QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 02:35 PM) You stay classy, Cubs fans.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 08:01 AM) Well, maybe everyone on this site. The ESPN "experts" all fell in line picking the cubs outside of two of them http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2007...s?series=chcari but more SI "experts" picked the D-backs than picked the Cubs http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/si_blogs/...taff-picks.html The "experts" picks are based off of what will drive ratings. John Kruk even admitted in a radio interview that ESPN forced him change his picks for Baseball tonight, "the ESPN brass tried to stiff arm him into saying he thought the Yankees would be leading the AL East by June." They give false hope to Cubs fans knowing that it will cause them to tune in. There is no "expert" analysis that I am not cynical about.

Bahahah, Cubs lose. I am officially on the Arizona bandwagon for the playoffs!

QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 01:27 AM) That is really really strong attendance. There once was a time a season like this would have meant horrible attendance. 2005 and 2006, despite not making the playoffs, were exciting seasons. If 2008 is like 2007, expect USCF to be empty in 2009.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 05:17 PM) Wow, the Rocks just keep on rolling. Rockies-D'backs NLCS? While a disaster for the ratings, that is a good thing for baseball. On some level I would like to see COL/ARI NLCS & LAA/CLE ALCS with either COL/CLE or ARI/CLE in the World Series just so Fox has really s***ty ratings for the third year in a row. Maybe, just maybe, MLB would get the memo to Fox, EPSN, et al to hype promote more than just East Coast teams for the sake of the game. Casual sports fans will tune in and watch if they know who the hell is playing.

Haha, very nice.

SNAKES WIN!

QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 11:24 PM) It's funny. Some rich baseball players retire and just live off their current millions and future pension. Others decide to coach and/or broadcast. I wonder what makes some ballplayers just golf the rest of their lives and live off the cashola. And what makes others keep working. Does it have to do with ego? Laziness? Desire to acquire even more money? Some people just need to keep busy. Lots of people think it would great to not have to work every day, but not having anything to do can get real old real fast.

QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) That shouldn't have anything to do with people being idiots. I think plenty of people are idiots, and I'm a sophomore in college. Does that mean I'm wrong about everyone that I think is an idiot? Get off my lawn!

LOL @ 1908 in the crowd.

Wow, Blue gave Z that one....

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) If Young has a monster MVP like series, the trade is almost worth it ... Yeah... almost...

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 10:05 PM) That Bartman article is f***ed up. What a bunch of sleazy reporters. Yeah, even if he isn't a Cubs fan he has to hope they win the WS so he gets left the f*** alone.
-
QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 09:45 PM) Bartman's life hasn't changed much. Still reclusive. Cubs fans are so classy: There was some idiot on ESPN last night saying that if he would strangle Bartman if he saw him walking down LaSalle Street. They should just leave the guy alone, he didn't cause them to lose game 6 (Prior could have struck Castillo out to end the eight inning) or lose game 7.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 06:19 PM) It's obvious that AJ Pierzynski is the future of the White Sox broadcast booth. Quoted for truth. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 06:51 PM) Just curious, do you have the MLB Extra Innings package? This is so true. I'm out of market, and with EI you normally get the home team announcers (Also if it is a home game on WCIU I get the away feed). Sometimes during the season I went a week or so with out Hawk & DJ. They do some annoying stuff, but there is A LOT worse out there.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 11:44 PM) They did just enough to keep the alcoholics buying their beer. When the Sox won, the drunks suddenly demanded a little more than a couple of big names and a loss. Bingo. Prior to 2005 it didn't really, in the grand scheme of things, matter if the Cubs were a winning baseball team. There were butts in seats and high ratings of TV and Radio, all that the Tribune Company cared about.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 05:51 PM) Best hitting coach in baseball. Hopefully you are all out in your backyards, spraying aerosols and emitting greenhouse gasses. We need to enact global warming by next April. Because if its cold again, it maybe the start of Perfect Storm II, Electric Boogaloo. Then we will start flipping baseball cards, and hear about not being loosey goosey and its all over. I knew Al Gore at to be at fault somehow...

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 30, 2007 -> 02:39 AM) Am I reading too much into this quote? Yes, you are reading too much in to it. KW prefaced that comment with "This is going to get in trouble with the rumor mill" or something to that effect. A reporter asked if there was enough money to go after free agents, or if there were certain free agents that were out of reach, and that was KW's response, that there is no free agent that are not even going to look at based on money.

September 29th: Detroit vs. Chicago
Linnwood replied to Flash Tizzle's topic in 2007 Season in Review
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 29, 2007 -> 11:06 PM) What did KW say exactly? It didn't sound to me like KW was talking about brining Pods back, but rather that he wasn't going to announce it at a press conference before talking to Pods first. -
QUOTE(danman31 @ Sep 30, 2007 -> 12:23 AM) I'd rather win. What he said.

White Sox, A.J. Pierzynski agree on two-year extension

QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Sep 29, 2007 -> 04:48 PM) whitesox.com article thoughts? I don't have much to add other than that I am very happy about this. AJP is an asset to the team. (And his "baggage" is media bulls***, and everyone knows it.) -
You know it is funny, there was a thread a while back about the fate of the ball and I said I would destroy if I had caught it and quite a few people called me, in so many words, a liar. Saying that one one would do that. Well this guy is going to do one better, he PAID for it and he might destroy it. Bravo sir.

I can't say I am angry about this.
