  1. This is neither here nor there but I was watching the Indians game today and MAAAAN was there some extended silence. One batter got to a 2-2 count before the announcers had said a word. It was weird and awkward. It wasn't petulant silence like Hawk, though. Not sure if that makes it better or worse.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 11:29 PM) I went to the game on Saturday, but I generally refuse to go to games in April unless asked. You couldn't have paid me to go to Friday night's extra innings game in rainy 30 degree weather. When it is June and it's like this, then you can complain. But April baseball is horrible, I don't care how hardcore you are as a fan. Fair enough. It has been pretty dreadful the last week. And it really is too soon to know whether or not progress has been made. Results not encouraging thus far though.
  3. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 10:07 PM) I'm offended by it just the same. The onus is on the White Sox to field a team that people want to see. Yeah, but how is that defined? I mean, it's self-evident that Sox fans don't consider this team to be good enough to watch, but there are many fanbases for whom a young, dominant true ace pitcher just coming into his own on one of the first nice afternoons of the season would be a big draw. That's not true here in Chicago.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 09:54 PM) Booya. I called the walk-off to my wife. First called shot of the year. With a 2-0 count, I told her, watch, he's going to get an elevated fastball and park it...sure enough Tank crushed it!!! Yeah that 2-seamer tailed RIGHT into the heart of the plate...and his bat. If I was an opposing pitcher in a situation like that, I don't think there's any way I throw a get-me-over to the Sox. Currently, they're more likely to kill something that gets too much of the plate than to manufacture a run via a BB. Especially to Viciedo. Right now, his only offensive tool is crushing mistakes over the plate.
  5. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 09:53 PM) I go to over 50 games a year, season ticket holder. Then I don't think you're included in the picture's target group
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 09:45 PM) I'm offended by that picture. Who are you to tell the White Sox fan how to spend their money and why is being a good fan dependent upon buying tickets? Are you in the area and planning on going to games? If not, why not?
  7. Well I know I will be going when school's done, but that doesn't help in April
  8. Sox fans are the kings and queens of excuses, as far as I can tell. It's just not a hardcore fanbase outside of message boards. It's relatively large but fickle. If the Sox aren't dominant, the response is lukewarm at best, which is why it'd be pure lunacy to tear down completely. Of course, fading down the stretch several times of late takes the wind out of the sails, too.
  9. Is it just me or do Addison Reed and Nick Swisher seem like they could be besties? (This did not deserve its own thread. Thanks, catchall!)
  10. And AJ used to do it when Bobby Jenks was breaking legs with his power curve. Up the ladder.
  11. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 05:41 PM) Random thought: In the 8 years AJ was here I don't think I remember him once putting up the super high, get out of your squat target. Flowers/Gimenez have both done it at least a dozen times so far this year. And I don't think it's worked once haha. All balls. Well they're supposed to be out of the zone most of the time. If they're in the zone, they're likely to get clobbered. You want guys to chase. Some guys are good at laying off but at least a couple have struck out on high fastballs against our relievers, that I recall.
  12. 3 ball just plain murdered in cold blood today. Would be great if we could get people on in front of them, but man were those bombs things of beauty.
  13. QUOTE (Real @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) I thought Greg walker was gone, f***ing lift and pull in full effect Damn straight! Thanks, Selig!
  14. Who do I petition for a walkoff? Is that Selig's department?
  15. Watching a Japanese stream and they keep showing replays of homers during breaks without any setup. They just showed Dunn's first one and I jumped out of my seat, thinking it was live. Jerks.
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 04:38 PM) WOW Alexei. He was going to pull back but finished his swing when he knew he could get the base. Very smart and yes I'm giving him credit for that. I think you may be right, given that he didn't wait an instant to get out of the box
  17. MOTHERF******!! Really??? We need a giant magnet to forcibly remove the horseshoe from Iwakamura's butt.
