  1. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 12, 2009 -> 11:23 PM) B'ham's not that far from where you guys are, especially Nashville. You drive down here, I'll get you premium seats for free. Well, I wouldn't call 3hrs "not that far" when its 6 total, but I understand what your saying, and if we do make a trip down there I'll message ya, hopefully that offer is always there. Can't wait to see the boys over in jackson on saturday and thanks for everyone on the retroactive info on gordon, I was thinking that might have been the case but couldn't find info on the barons site. ..sad that i'm more excited to see the barons than watch lilly and pods lately..
  2. QUOTE (dasox24 @ May 12, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) Naw, man... Of course this happens. The one time I'm going to see the Barons play, Beckham goes to the DL. Good news is that there are still a ton of top prospects on that team (including Danks now), but I just really wanted to see 'ol Slayer. Of course this is my luck. I'm in Nashville and have been planning a trip on the 16th to Jackson to see our boys play and I won't get to see Slayer. Upset.. yes. But there are plenty of guys I still want to see and Danks is a nice surprise if I can't see Gordon. I just knew something like this was gonna happen. Anybody else heading to Jackson on Sat? Would be nice to see some sox fans.
  3. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 09:47 PM) I knew we had him playing out of position. Consider what this means. He's outhit Betemit so far this year... AND he's thrown more innings in MLB than Marquez and Nunez combined. Great Post. I love it, hope he continues to do well, the guy had a horrible year last year, but I still thought it was absolutely ridiculous to bench him late in the year and playoffs, over a AAAA player. I'm glad he sulked about and pissed people off, they were playing dewayne wise over him, thats not right when you bring a guy in as your marque free agent. He still would scare a pitcher more than facing d. wise even late in the season, and its not out of the realm of possibility he gets hot at the end to supplament GOD when he was gone. But whatever, I'm not angry he's gone, I was angry we still had a hole in CF. Hope brian can finally have a early hot streak to settle his crazy ass down.
  4. From a baseball prospectus chat. And it echoes my thoughts on this: YankeesFan ((NY,NY)): WHAT A DEAL FOR THE YANKS!!!! Steven Goldman: A lot like this here in the chat queue. I think that is the one aspect of this that's pretty wonderful regardless of what happens with Teixeira. The Yankees gave up Jeff Marquez, who seems a good bet to never pitch in the big leagues, dealt a pitching prospect for another who looks even better who doesn't have to be put on the 40-man, and Wilson Betemit, who played his way off the team. What's not to love about that? Here's my take. I like Swish, just do, didn't like what he gave us last year, but was just as furious that he didn't play over wise at the end just like he was I'm sure. And I don't care what D. Wise did for us, it was still not worth trying, when you trade for a guy like swish you have to stick with him, just do if he's not hurt. Now take that for what it is. I'm fine with Swish being gone if that what the team needed. I'm fine with this. Also I love kenny much more than I hate him, BUT these deals where he almost always loses on paper just drive me insane, Somehow it hasn't bitten us yet, but its the fact of not getting what you could and we lose overall depth that is worrisome. I just wish he had waited till the winter meetings where i think he could have done better, anybody who thinks any of these 3 guys (specially the pitchers) will amount to much to help us win a title, please pray hard. So I don't like the trade, but I don't like many that seem to work out or be neutral for us, we will see. Should countinue to be a fun offseason and I hope we get something done that is a bit more contstructive for this team.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 03:43 PM) So the wildness means Thome is in for walks......does swisher not walk more than Wise? I was assuming that 3 run homer bought Wise a starting job for the rest of the series, thank god it did not. Get em Swish. Sure having swish in doesn't guarentee a win, but all of us that understand things have to be thankful for today, this is our best lineup we got (although i wouldn't care if ozzie still had JR out there instead of BA, although i like BA) and we should ride the damn thing out. We are lucky to be here at this point and we just have to put the best out and pray. Wise hitting that 3 run homer was great. yep. But since we lost the game its actually far worse that he hit that HR, since he will now play against every righthander for now on, that sucks. I mean we are playing D. Wise in the playoffs... with a near all-star (WHO HAS SUCKED THIS YEAR I KNOW) player for the last 3 years and in his supposed prime age year rotting on the bench. Fact is we have to play swish and hope to god he plays as good as he is. When he plays well it lifts our team and we need it. Go White Sox. Wise has been lucky in spots this year swinging hard, good for him, now sit down.
  6. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 10:52 AM) Since he hit those 2 homeruns on Sept. 19, Wise has 3 hits, 1 run, 1 RBI and 2 BB. There has to be more the Swisher benching than the way Wise has played. I know swisher has sucked and he doesn't have many friends left here. But my god I have NO idea why we have a guy that can still walk and hit homeruns on the bench for D. Wise. Now if you want to say wise can walk and hit a HR too thats fine, but when its a pressure situation like every at-bat is right now, I want the opposing pitcher to have to face a switch-hitting guy who they prolly will still be a tad scared of, instead of seeing Wise and thinking there in control. If we have to play our crappy guys then give me BA over wise. Wise has had his moments, thanks, but his time is done.
  7. I'm not mad at wise, he did a good job this season, just sucks he had to have a hot streak and be thought of as a player you had to play tonight. I don't know why ozzie just didn't look at him and pitch hit anybody, you could just see he wasn't comfortable. again, not his fault really, he's a guy who plays as well as his talent allows and he got hot at a certain time of year that ends up having an effect later that was bad. o well. got to win tomorrow. got to. have to.
  8. you can see in D. Wise's face he didn't really know how to handle this situation
  9. This is just going to be a BIG loss. A true dissapointment with the kind of pitches that were thrown to our offense by the twins. TONS of hittable balls and we just didn't get it done. Mark should be remembered this year for really guttin in there for us. Hey... Nathan hasn't been nuts lately, lets hope luck goes our way, thats all that can be done. F*** mark doesn't deserve for us not to be one run away in the ninth, this would be awful. please.
  10. What a man up job by Mark tonight, he really had to fight tonight and he did it. Our offense.. well it has to turn around our thats where the F bombs will go. Hope the percentages start going our way. Kubel is not close to Carlos, Hawk I hope stoney makes little snide comments on every one of your bonehead thoughts, but i like you in a homer way, but wow stop it.
  11. Not really much to say about those last two at bats. But at least we can change that a tad. Its not their fault though, their good guys.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:32 PM) Unless Wise comes up huge in the next few innings, I have no doubt dirty 30 will be playing tomorrow. Even though I rarely see things happen as you would logically think they should as far as management philoshophy goes for our sox. I am fairly certain we will see swish in there for most of the season... This by no means will help us, but we have to put our best out there and hope they play to their best. its all we can do. DP ouch. good walk.
  13. In my opinion Swisher gets to play everyday in left that ozzie wants to play griff in center, and then BA gets to come in late for griffey, that seemed to work for a while and its what we should do. Wise has had his moments and as a PH he can have a few more, but he can't start for us.. seriously, he can't be a starter in the playoffs, we need to ride the swisher and hope things turn around for him, i still for whatever reason think he can, but at least be better than d. wise. anyway lets go right here and take wise out.
  14. D. Wise. my deep down inside love of BA makes me want wise to fail... but since i know BA isn't what i wish he was its great. but itsn't. but is. but wtf 2 HR for wise tonight. jesus.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) Haven't seen you around for a while. How's it going? fantastic. nashville has been great. 2nd year here since getting away from chicago/depaul. can't believe this season of ours here. havn't felt like posting much but the dank is nice tonight and i'm at the computer. and will have a fantastic time here watching the dodgers hopefully win by 2 for about 100 bucks on a 10 dollar bet. fun times. and tonight is much better than last night
  16. With a three team parlay up of houston -1.5 +145 white sox -1.5 +125 and dodgers -1.5 -115, its not the best feeling to see the big O up there at this point in the season. AND thank you OD. good for his confidence right there. and also its crazy that geoff blum got it done for me in teh astros game in the 8th by hitting first base for a 2 run single. ha. go dodgers.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) Did you know Tampa is 20-0 at home when they have 30k or more fans? and as long as i can get some stats like this once and a while, your allowed to be a stay at home loser. like me
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 08:14 PM) exactly. fortunately i was able to get tix and go to all 3 AL championship games in anaheim. it sure was a blast. did you see me on tv? god knows you never go to any games as you are mr. pessimism i pissed my pants because i love my team that sucks and i hate all the players that is why i post 1 million posts so hopefully somebody will like me. dont worry i will buy you a coke kid. reinvent yourself, this is a lowly message board.
  19. I for one will miss the gooch. However bad he has been this year (which is worse than I would like to admit) I still think he's better than half of the 2nd baseman out there and is a nice pickup for the phils right now. Going to the NL and getting into a nice lineup should provid a solid lift to iguchi and I could see iguchi putting up better numbers this next month than anything he did for us this year or lately. So long iguchi, I was all over your bandwagon when you got here and will support you a bit longer. But as of now I will probably be going to danks=dank until kenny unloads him because of an insane market in 5 yrs for a load of buttcrack sweat. THANKS FOR 2005!
  20. One of the ONLY posts lately that tickles my fancy at this point. I'll be looking forward to that... as long as stoney uses the Uh-Oh edit that: If its with farmer than screw it, farmer will ruin that completey.. he can't handle someone 10 times better than he is in the booth for a week, that just won't work. please be with hawk.
  21. Amen, its such a hard, hard thing to do especially in baseball where getting to the postseason is hard, and once your their anything can happen. Realistically the twins and oakland and others like them have had more consistent runs lately... but its very hard to seal the deal. Watching games like these lately makes me love 2005 more everyday.
  22. QUOTE(Craig Grebeck @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) Anyone else concerned that Erstad will get 600 plate appearances and his option will vest for next season? Thats NOT funny in the least bit. Anywho, I'm kinda done being worried by this stupid erstad era were currently in. Erstad has absolutely ZERO offensive game left and it should only be a matter of time before BA or anybody with a pulse at the plate starts to take real platoon time with him and then during this time erstad will get some leg issue or something and take a f***ing seat. I mean you have to be a HUGE erstad homer and BA hater to really believe that erstad gives us a better team than BA. We all know BA is going to strikeout abnormally high prolly for the foreseeable future, but seriously he is at least somewhat dangerous at the plate when he makes contact and can take a walk. Erstad is pathetic, did you SEE his swings lately... GAWD.. The only thing that is keeping me from insanity on this issue is to see ozzie's qoute's about the subject, its hilarious. Honestly... didn't want BA in the lineup with molina........ ERSTAD AND MOLINA IS MORE PATHETIC, especially with a lefty up!.. ozzie is making it such a joke that i'm finally just letting it go and expect an erstad grounder or terrible strikeout and move on to the next day and one of these days this stupid experiment will be over, and we can have back our average young CF and be a better team. Meanwhile lets just enjoy how disgustingly bad erstad is while it lasts, ozzie is throwing him out there everyday praying that he proves everybody wrong and then ozzie can say, EVERYONE wanted DIS kid outa here, now look at this grinder we have at the top order.... sorry ozzie not gonna happen. and since these rants are annoying to some people I'm hoping for a big day for erstad, maybe a couple hits even so that people can think he's turning a corner for the 3rd time this season(he's only had 2 good games i believe, maybe 3). "didn't want molina and anderson in the game together" THANK YOU ozzie, the quotes will only get better from here on out. I will enjoy
  23. Well, hopefully the boys can keep it up and get us number 4 in a row, great 4/20 by the way. Only thing I'm worried about is that we have our 2nd best fielding center fielder in, hopefully he doesn't cost us in the field..... another classic, thanks ozzie I have relatives in Michigan who were SO glad that if they had to get beat by anybody on the sox last night they were glad it was erstad so that he continues to play everyday, there loving that scenerio, but mostly their pissed that pods is hurt b/c they hate to see mack/ozuna platoon there instead of pods. but whatever, erstad did finally do something good for the 2nd game this year, so I'll try to like him for the rest of today, but thats all he gets from me.
