  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 07:17 PM) I'll buy 2 off of you SS2k4...the problem is I don't have a credit card, e-bay account, or Paypal thingy. Is there a way we can work it out??? Whoops.. didn't see this. If mine don't sell and you don't get them from Mike let me know. I can't pull the auction until it's done.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Wear it with Sox Pride! lol....I'm looking to buy 2 more. Like Mike said. we both put our extras on eBay. There are several others as well, so if you want 2 maybe that's the best place to get them.
  3. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) Wrong again. I was looking for MLB information. Not general information. He's been in the personal disability insurance business for over 10 yrs. As I said in the other thread I'm done with Maggs. After discussing it at dinner time we agree that he lacks sincerity in his words. I'm not going to call him a liar but common sense leans to KW being more truthful. KW alleges the 58/4 deal was still on the table in Jul. If Maggs was leaning towards accepting arbitration over a 105/7 deal from a team like the Tigs then he could have had the Sox restructure the contract so that each yr was a player option yr. I think the Sox would have been more than happy to structure it that way. Doing this would have paid him more in 05 than arbitration. I didn't say what you were looking for.. so I guess I was right. The deal was 60/4 - all cash from JR's mouth... Just wanted to correct that item.
  4. QUOTE(ptatc @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) This injury is not the common type of edema from your definition. Your definition is the common soft tissue edema from a bruise or a sprained ankle. Maggs had edmea in the bone. The bone cannot swell up like soft tissue so it builds up pressure exapnds in the bone marrow and cuts off the blood supply. The main problem with Maggs is that the bone could have begun to die from a lack of blood supply. This is called avascular necrosis. The difficult thing to predict is that was the edema there long enough to cause permanent damage. The purpose of the "shock wave" therapy he had in Austria was to induce microtrauma into the bone to make it bleed a little and hopefully restore the blood supply. We do not know how effective it is for this condition because as stated earlier there is not much research for efficacy of this treatment for this injury because it is a rare injury. But he's gonna be juuuuust fine. Thanks for the details ptatc.
  5. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Steff if you want to believe that it would cost the Sox 6M for disability insurance on Ordonez 12M/1yr deal go right ahead. But you have yet to convince me. I have an uncle who deals exclusively with DL insurance & he says that preposterous. He mentioned X-games athletes are a higher risk than NFL (news to me) & that even the rights they pay are no where close to 50% of the value of the contract. So belief what you want. As for the latest quote, Boras, ""Their doctors have talked with Magglio's doctors. They're certainly comfortable he'll be ready to go by spring training." I don't want you to do anything. Besides.. I don't think the voices allow you much free time. I'm not here to convince people of anything. I shared what I was told. Don't like it.. oh well. All of a sudden you have an uncle in the business.. yet you spent the entire afternoon looking for some sort of information to support your cause.. :rolly
  6. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) http://img208.exs.cx/img208/9756/untitled1uc.gif proof. The first one i can get 140+ easy...then i found out that you have to go all the way to the end with the black car...and back in. Then with the SUV you go to the handicap space and back in. Wow.. nice job TBS8. Glad I could help some of you pass the time..
  7. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) I can not find a source for MLB. Maybe you should then, or stop comparing them. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) As you pointed out the condition for Belle was detected prior to the signing of the contract & though he was cleared to play it was still considered a chronic condition at the time. The same applies for Gonzo No.. it was not chronic. I don't know anything about Gonzo's medical records, so I can not comment.
  8. I'll copy and paste your post to her and let you know her answers.
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) I see you've thought this through :rolly LOL Rowand.. GMTA!!
  10. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) You trade Lee + stuff + cash for Hudson. Ahhhh.. now it all makes sense.
  11. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) Steff...the first quote says, "Palmeiro said in a statement." And the second says "Rodriguez said in the Puerto Rican..." It's either a typo or you read it wrong. But, just because you don't have a personal relationship with someone, doesn't mean you don't have a "professional" relationship. Doesn't prove anything to me. Canseco may be an attention whore, but that doesn't mean he's lying. I read it wrong. And I agree with you about him being an attention whore.. and that it doesn't mean he's lying.
  12. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) Someone's going to say it, might as well be me: Cocaine's a hell of a drug. I've heard it was meth..? Are they similar?
  13. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) Sports athletes can even purchase disability insurance on projected future earnings! 2003: McGhee took out a 2.5M DL insur policy with Loyd's of London before the Fiesta Bowl game. It cost him far less than 10K per 1M avg rate because it was only insuring him for about 4mo. From the Fiesta bowl to the NFL draft. Why do you keep talking about football?
  14. Jugger.. I know what I was told and it was from a baseball source. Maybe you should compare apples to apples. Also.. I don't know where you're getting your information, but Belle had no issues with his hip until the 97 season when the condition was found in a x-ray. And even with the finding he was deemed 100% capable. Maggs.. by his own admission is not 100%.
  15. Rodriguez says... "I categorically deny any assertion made by Jose Canseco that I used steroids," Palmeiro said in a statement. "At no point in my career have I ever used steroids, let alone any substance banned by Major League Baseball. As I have never had a personal relationship with Canseco, any suggestion that he taught me anything, about steroid use or otherwise, is ludicrous." Then says... “I am in shock. Surprised. He is saying things that are not true, and it pains me much that he says such things because I have always had much respect for him, and moreover, I helped him many times when things weren't going well for him”, Rodriguez said in the Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia. I don't normally help people I don't have at least a friendship (which would be a personal relationship, no?) with...
  16. I was talking to a friend who works legal in the sports industry earlier today.. she mentioned that the publisher very likely had investigators checking out Jose's stories and that there's got to be some sort of evidence otherwise they would have the potential to be sued out the wazoo for defamation. Not that Jose has much credibility.. but ya gotta wonder what kind of evidence there is that they would be so confident in distributing the book..
  17. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) He may be higher risk. Comparing a healthy NFL player to someone with a known injury who hasn't demonstrated he can play. Logical to most..
  18. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) Maggs passed his physical & was cleared for major league baseball activity. Insurance companies don't go around asking people to jump rope. They deal with medical opinions I know exactly what they ask for. They give him a series of tests and grade on the ability to perform those tasks. "Baseball activity" could mean standing stationary tossing a ball. When Albert took his tests for Baltimore he had to take 13 different tests, one included swimming, and based on his performance he was given a grade and the risk factor was assigned from that grade. He was deemed 100% at the time and still there was an additional premium. I don't care about football players or whatever else. I'm talking about a baseball qualifying physical. Maggs "rep" said he would be 80% at spring training.. no way did it, or would it, cost less to insure someone at 80% than someone at 100% and definitely not 7 years later.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) Oh, 349 on my third try plus I crashed on the 1st car. 331 and I didn't crash.. but I think I took too much time.
  20. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 03:12 PM) I played this game a long time ago so I was obviously an expert. I got 290 and crashed twice in the last park with the SUV. Kip.. try again.. and don't crash. I wonder how high the score goes up to.
  21. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) We are talking about Illich! Have you seen how much $ he's spent on his Redwings in recent years? He's the Steinbrenner of the NHL & eventually broke the league. What does a healthy Maggs mean to the Tigs? Is it worth gambling 6M? For a team with 6M to burn the answer is an easy yes. That wasn't the question.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Did the Sox call Geico? they could save 15% or more on insurance...
  23. What you can't seem to get through that hard head of yours.. is that Belle's contract was insured SEVEN years ago. As a result of them getting hosed on that deal is has become increasingly harder and more expensive to insure contracts. And what else you're missing is the COST to the Orioles of the policy. It cost $17 million a year for Albert to play for the Orioles.. and at the time HE COULD STILL PLAY 100%. Maggs hasn't proven that he can jump rope... yet you think he's easily insurable.. LMAO..
  24. I can't get past 202. Probably a good idea that I get driven around.
  25. Whew.. 179 the second time.
