  1. Which is why he would cost a ton.
  2. Taveras is the type of player Ozzie would love. He's a great bunter, can steal a lot of bases, and plays good defense. But Brian Anderson will be better. The Astros are shopping Lidge for an outfielder... http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports...ez/3516766.html

  4. Unfortunately, Mecir announced his retirement in early October due to shoulder and knee problems... http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/12796185.htm Here's a list of available free agent relievers though... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/features/fre...il&positionId=0
  5. Brian West's minor league numbers
  6. Can you believe that this guy pitched for us? Man, our rotation was brutal a few years ago. Danny Wright. :puke
  7. All of them were #1 overall draft picks.
  8. I wish. His routine makes me sick. It gives me seizures just watching it.
  9. Come on... even Cubs fans call him that. I didn't make it up.
  10. The difference between Mulder and Garland is that Mulder had a reasonable $7.25 million team option for 2006. The Cardinals knew they would have Mulder for at least two years. Whatever team we trade Garland to would only have him for one season before he hits free agency. That lowers Garland's trade value.
  11. Vizcaino pitched one inning in the postseason. What does that tell you?
  12. He netted us Harold Baines and Charles Johnson in a trade at the deadline for our division run in 2000. Charles Johnson was a beast that year. Jorge Fabregas, Peter North look-a-like.
  13. You don't remember "The Little Hurt"?
  14. Ugliest catcher in MLB history. Mike Caruso.

  16. Actually, it was who would end the season with the higher AVG. I said Uribe would, you said Crede would. Both players ended the season with a .252 AVG so we either both won or both lost.
  17. It would be nice to see him go anywhere but the Indians.

  19. I can see people not liking the trade because we lost Chris Young. Understandable. I think (hope) everyone realizes that getting rid of El Duque (5.12 ERA, 1.46 WHIP) was a good thing. He is old, ineffective as a starter, and overpaid. He was solely a salary dump. But I can't believe an extremely mediocre reliever like Luis Vizcaino will be missed. I know you guys watched him pitch last season. He gave up baserunners like it was no one's business (1.47 WHIP). He is easily replaceable. I see this trade being Chris Young for Javier Vazquez + $5 million and a combined $6 million salary dump of two mediocre to bad pitchers. I hate losing Young but it still makes sense to me, especially when I think Garland will definately be a goner after 2006 if we keep him.
  20. This is actually one of the reasons why I think the Vazquez trade was good. We gave up an old, ineffective, and overpaid starter in El Duque and a mediocre reliever in Vizcaino. Don't be surprised if one of these young guys puts up an ERA and WHIP similar to or better than Vizcaino. That's not bad as the last man out of your bullpen. The only player of value that we gave up is Young.
  21. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines He thinks Garland could be traded for pitching prospects. And the great Baj or Sean Tracey could replace Viz.

  24. With KW's latest wheelings and dealings, could the life of a Cubs fan get any worse? Yes, it can... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...ack=1&cset=true Just brutal.
