QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 05:14 PM) Now I think I'm going to rent these movies. Why would you do that to yourself?

My main gripe with Deng getting is it that he's playing worse than he was last year, but getting more credit somehow. He's been underrated for awhile though, so it's tough to get too worked up about him finally getting some respect.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 08:53 PM) Dude? I was referring to the fact that the Answer was totally right hand dependant. Ok, let me rephrase what I previously said: QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) He can't dribble with his left hand and his outside shot is Rubioish. From my experience watching basketball players play basketball, 99.9% of players need to be able to dribble with both hands to be a real NBA player (especially at point). He's had two very nice games, but once teams start adjusting and forcing him to go left, he's going to regress hard.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 08:10 AM) Actually, I disagree. I watched most of that Knicks game because the Bulls were up by 30 points at halftime. Lin does have some nice moves at the net, and he has solid court vision. This would be like completely dismissing CJ Watson because you'd never heard of that D-Leaguer prior to dropping 40 for the Warriors. I suggest watching Lin play a couple of times before declaring he's not very good. He can't dribble with his left hand and his outside shot is Rubioish. From my experience watching basketball players play basketball, you need to be able to dribble with both hands to be a real NBA player (especially at point). He's had two very nice games, but once teams start adjusting and forcing him to go left, he's going to regress hard.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 06:17 AM) WHere did Lin come from? I hate him already. Don't worry, he'll disappear into nothingness soon enough. He's not a very good player.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 09:57 PM) You know, it's really not THAT hard to just NOT stop down and hop once more on your right foot. If you notice a pile of dog s*** on the sidewalk last second, your thought process isn't "WELL s***, NOW I HAVE TO STEP HERE" it's normally "HOW CAN I AVOID THIS s***!?!?!" Like I said, Love didn't actively try to avoid it, so he probably did deserve the suspension. Thank you for explaining that, regardless.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) But I thought Felix was the most objective person in the world? Meh If anything, I think that Love didn't actively try NOT to step on Scola, so the end result of a 2-game suspension is hard to complain about. I don't know where people wanted him to step instead since he was already starting to run up court, but that's pretty irrelevant I guess.
-
Unfortunately I didn't actually see the game, but I'd imagine Love was heavily provoked before doing that sort of thing. That's pretty far out of his regular comfort range. Upon rewatching it again (and again), I honestly don't think it was intentional. It looks like his foot got caught up in Scola's arms when he was about to go up court and he really had no other place to step. I wouldn't be surprised if he's suspended, but I don't really think he was intentionally trying to step on Scola's face. That being said, it's hilarious that they didn't call any of that play a foul. That's about as obvious as you can get.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 10:01 PM) That's irrelevant. TS% takes account of FTA vs FGA too. Not just the mades. And you have no idea whether the players takes a lot of shots at the rim or take long jump shots. Would you prefer I use eFG%? Either way, there isn't a doubt that Morrow is a very good shooter, but to say he's one of the best of all time is a ridiculous hyperbole.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 09:24 PM) Allen is a much better scorer, but in terms of simply shooting the ball, Morrow is just about the best ever http://www.basketball-reference.com/leader...pct_career.html (obviously a lot of big men will be up there, but take note of the Reggie Miller's of the world)

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) Anthony Morrow FTW Nikola Pekovic > Morrow

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 01:04 PM) Yup, I believe the POTC music you hear at Sox games is a combo from two tracks on that album: Swords Crossed and... something else, forget which.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 05:07 PM) Would you rather play those games without your best player for about five games, and two starters for most of the season? If it means I'm playing the Wizards, Bobcats, Raptors, etc.? Yes, without a doubt.
-
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 03:54 PM) The thing against that is we have played more games than most teams while dealing with injuries and I think played the most road games in the league or close to it. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) And us winning the games weakens Strength of schedule. All valid points, but I've said this before and I'll say it again, I'd rather play 25 games against the Bobcats, Wizards, Pistons or Raptors than play 19 games against good competition.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 03:00 PM) The first adversity test is injuries, and they have responded incredibly well for what they have faced this year. Definitely. Certainly doesn't hurt that they've faced the 11th easiest schedule in the Eastern Conference this season (26th easiest overall), but they've done a good job handling injuries. If their schedule was a bit harder, it's pretty obvious they wouldn't be 19-6 right now, however. When your team is winning, injuries or not, there's no reason for any player to ever speak poorly of a coach. That was my main point.
-
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 01:08 PM) I think the players actually like Thibs and he isn't as much a dictator as Skiles/Collins though which separates him from them. I don't have any inside info or anything just with Skiles he seemed like Ozzie in a way that it was his clubhouse no ifs and or buts about it.... everything was Ozzie/Skiles. I don't see that in Thibs. I don't think you really know how players feel about a coach until the team starts struggling, which obviously hasn't happened yet in Chicago. That's the real test.

QUOTE (mumbles3k @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 10:20 AM) I finally saw DRIVE. I went from wanting to see it before it came out to not caring about it when it was out to thinking I really missed something when it was gone. After all that, I think my initial prediction of its quality accurate. It was okay. I can see why people are responding to it, but ultimately, the reasons why it's praised are the things I don't care about. I see why it's commended on technical level, but I'm left unmoved. On the plus side, it doesn't mess up my top ten list like I thought it might. The dialogue (or lack there of) was generally pretty terrible. The soundtrack was superb and the cinematography, etc. was all pretty solid, but I think the people that thought it was this amazing movie were reading wayy too much into it.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 11:52 AM) Apparently, there is a God. Jack White launching solo album, first single available for stream here. Who are we kidding? The White Stripes were a Jack White solo project too. Edit: Like the new track, though. Always good to have new Jack White projects, .

Rubio also leads the league in steals. Er, sorry, TOTAL steals. He's going to demolish the franchise record for steals and might set the franchise record for assists too. As a rookie. He's pretty good, I guess.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 08:25 AM) Deservedly so. Why does he deserve it? At least he didn't walk away from it just to avoid contact and the potential embarrassment. Plus it was a really, really, really obvious offensive foul on Griffin for clearing out with his off hand. Doesn't make the dunk itself less impressive, but something that obvious should be called.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 12:11 AM) Oh I agree. Just saying. They got a big road win against a very good Denver team last night and pretty much obliterated the Thunder tonight. If Paul can stay on the court from this point on, they're the best team, IMO, in that division with upside. Their starters are good, but they have a very thin team. Ryan Gomes and Randy Foye are both awful, and while Reggie Evans is an elite rebounder, that's literally all he does. When healthy, they have a nice sixth man in Mo Williams (who, of course, is nowhere near as good as he's been so far this season), but other than that their bench is pretty terrible. Obviously their starters are going to take them to the playoffs and might even make some noise in the first round, but I'd be surprised if they went any further than that without seriously rectifying their support. Add in the fact that Vinny Del Negro is an awful coach and yeah, I'm not expecting them to go too far. Basically, I have them in the same tier as the Wolves. Their starters are definitely better (mostly because of the black holes caused by Wes Johnson and Darko Milicic), but I'm not terribly convinced they're a much better overall team, ESPECIALLY when factoring in coaching. When fully healthy they're probably a better team than Minnesota, but I don't think the difference is as big as the media generally suggests. Interestingly enough, Hollinger's power rankings agree with this. edit: Of course, the Clippers have a huge advantage over Minnesota based simply on division. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Clip end up the 4 seed, if only because their only competition in the Pacific (the Lakers) is also a mess right now.

QUOTE (SouthSideTeacher @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) Of course a ROSE/HOWARD combo would be incredibly effective... but if God forbid one of them were to go down with an injury, what good does it do you to send your entire supporting cast--as well as future draft picks and a TON of cash-- packing? They'd still just be a one man show. Ugh. Maybe I'm just not the gambling type. What happens to the Bulls if Rose gets hurt right now? Spoiler alert: they'd make the playoffs (MAYBE) and lose in the first round.

There are only 3 teams in the Western Conference with an above .500 record on the road: Oklahoma City, Denver and Minnesota.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) 5 boards for Love? Bizarro world for the Wolves though Rubio is still awesome. Rubio is stealing all his rebounds
