  1. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 02:12 PM) i don't think going pro means a kid doesn't value an education. going pro doesn't mean you're not getting your degree. I understand, his mom wants his to graduate with a degree. Julian Wright is going to stay his 3rd year, which he already announced. he is going to work on his shooting skills so he can play the 3 in the pros.
  2. Ok, ill take your grain of salt....Wright is staying the kid actually values an education as well.
  3. No, Wright has already said he is staying. He is getting his degree in 3 years. I also am close to his mother and she is saying he is staying as well. I see Arthur the most likely to leave.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 12:29 PM) Doubt it, but I see no way how they should be a 2 seed, their resume has way too many holes in it. SIU deserves a two seed over Memphis. Neither will get a 2 though.
  5. Memphis would lose to the winner of MSU/Quack QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 12:16 PM) New Bracketology I like the draw Lunardi gave SIU. #3 seed, would get Memphis in the Sweet 16. I like. Too bad he is obviously wrong. Floorburn U can work in so many levels.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 11:46 AM) Are you saying a Sweet Sixteen berth may be possible? Seriously, though, I want Kansas to win the Big 12. I don't want them damn Aggies thinking they own the place. Then go Texas tomorrow night!!!! A&M is so pathetic they rushed the court after beating Kansas. The only problem, they were on the road, its very sad footage.
  7. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 11:35 AM) I'd like Brandon Rush to go pro for no other reason than he seems to cost the Clones a win every year.... Man if this team can stay together with the addition of Reed and Aldrich, yikes.
  8. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 11:12 AM) settle down. you were probably ready to toss old roy's salad a few years ago. bitterness is not becoming. who's bitter??, its the truth, UNC played no Defense on Jones the second half. I for one am way past the Roy Williams days.
  9. Willie Warren from North Crowley in Fort Worty(same school as Keith Langford) is down to Arkansas and Kansas. he is the number 4 shooting guard in nation. http://www.kansas.rivals.com/viewprospect....mp;pr_key=42534
  10. oh goodie another tarheel fan haha. Well you played roy ball, which means well no Defense.
  11. Rush said the same thing last year. Fact is the kid still is developing his driving skills and this draft class is well PACKED.
  12. Rush return is likely Kansas sophomore guard Brandon Rush said he’s leaning toward returning for his junior season instead of entering the NBA draft. “I haven’t decided yet,” Rush said. “But I’m pretty sure I’ll be back.”
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 11:48 PM) The only way I could see Self leaving voluntarily for Arkansas is if they offered him just an absurd amount of money. Even then I would be really surprised. Self just signed a 5 year deal, and this rumor was started by an Arkansas message board. They were simply listing coaches they would want. Phog.net has been laughing at Arkansas for a few days since this started.
  14. Heads, Self is going nowhere, it was a rumor started by an arkansas web site. Though if he loses in the first round again, he can leave. Just as I predicted a close game against a team playing on senior night with Kelvin Sampson in the crowd. OU played the old thug ball, which is fine. A close game and a win is a great remedy, need a few close ones on the road to glory. Why the hell would he go down the coaching ladder and go to Arkansas. KU is about as good a job as your can get.
  15. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 08:15 AM) When they lost to Penn State at home. haha that was classic.
  16. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 07:23 AM) Sure, I got a good chuckle when the Buckeyes fans were storming the court, when they already are #1. It should go without saying to act like youve won something important before, it also goes without saying that Buckeye basketball doesnt get too see too much of this. In the past 10-15 years, the Big X has been dominated by the likes of MSU and Indiana, with other schools such as Wisconsin and Illinois peaking their heads in to steal a title here and there. Sure, there has been a lot of hype surrounding this Ohio State team dating back to pre-season rankings, but I can't imagine being a fan of Ohio State basketball is really intense experience like some other "elite" programs look at how to celebrate and support their team. Just liek much of the rest of the Big X, Ohio State is a football school first and formost.... and when their basketball team does well, it seems like "out of the ordinary" and gives reason to cherish the moment at a higher level (because who knows when this might happen again approach) Jim Jackson's and Michael Redd's dont grow on trees down in Columbus. So it still may not be right that they "storm", but in someways at least it is understandable. Jimbo, please tell me I am havnig trouble reading your post saying that KU will go down in Norman tonight?? I don't know, these arent your Grandpapi Sampson's Sooners anymore. Dont let the late season paranoia set in....we are a non-stop freight train right now. We almost doubled the spread on Saturday night, and we were favored by 20+ Late season, senior night and Michael Neal scare me. Plus coach sampson will be in attendance, dont know how that will affect the team. I hope we kill them and keep thie Sherron and DA train moving TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOt
  17. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 06:53 AM) Consistent doesn't necessarily mean all-or-none about names. For example, I think names like "Illini" or "Utes" are perfectly fine, but I find Chief Illiniwek to be unacceptable (so I think the right decision was made here). Why? Because the name is not an insult, but the chief and its behavior are. So, I'm consistent in my view. Just don't be offensive. If U of I really wanted to keep the chief, all they had to do was work with the tribe(s) and come up with a way for it not to be insulting. If they couldn't make that work, then just don't do it. Of course, I have it easy, being a Cyclone. Can't really offend a weather system. But even that name is inaccurate, really, since a cyclone is just any low pressure system. Jayhawks are slave fighters, we are PC!!!
  18. KU signs Connor Teahan to a special"walk on" role. He was being recruited by many teams in the MVC, he is a sharp shooter that plays on the KC AAU team with one of our 08 recruits.
  19. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 06:24 AM) I don't know. Think Ohio State needs to win a couple of games in the Big Ten tournament before they're assured of getting an NIT bid.
  20. It’s that time of the year again. As the NCAA tournament grows ever nearer, and teams hop on and off the bubble on a daily basis, tensions in the stands can boil over into the dastardly scourge of Court Storming. As we all know, storming the field of play can only result in injury, lawlessness, and the heartbreak of chlamydia. Fortunately, the SEC is doing something about it. They have levied stiff punishments against any member school that is unable to control fan behavior, as evidenced by the $25,000 fine incurred by Vanderbilt after pushing and shoving got out of hand in a win over Florida. Now, I know kids will be kids, and sometimes the pain is worth it. What’s college without chlamydia, I always say. But there should be a few rules in place to help impressionable youngsters assess the proper time and place for court storming. When: * If your unranked school beats a top-10 opponent. * If your lower-division school beats a D1 opponent. (See: Virginia @ Chaminade) * You beat your most hated rival in overtime, or on a last-second miracle shot. * Your team breaks a long losing streak vs. a particularly difficult opponent. (See: Kansas State vs. Kansas - still on hold.) * Your team wins the league tournament in a one-bid conference. * In the NCAA tournament, only a 16 vs. 1 upset really matters any more. If your school wins in the Regional Final or Final Four, you can storm. * If your school wins the NCAA Championship. This special win also confers limited looting & pillaging rights. Not OK: * Winning the NIT. * If your school is ranked. Possible exceptions for beating #1. * Students at Kansas, UCLA, Kentucky, Indiana, North Carolina, and Duke should be used to winning. Unless a national championship is in sniffing distance, you will look like assholes storming the court. * Never, ever storm before the final buzzer sounds. * If you storm an opponent’s court, odds are you will get hurt. * A personal milestone for a player or coach is his moment, not yours. * The Ivy League? I don’t think so. How: * Make sure you know which gate will be open. If you try to storm through the wrong one, you risk entering enemy territory and being the target for an entire section of irate opposing fans (yes, I speak from personal experience). * Don’t try to bust in on your players and coaches. They appreciate your enthusiasm, but you are not welcome in the huddle. * Do not approach Bobby Knight or Bob Huggins, even if they coach for your school. * Don’t rub it in the faces of opposing players. They lost, and you didn’t score, dish, or rebound once in the game. If the players can treat each other with respect, the fans owe nothing less. Even to an annoying furriner like Joakim Noah. * For the love of god, don’t damage your own building. That’s just stupid. * Don’t overstay your welcome. When things start to wind down, take it to the nearest bar. If the team’s gone, you should be too. * Enjoy the moment. Storming the court should be rare enough to taste sweet. Hopefully, these guidelines will keep you from being the next “fat kid in the yellow shirt” or “dude in leather coat who got jacked”. Ideally, you should be “fan who celebrated a big win, hooked up with someone cool later at the bar, and came up clean for chlamydia a week later.” Good luck, and enjoy the tournaments!
  21. KU jumps to number 3 in the nation. now we are destined to lose tonight.
