  1. It would be nice if the Rangers also threw in a pitching prospect but I like the deal. We are going to lose Garland after 2006 anyways and Crede soon after. We would have Blalock on a cheap 3-year deal. Podsednik (lefty) Iguchi (righty) Thome (lefty) Konerko (righty) Blalock (lefty) Dye (righty) Pierzynski (lefty) Uribe (righty) Anderson (righty) That lineup kicks ass.
  2. He may be playing quite a bit at third base if Crede's back forces him to miss time. Either way, DaVanon could be a fifth outfielder then. He can also play every outfield position. He would probably be a better option than Borchard or Timo.
  3. It might be. The Angels had only designated DaVanon for assignment at the time. They still had 10 days to trade him but he went unclaimed so they just released him instead.
  4. In center field, Jones' numbers wouldn't be bad but KW has to save some money somewhere and he is doing it with Anderson there. KW seems to love Anderson.
  5. Not quite. Those stats you posted still show that Blalock is better.
  6. How about these simpler stats? Crede's career stats: .255 AVG, .303 OBP, .439 SLG, .743 OPS Blalock's career stats: .274 AVG, .338 OBP, .471 SLG, .809 OPS Keep in mind that both players have played in hitter's parks for their entire careers.
  7. Jock Jones is awful, IMO. He plays good defense but he can't hit lefties at all. His numbers have also declined over the past few years. No thanks.
  8. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6411/s...dir1_.oMaaFCLcF Batting 1st: 2 AB Batting 2nd: 1 AB Batting 5th: 5 AB Batting 6th: 11 AB Batting 7th: 58 AB Batting 8th: 253 AB Batting 9th: 102 AB Uribe mostly batted 9th if you recall.
  9. I don't know if we should trade for Blalock or not but why do people worry so much that he only hits well at Ameriquest? Would he not hit at the Cell as well?
  10. Hehe, what an absolutely pathetic pickup. This bum was released by a Japanese team and he will probably start for the Twins.
  11. Just because we beat him doesn't mean he sucks. Lidge is one of the best closers in the MLB. He also owns both righties and lefties if you look at his splits.

  13. It now sounds like Garland will be traded: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=44409
  14. Yep, both were in the TEX league last season and both of their ERA's shot up to well over 5. And I had to make a new avatar just because of this thread.
  15. I just noticed that after looking at their respective numbers. It must feel pretty brutal to have both of your top pitching prospects stuggle mightily when they get bumped up from A to AA.
  16. The Rangers could offer Thomas Diamond and John Danks for Garland.
  17. Philly fans should be too embarrassed to wear their jerseys right now. Their team is the joke of the 2005 NFL season.
  18. Good point. The quote mentions McCarthy being in the trade, not Garland.

  20. There's definately a reason the Padres traded Mark Loretta for Doug Mirabelli and it's because Olivo isn't very good.
  21. Garland wants to test free agency and see how high the bids go. KW and Garland's agent have said as much. Whatever team we trade Garland to would have to understand that they may only have him for one season.
  22. True, but they wouldn't give up Lidge for one year of Garland. I doubt Garland and Anderson would bring Lidge either.
