  1. I wonder if it would be possible for SoxTalk to contact Singleton and get him to do a Q & A or chat session here. We could ask him questions like how he got interested in doing radio, how horrible Jerry Manuel was as a manager, how he felt to get traded for Willie Harris.
  2. He was considering an offer to stay with the Sox but the Score offered him garbage money.
  3. I love Corey Maggette. I went to high school with him and he was a great guy. Smart too. This guy was in NBA shape when he was a sophomore in high school. He once dunked over me in socks. I always wished that the Bulls would draft or trade for him one day.
  4. Boras and his clients = a monopoly Boras hordes together all the best free agents. If teams want the top free agents they are forced to pay his ridiculously high price.
  5. Almost as horrible as the color you chose for your signature. Good lord, I'm blind.
  6. Awhile ago, I seem to remember hearing that Singleton was trying to get into radio work. I still remember that great season he had in 1999.
  7. If Politte, Cotts, and Hermanson regress a bit our bullpen will be in trouble. And they are all good candidates to regress since they all pretty much had career years last season.
  8. http://baseballanalysts.com/archives/2006/...tny_75_50_1.php He likes Anderson quite a bit but seems to think Young is a bit overrated. I just hope we kept the right center fielder.
  9. If Fields makes a big step at Charlotte, doesn't anyone think Crede will be traded after 2006? I wonder if a Mackowiak/Fields platoon at 3B is a possibility for 2007.
  10. It's funny because the Orioles have gone through quite a few players that could have done roids at some point in their careers... Brady Anderson Manny Alexander Tony Batista Rafael Palmeiro Miguel Tejada Javy Lopez Sammy Sosa
  11. I can see why the Angels are trying to save money somewhere... That's a lot of good players to lock up right there.
  12. Contreras for Brazoban and a couple pitching prospects?
  13. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brew/jan06/384521.asp There has to be some team out there that will claim Branyan for a buck. $800,000 isn't much money at all for the power production Branyan could provide and if the team wanted to cut him loose in spring training they would only have to pay him $160,000. Branyan can also play some LF and 1B. Hell, we gave Timo a million to sit on the bench last season. My money is on the Twins to pick him up. Tony Batista sucks.

  15. Indeed. If we are trading anyone as of right now, it's Contreras. Regardless of who is the better pitcher, Vazquez is under the Sox control for 3 seasons. Contreras is only under the Sox control for 1 season and they get no for compensation if they lose him to free agency. It's just common sense. If anyone is getting traded it's Contreras. Back to Vazquez... I think he will pitch like Freddy did when we first acquired him -- crappy at the Cell and good on the road. And just like Freddy, I think Vazquez will get a little better at pitching at the Cell after awhile. Freddy put up a horrid 5.37 ERA at the Cell in 2004 but improved to a 4.38 ERA at the Cell in 2005. Vazquez will probably work on his sinker a bit more at the Cell and that will help him keep the ball in the park.
  16. I think the Orioles are missing one more big slugger to bat behind Tejada in the cleanup spot. Javy Lopez isn't the hitter he once was and while Gibbons can hit for power, he doesn't get on base much. But if Patterson pans out and Conine stays healthy and puts up his usual decent numbers, their offense should be fine. Their pitching staff on the other hand...
  17. Bajenaru could make the team even if Hermanson is healthy if Ozzie elects to go with seven guys in the bullpen instead of six. We could have only four guys off the bench (Mackowiak, Ozuna, Borchard, Widger) due to Mackowiak and Ozuna's versatility. I assume that Ozzie automatically wants to add a lefty regardless of what he chooses to do.
  18. Tejada sure will be happy! 2B Brian Roberts 3B Melvin Mora SS Miguel Tejada DH Javy Lopez RF Jay Gibbons 1B Kevin Millar C Ramon Hernandez CF Corey Patterson LF Jeff Conine The sad thing is that it's probably better than the Cubs' lineup.
  19. Here's the scarier part of the article... http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws
