Indeed. I thought that the Borchard for Thornton trade would be a bad one just because I expected Thornton to suck. But Thornton is now a lot more important to our team (and bullpen) than Borchard would have been on our bench.

I would splooge all over myself if KW managed to swing a deal for Lidge. Ross.Effing.Gload (i.e. Mr. Waste Of A Roster Spot). He of 16 games played and 22 at bats. Mackowiak can play 1B if needed.

Garland gave up a leadoff double on his first pitch in that inning. He left an inherited runner in scoring position. That's baseball.

Ummm... in that case it would be the team's offense's fault for losing the games, not the pitcher's. Wins are a team stat, ERA is more of an individual stat.

Stopper my arse -- he gave up 5 earned runs in 6 innings. Name another starting pitcher who would have a 4-2 record with a 6.25 ERA. Garland is having a 2004 Shawn Estes season this year.

This is what I meant. His control will still be very shaky at times. But he's still one of our best relievers.
