  1. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) How do we go about getting that feed for the games against the Sox? No idea. I'll ask him.
  2. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) Obviously, that is his dream and priority. To someone else, working in a lesser role or capacity, but staying with the Sox, the team you love, might be more important. I imagine broadcasting is one of those fields where the goal is to have ones own show. I can't imagine many broadcasters continue to work in a role that has no advancement unless that's their desire. Dave has long said (since '96 publically that I'm aware of anyway) that he wanted a larger role. Obviously the Sox were not willing to give him that role at this point. I'm all for following your dreams and making things happen, and I wish Dave all the best.
  3. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) not for the devil rays! u know that if he would be getting the same amount of money he would stay though. i was just joking about the money thing and maggs though :headshake It's not about $$. It's about going from one job to another which is leaps and bounds ahead of where he is at. Pre and post to play by play... do you have any clue as to how huge of a career jump that is..? And there is no staying. There is not a job in pbp with the Sox at this time.
  4. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 12:25 PM) He's going from pre-game and post-game studio host to a f***ing radio play-by-play man. Wouldn't you do the same if you were in a position to achieve one of your dreams? In a heartbeat.
  5. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) how can he just leave us like that? the d-rays? c'mon! :banghead i bet u its because the money, just like with maggs. i really liked dave. maybe hes sick of the sox underachieving? Save your $ and don't place that bet.
  6. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) Wow, I don't mean to be disrespectful to people's beliefs, but WOW. I agree. I mean.. why, if it's (clearly) not the best way to perform the proceedure, would they continue to do so. Especially for the health and comfort of their flesh and blood..??
  7. So sad.. http://www.ohio.com/mld/beaconjournal/10801461.htm?1c Posted on Wed, Feb. 02, 2005 Woman's frantic call to Norton police can't save fetus. Husband charged By Elbert Starks III and Gina Mace Beacon Journal writers The police recording of a Sunday night stabbing in Norton paints a haunting picture of an enraged husband and escalating violence, as a police dispatcher attempts to send help while comforting the victim. Lonnie McKenzie Jr., 24, of Lodi is charged with attempted murder and murder for allegedly stabbing his pregnant wife, Michelle, and killing the 8-week-old fetus at her father's residence. Michelle McKenzie, listed Wednesday in serious condition in Akron General Medical Center's surgical intensive care unit, called police at 10:58 p.m. Sunday, reaching dispatcher Gary Rafferty. The tape indicates Michelle McKenzie called initially to have a police cruiser sent to remove her husband from the home in the 4600 block of Albert Street. Because it was not a 911 call, police did not automatically have the address. That proved critical once Michelle McKenzie began screaming on the tape after she had been stabbed; the dispatcher did not know where to send assistance. A voice identified as Lonnie McKenzie can be heard on the tape saying, ``Whore,'' as the dispatcher pleads with Michelle McKenzie for the location, saying, ``What's the address, ma'am? What's the address?'' Lonnie McKenzie then speaks again, saying, ``Whore. You're (having sex with) my wife? Huh? Huh?'' Richard Hobbs II, 25, of Carl Street in Norton had dropped Michelle McKenzie off at the Albert Street residence. Hobbs was kicked and punched after attempting to intervene when he saw Lonnie McKenzie pull out an 8-inch kitchen knife, police said. On the tape, an unknown male can be heard asking, ``Where's the phone? Where's the phone?'' before saying, ``Call the... cops. I can't find the phone. Where's the... phone? Where's the other phone at?'' Rafferty then says, ``It's Norton police, may I have the address please?'' before the line goes dead. Michelle McKenzie called the police again at 11:01 p.m., this time requesting an ambulance and giving the address. Rafferty immediately sends two units to the scene while notifying a supervisor that he has a location. Michelle McKenzie then tells the dispatcher she had been stabbed. Ronald Long, Michelle McKenzie's father, then gets on the line and says Lonnie McKenzie is outside fighting and had stabbed his daughter, telling the dispatcher at one point, ``She looks bad.'' Michelle McKenzie then asks to use the phone, saying she is ``hurting bad.'' The dispatcher asks her to keep the line open, and Michelle McKenzie asks, ``Am I going to be OK?'' The dispatcher tells her, ``We've got some very good people heading up your way. They'll be there shortly, OK? So just hang in there.'' The dispatcher asks Michelle McKenzie who stabbed her, and she replies, ``My husband.'' The dispatcher, seeking clarification, asks for the name, and Michelle McKenzie then says ``Lonnie McKenzie.'' Police officers arrived at 11:05 p.m., and Michelle McKenzie, after identifying herself to Rafferty, later said she was having trouble breathing. Rafferty tells her, ``OK. Just calm down, just breathe really slow, ma'am. Breathe real slow. Just calm down. Just breathe real slow, ma'am.'' Paramedics arrived at 11:07 p.m., according to police. Lonnie McKenzie appeared Wednesday in Barberton Municipal Court with an appointed attorney, Donald Malarcik. Judge Michael Weigand refused Malarcik's request to reduce a $250,000 cash bond and told McKenzie that his case will go to a Summit County grand jury. The case is expected to be heard by the panel early next week. Malarcik said Lonnie McKenzie is on suicide watch. He said McKenzie has a history of mental health problems and is despondent. Malarcik said that if his client is indicted for the murder of the fetus, he plans to file a motion in Summit County Common Pleas Court ``to address the issue of the viability of the fetus and whether or not the facts in this case support a murder charge.'' The argument would be based on the definition of ``viable.'' A criminal statute states, ``viable means the stage of development of a human fetus at which there is a realistic possibility of maintaining and nourishing of a life outside the womb with or without temporary artificial life-sustaining support.'' ``This is going to be a tough call,'' Malarcik said. ``Some judge is going to have to make a very tough decision.''

GYPSUM, Colorado (AP) -- A high school graduate has confessed to cheating on an English literature test -- 47 years ago. Eagle Valley High School principal Mark Strakbein said he got a one-page, handwritten letter from a 65-year-old grandmother of five who admitted she and a friend stole the answers to a Shakespeare test in the fall of 1957. "I know it makes no difference now (after 47 years), except maybe this will keep some student from cheating and help them to be honest -- conscience never lets you forget -- there is forgiveness with God, and I have that, but I felt I still needed to confess to the school." Strakbein didn't release the woman's name but said he confirmed she graduated in 1958 from Eagle County High School, which has since been consolidated into Eagle Valley High. Strakbein said he read the letter aloud to every homeroom class as a lesson in following your conscience. "You could have heard a pin drop," he said.

    Bank Fraud warning.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) I received that several times and delete it without opening it. Okay, I opened it the first time and sent it to MSN abuse - not that MSN actually does anything about it. I've never gotten anything like this, and we do nearly all of our banking online. Where do they get the emails from..?
  12. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) Not if you're the trainer. There was a thread on that here from around the time of the signing, but inertia prevents me from hunting for it. A couple at least, IIRC. Were they really just talking about it this morning..? Was that the first time they did..? A bit OT.. anyone hear them last night talking about the Sosa trade and playing clips from the PC. They were ripping him pretty good. I think Carmen was "interviewing" for an open broadcasting job...

    Bank Fraud warning.

Just passing this along.. NOTICE Recently people have been receiving numerous e mails both advising them that their account at a bank (Washington Mutual where they do not have an account, and Regions Banks where they do have an account), has been compromised. To correct this I’m supposed to click on a link in order to verify my account information. These are “phi shying” messages meaning these are looking for a response in order to get into our computers. If you receive one of these do not respond. They look legitimate, but are not. If you have a concern about one of your accounts, call your institution to verify the information, do not respond to these email. Thanks! __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ____ Notice additional information __________________________________________________ ______________________ FDIC sends new alert on phish e-mails Feb. 3, 2005—Someone is sending consumers e-mails fraudulently claiming to be sent by FDIC and, as in previously reported phish scams, directing consumers to provide sensitive information via a fraudulent Web site that is made to look like FDIC’s. This particular e-mail message asks the consumer to confirm an online payment for products purchased. It directs the consumer to the fraudulent Web site, where he or she is then directed to provide sensitive financial and personal information such as bank or credit-card account numbers. FDIC, in a special alert (SA-11-2005) sent to banks, warns that this e-mail may also contain a computer virus—another reason to warn consumers not to click on that link. The agency has a Web site where consumers can read more about this and other types of fraudulent activity and get tips for protecting their personal information from such scams.
  14. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) Well, I just happened to be on the Munsters action figure site at the time, you see. What are the chances? Play the lotto
  15. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) A little slow AND a little late, Pally. There already are Munster dolls out there... Holy crap Jim.. that was fast!
  16. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) I voted for the third option just because of the question and the fact that it's "You're" not "your." :headshake Eh.. he's just using "Gage grammar"..
  17. Just a quick note to anyone still interested.. tomorrow is the last day I will be accepting payments/requests for the wristbands.
  18. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) Cock-blocked? If he had really been making any progress with this chick, getting kicked out of the bar would seem like a good excuse to have to head over to his or her place. Seems like the cops almost did him a favor.....unless of course his 'game' is not as tight as he might have hoped. LMAO LMB.. Hysterical!!
  19. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) Still hungover? lol That would be a great excuse... unfortunately no.
  20. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) I've seen him on the news, but the area where they are building is one I rarely ever get to. Plus they have the whole street blocked off, so you can only get in and out with a pass they issued to the neighbors. When was his appendectomy? Can't be this week because I have seen him on the news at the site at 2 of the three days they have been here. I have a friend that works for a closing attorney who does all the legal work for the builder that is doing the job. She was there yesterday and will be down there all weekend. I am trying to get her to get me in so I can check everything out. No.. not within a week. I think it was right after New Years. Wow.. I just realized that was a month ago.
  21. By the way Rex.. did you see Ty..? He was just in the hospital for an emergency appendectomy.
  22. According to the waivers and release agreements, the bills after are the sole responsibility of the homeowners.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Its a pain in the ass. You gotta fill out forms and provide proof of rabies shots and you have to sit in the crap seats. Its not worth it. One form. No proof other than writing the tag number on the form. And the seats are in the bleachers.. I'm sure the ST holders in the bleachers would disagree with you that they are crap seats.
  24. QUOTE(quickman @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) I use 70% of them Us about the same. We've averaged about 50-55 games the last 3 years. Before that... maybe 50%.
