  1. We will. Vazquez gave up his right to become a free agent after 2007 when he demanded a trade. We will be able to offer him arbitration after the 2007 season.
  2. It could just be that the Sox showed some interest in Kotsay but it will never happen, just like half of Bruce Levine's trade proposals (Willie Harris for Wes Helms).
  3. Mark Kotsay, center fielder for the A's. He plays great defense and would make a great #2 hitter.
  4. Associated Press reporter Rob Blum is on MLB radio speculating that the Sox will look to get Mark Kotsay for center field. I wonder if he's related to Geoff. I doubt this happens though. We need to save money somewhere and KW loves Anderson.
  5. +$11.5 million (Vazquez's 2006 salary) -$4.0 million (cash from Diamondbacks) -$4.5 million (El Duque's 2006 salary) -$1.5 million (Vizcaino's estimated 2006 salary) ---------------------------------------------- +$1.5 million The Sox will only be adding $1.5 million to their 2006 salary with the addition of Javier Vazquez.
  6. Report: Dodgers sign 3B Mueller http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AoUl...ov=st&type=lgns
  7. It was just a joke. But I do think you are overrating Uribe's clubhouse presence, especially when he barely speaks english. I like Uribe but give me the best hitter at his position in the MLB over Juanito.
  8. We should trade for Neifi Perez then. I see him talking to the Cubs pitchers a lot.
  9. I see Tejada hugging his teammates a lot, but it's not in that weird 2004 Red Sox way.
  10. The article at the MLB.com sites is from early this morning. The latest outside sources have Vizcaino going to Arizona in the deal.
  11. I think Cooper will turn him around some but I think he will be similar to Garcia, he will be great on the road but struggle at the Cell. That ain't bad though.
  12. Haha, I was going to post this. Have you guys heard Uribe talk? He can BARELY string a few words together in English. He pretty much just says the same sentence over and over again. There's no way he's having deep conversations with guys like Konerko and Pierzynski.
  13. Who is The Underground? Is he a new wrestler in the WWF? That sounds good though. The Yankees had originally sent the Diamondbacks $6 million to help pay for Vazquez's contract so we are getting almost all of that.
  14. El Duque was awful last season and was due to earn $4.5 million + incentives in 2006. It's shocking to me that we were able to dump him. Vizcaino was mediocre to bad with a 1.47 WHIP last season and could be easily replaced by a myriad of last arm in the bullpen options. Chris Young is the only player of good value that we lost. And I'm pretty sure that Dolgin is wrong about the $5 million. The online reports have Arizona sending us money in the deal.
  15. Dolgin doesn't have BRUUUUUUUUUUCE to give him the inside info anymore.
  16. First of all, I can't believe ANYONE is going to miss Luis Vizcaino and his 1.47 WHIP. Second, Garland could be dealt which will make room for McCarthy as our fifth starter. I understand missing Chris Young though.
  17. Garland's age and durability would be a huge reason that he'd be at the top of the list. Garland will be a 27 year old pitcher that has never had a history of injury (knock on wood) when he is a free agent. An injury-plagued and older A.J. Burnett got a 5-year, $55 million deal. What do you think Garland is going to get?
  18. KW basically traded Chris Young for a starter to replace Garland. We will have control of Vazquez for 3 years. Garland wants to test the free agent market after 2006 and we will likely lose him. He is going to get a Burnett-sized contract. We didn't lose much if anything giving up El Duque and Vizcaino.
  19. "Go check out what Burnett got while I laugh all the way to the bank."
  20. Garland has the same agent as Konerko -- Craig Landis.
  21. Wow, did anyone just hear that short clip of an interview with KW regarding Garland on ESPN 1000? Kenny said that Garland and his agent are intent on testing the free agent market after 2006 and that the Sox won't try to offer him any more contracts. Then the interviewer asked KW if the Sox will try to offer Garland a contract when he is officially a free agent and KW said, "I don't know if it will even get that far." Sounds like Garland is a goner.
  22. ESPN just did their sports update. Levine said that the Sox could offer a starter, Juan Uribe, and prospects for Tejada so I guess it could be Garland or McCarthy. That he did, and Jonathan Hood didn't help much either. Regardless, I titled the thread "Sox interested in Tejada!!!", not "Sox trade for Tejada!!!"
  23. I'm not lying. That's what was reported. I'm sure someone else heard it too.
