  1. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:19 PM) Wonder if KW bites the bullet and cuts his loses with Masset? Unfortunately do they have another real choice for long relief? Honestly, on this one, he didn't pitch as bad as his numbers. He was left in too long, I think. Once he walked Young it was clear he was out of gas, and he had a lefty coming up against him.
  2. OK, can we take him out now? This no longer helps anyone.
  3. AJ looking awfully good this year defensively as well as offensively.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:04 PM) In the right role, he'd be one of the best bench players in the league who could also be a defensive sub. Yeah. But I think he can also be starting quality on the right club, which I think was one of the reasons they shipped him to KC. He's doing pretty well there. If Gload gets full time play at 1B, to me, he can be a Wally Joyner type guy. Problem is, in the modern game, there really aren't too many Joyner type guys at 1B - they want more power from that position.
  5. Charlotte loses 10-3. Ohka and Day pummelled, Anderson, Perez and Russell with a scoreless inning each. Fields 1-4, K. Rouse with solo HR. Getz with the silver sombrero.
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) Yeah, Gload was so effective. I'd suggest he was plenty effective - he just had no good role on this team.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 07:13 PM) Nice play by Konerko on a rather lazy defensive play by Cabrera. After a week of watching him at SS, there's no doubt in my mind that Uribe was better defensively. I have to agree. I wonder if they'd consider flipping those two.
  8. Danks looks like he's also over-throwing, and his motion has gotten inconsistent again.
  9. Wow. I missed the first 2 frames, but in this half inning, the Twins are getting hits on some half-way swings on good pitches.
  10. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 06:14 PM) Andrew Sisco having "tommy john" surgery? Is that a question or a statement? Source?
  11. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) or Logan, who looks totally stupid with a non-styled whatever that is... Just curious... how would one "style" a long chin beard anyway? Tie it pretty little braids? Maybe sme cornrows? Dye it fire engine red?
  12. QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 05:23 PM) these options suck Thanks for your insightful retort. Very classy.
  13. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 03:40 PM) This is from ESPN... Wow, that's a nice little analysis right there.
  14. That will be the end of any crappy posts in here directed at other posters. Any more and the thread will be closed. If you have issues with our disciplinary measures, please feel free to PM me or another Mod or Admin. That is all.
  15. QUOTE (SoxWS05 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 01:50 PM) You may be a Sox fan but deep down inside you were hoping Crede would fail, so your man-crush Fields could come up. I can't believe you said it would be moronic to trade Fields for Harden or Lincecum! These players are easily double the value of Fields. I expected to be called a moron for even suggesting Fields is worth the value of Lincecum or Harden. Harden would be an injury risk, but he's dominant. Lincecum is just plain filthy. If we got either we would be contenders for real. Guess what? The Sox have money and no one player is going to "suck payroll flexibility" as you put it. YOU think before you post son. You need to stop, or you need to not post in here. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 02:28 PM) Dude please just stop that... nobody wants to be all mad when they see a new post in this thread, click it, and find out that all the new posts are part of the same petty garbage ass argument that's got nothing to do with anything. Nobody wins. ^^^^ What he said. Let's get back on topic, shall we?
  16. Charlotte @ Toledo, 6:30pm EDT, Ohka gets the start B-Ham @ Chattanooga, already underway, winning 3-0 through 7. Collaro with a 2B, R and RBI, and Richard pitched 6 shutout innings. Lynchburg @ W-S, already underway, so far scoreless in the 9th. Ely pitched 6 scoreless. Kanny lost to Asheville, 11-3. Gallagher with 3 hits while DH'ing, Paiml with a 2B, R and RBI, and 3 pitchers took the beating.
  17. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 11:50 AM) The single biggest thing when you get an interview that you can't really prepare for all that well (and take it from someone who has been looking for someone for three months now to fill a position) is be comfortable in who you are and don't blow smoke up someone's ass. Answer directly, honestly, and again, I can't say it enough, be confident, but not cocky. Besides that, give concrete, tangible examples to questions that they ask... what are your strengths? Be able to confidently answer that. What are your weaknesses? Same thing - be confident in your answers and don't him-haw around. Adding on to this, in a similar vein... don't be afraid to say you don't know something. Especially if you are recently out of school, they are not looking for an expert in most things. If you try to act as if you are, that will backfire most of the time. Better to emphasize what you do know, and what strengths you bring, and also be honest about things you don't know.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 11:29 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3336898 One of the Braves top prospects (top 30 by BA) got busted for HGH. 50 game suspension Interesting, the article says nothing of HOW they caught him.
  19. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) I'd much rather be bashing McCain. There's plenty there to use OK well, just to keep things tidy, when the Dems do in fact decide on a nominee, we will probably have more than just one McCain v Obama thread. There may be one general one, and then people should start seperate threads for significant discussions. Or we might even have one bash-bucket thread for each candidate, maybe one poll thread, and then everything else can be put into seperate threads for actual discussions.
  20. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:15 AM) I have been backing off of the Clinton attacks. i just found that article interesting. We have been hearing about how she owes so much money, but I found it odd no one is taking her to collections. Now it appears they might. But, I bet the Clintons pay these guys off just to stop the story. OK. I'm not going to stop anyone from posting negative bits on the candidates, go right ahead. It just seems to be a bit much with the nitpicky things about Clinton. Heck I don't like her as a candidate either, but, it gets a bit much. I guess what I really want is for Obama to win PA and take the superdelegate lead, so that this thing can be over and we can get to the general election.
  21. QUOTE (mu mu @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 08:47 AM) Did they change the smoking policies at the cell? It used to be that you could smoke out on any of the ramps, but before the game started Monday, I heard them announce you could *only* smoke at Gate 5. My seats happened to be right at Gate 5, so I would've smoked out that gate anyway, but I'm curious what the situation was at the other gates/ramps. Smoking intolerance is just getting crazy! It did indeed change - you now cannot smoke anywhere in The Cell except for outside by Gate 5. And I agree its a little insane. I can fully understand not allowing smoking in the seats, the ailses, and the concourse areas - especially with kids around. No need for the majority of us to breathe other peoples' smoke. But I thought the ramps was a reasonable compromise.
  22. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:58 AM) Will the Clinton Campaign be sent to collections? hehehe Dude. I know this is the thread about the remaining 2 Dem candidates, but, what its become is the 5 posts per day about failings in the Clinton campaign. Do we need to start a seperate thread for those? Because its getting a bit over the top, don't you think?
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) Fields stinks right now. Its waaaaaaay early. For one thing, he's probably pissed about the demotion, so give him a few games to get that out of his system. For another thing, one would hope he's down there to accomplish a few specific things - timing fastballs, cutting down the K's, and working on defense at 3B. Since he's doing those things, his numbers may not be an accurate reflection of his progress.
