  1. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) What about that second basemen from Cuba? He's supposed to be incredible, possibly better than Gooch. Only question is, is he MLB ready? I love Gooch though, but this is a business, and I am ALWAYS willing to upgrade, anywhere, if possible. He's going to make too much money for the Sox to be even remotely interested. They've already got something like 90+ million tied up in 15 players or so for next year.
  2. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:56 AM) he'd clear waivers in all likelihood. Teams know he is hurt and plus he makes a little bit of money. Not a ton but probably enough to dissuade them from the flyer He doesn't have to clear waivers if he was put back on the DL (which is the case)
  3. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) Sorry guys.... can I get an official definition of LOOGY? I don't feel like looking it up right now... Sounds good to me It's a lefty specialist.

    Left field

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) He's shown flashes of that first half player. But Ozzie bringing him in to face Rivera was a joke. An absolute joke. He was brought in to face Farnsworth I believe, not Rivera.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) Yes, and I was supporting what you said. I'm enjoying your posts lately. You're back to your overly optimistic views from last year, but we need that for the good of this site. I'm not even trying to sound optimistic, I just don't think the season is over (which it isn't by the way). There are many things that the team isn't doing well right now, but everyone else is pointing that out, why should I too?
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:30 AM) Yep, and it's going to happen. Sure, you'd like to see better ABs and a guy like PK go out of his way to avoid the double play. However, that's baseball, and if it wasn't for those 4 guys, we'd be below .500 this year with our pitching. I hope you know I was joking... right?
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) Thome, PK, Dye, and Crede have earned the right to not receive crap after every play they do. But... they all fail 7 out of 10 times they come to the plate!
  8. There was also the opening day homerun. I believe that ended up being the winning run.
  9. I'll be surprised if anyone doesn't vote for Crede.
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) And here's another one he should've had, but Politte blew the save. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...p&team=away QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:17 AM) There was also the third game in Pittsburgh where he tied the game up on a shot. The game wasn't won (stupid walkoff homerun for the Pirates), but it was still a big hit.
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:16 AM) Good call Tito, that's 2 game winning HRs (non walkoffs) right there that he's had this year, both of which were in huge clutch situations and agianst good teams (Twins, Cards). There was also the third game in Pittsburgh where he tied the game up on a shot. The game wasn't won (stupid walkoff homerun for the Pirates), but it was still a big hit.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 11:58 PM) But if you're going to pull him after allowing one hit, you might as well just let the fresh pitcher start that inning. This is an argument many of us have had all year. Why wait for the pitcher to fail...give someone else the chance to come in and pitch better. As you know, our starting pitchers are not pitching to their abilities this year....we can't keep throwing them out there late in games and acting surprised that they're not getting the job done. Because he wants to try and get out of it preserving the bullpen. I see your point, and I tentitively agree, but I can't blame Ozzie for trying to save his bullpen in the middle of this stretch without a day off. Also, keep in mind the score at the time. I understand that you play to win every game, but if you have a chance to save the bullpen an arm so they could be used the next day when the score is closer and your team has a better chance at winning, you might want to take it. I mean seriously, who wants to waste arms during a blowout?
  13. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) He has no business getting thrown out there for the start of the 7th with over 100 pitches already. Then Ozzie decides to pitch to Ghey-Rod with 1st base open. Ozzie is really grinding my gears. Ozzie kept him in to save his bullpen, which has already been used a lot on streak of 24 consecutive games in 24 days. He wanted to get more out of him to save the pen some work, but it didn't work out. I can't blame Ozzie for that.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) Then this statement is false. How so? There are defensive numbers too, such as defensive win shares (where Crede had 4.6 and A-Rod has 2.2) or fielding runs above replacement (where Crede is at 23 and A-Rod is at 0).
  15. Anyway, I'm going to put my laptop away and just watch the game. This thread has become a joke, like most losing game threads.
  16. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) um... the tigers are actually good and can pitch the hell outta the ball. you're season tickets at wrigley are still availible The Tigers have lost their last two. THEIR SEASON IS OVER!!!!!!!!!1
  17. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) OMG YOU'RE RIGHT! I WAS WRONG Reading your posts, one would think they were 50 games back.
  18. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) please point out some fact any fact ANYTHING that points to this team going anywhere this year. gimmie something besides "they haven't hit their stride" or "detroit is gonna come back to earth" or "they won it last year" or "dont' question ozzie, he won it all last year" They are in first place for the wild card.
  19. QUOTE(zenryan @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) exactly! so damn tired of hearing these fans saying everything will be ok and the season isnt over yet. there arent any signs of things turning around anytime soon Oh, I'm sorry, have 162 games been played this year by the White Sox? No? Then the season isn't over.
  20. QUOTE(rafacosta @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) It is amazing...I am feeling sick of just watching these Sox games this week... They are 7-4 in their last 11. If you are sick from that.. well.. you take it WAY too seriously.
  21. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) let's hope against hope and wish upon a star!!! That would be funny, but you were probably saying the game was over yesterday before the 9th even started. It's NOT over, nor is this season. If you don't want to believe that, good for you, but you're wrong.
  22. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 09:34 PM) Your defending World Champs folks... A BIG F'N JOKE psst, they've won 7 out of their last 11. Get real if you think they'll win every game. Plus, this game isn't over, nor is any game, until the final out.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 09:33 PM) Couldn't we have traded 4 crappy prospects for Abreu? And eat his contract? Unless you don't want an entire 25 man roster next year with major league players, no.
  24. I would say something about how Garland is getting his name in the Cy Young race, but it would hurt too much.
  25. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 09:28 PM) thanks hawk. good teams overcome things like that Yep, this team isn't good at all. They SUCK.
