  1. You stated that Crede and Blalock were even players. I quoted you above. Those were your words, not mine. Now you are trying to deny that you ever said it. Does Sizemore produce more runs than Podsednik? Yes. I don't care if he doesn't steal bases like Podsednik. He produces more runs and that's why he's a better leadoff hitter. Do you want more stolen bases from your leadoff hitter or more runs? The answer is quite obvious.
  2. Nothing I have said is untrue or made up. In the past, you have stated that Podsednik is a better leadoff hitter than Sizemore. This is false because Sizemore will produce more runs in that role than Podsednik. Afterall, scoring runs is the most important thing for a leadoff hitter to do right? Earlier in this thread you stated that Crede and Blalock were even players. Here's the post: This is also false as Blalock is clearly a better player than Crede. You shouldn't make statements if you intend to deny them later on in a debate. It ruins the credibility of your argument.

  4. Jphat seems to use stats to show that our players are better than any players on any other team. He can't seem to accept that players like Grady Sizemore and Hank Blalock are better than Scott Podsednik and Joe Crede.
  5. Says who? I haven't heard that at all. In fact, I heard the opposite -- that the Sox are concerned with the two herniated discs in Crede's back.

  7. Good thing there's a lot more righty pitchers than lefties in the league for Blalock to rake on, huh? Crede: .787 career OPS vs. Left / .726 career OPS vs. Right Blalock: .624 career OPS vs. Left / .880 career OPS vs. Right Blalock is worth his weakness against lefties because he is so strong against righties. Crede is only above average against lefties and weak against righties. There's a lot more righthanded pitchers in baseball than lefties. Factor in Blalock's modest contract (4-years, $20 million) like fathom said and you will see why no GM in baseball would rather have Crede over Blalock.
  8. Sorry, my point was that they both do.
  9. Not if you look at their stats. Blalock's defensive stats are a lot closer to Crede's defensive stats than Crede's offensive stats are close to Blalock's offensive stats. Keep in mind, Crede also plays in a great hitter's park just like Blalock.
  10. It's up at WhiteSox.com: White Sox reward Pierzynski Once a nomad, catcher finds home with three-year deal http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws
  11. Good deal, considering what Ramon Hernandez got (4-years, $27.5 million). AJ better stop swinging for the fences though. I'd rather have the Pierzynski who hit less homers but put up a .290 AVG and .330 OBP.
  12. Defensively, Crede is better. Offensively, Blalock is better.
  13. He's a better hitter than Crede and while his glove isn't as good as Crede's, it's still pretty damn good. He also has a modest 4-year, $20 million contract. And the Cell isn't an inflated ballpark? Who do you suggest we trade Garland for? Because he is going to be traded one way or the other.
  14. I disagree. Teams would value a full season of Garland more than a half season of him. He has more value now than at the deadline, especially with the currently insane market for free agent pitchers. Garland will be traded before the season starts.
  15. It makes sense. Garland and his agent would have to be idiots to accept a modest 3-year deal from the Sox when they can wait a season and get a 5 or 6 year deal at $10+ million per year. Not a tough choice to make.
  16. This is the way I feel. I'd rather have a proven player under contract for awhile or good prospects than one year of Garland and draft picks.
  17. He will join Bob Wickman as having the worst stuff of any pitchers ever to be a closer.
