Sox scouts on the lookout for young OF prospects
maki replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2009 -> 06:39 AM) but it would be REALLY nice if the D-Backs would give up on Justin Upton. despite the slow start they kept playing him and now have moved him up to the 5-hole, i'd say they're pleased with the production. granted the hitting streak won't last forever but i think he's done a bit to quell the fears and will be on a longer leash. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) So going back to all of the economy/attendance/payroll arguements we had over the winter, I actually went in and checked what our attendance #'s looked like this year so far, to the same point last year. Through 12 games this year we are averaging 24,608. Through the same point last year, we averaged 26,095. In other words there are about 10% less people at ballgames this year. Couple that reality with the big losses in sponsorships that Jerry has been talking about, and this franchise could have been in major trouble financially, if they hadn't have made the move to raise revenues and cuts costs somehow. It might not be the best thing for the team on the field, but the reality is that the Sox were either going to cut a little bit now, or a whole helluva a lot later. Watch and see the losses that Detroit is going to take this year, and the huge purge that is going to take place up there, and tell me if you would rather see that happen here, or the way that JR and the Sox have done things. The revenue picture you are trying to paint just isn't real. At best the Sox are probably even on ticket revenue (with the fall at the turnstiles getting balanced by the raise in ticket prices), and losing money on concessions, parking, and advertising versus last year. as per the attendance figures thread that includes a 0 for the first game of the DH, otherwise we would be tracking ahead thus far.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 01:00 PM) Mark Buehrle's numbers: 68 starts 28-21 record (.571 winning percentage) 39-29 team record in his starts (.574 winning percentage - which btw translates to a 93 win season if extrapolated) 1.29 WHIP 3.68 ERA I just love this guy more and more every year. I know it's a long shot, but given the fact he just turned 30 and he's got hopefully several more years of pitching ahead of him, a shot at 250 wins is not entirely unrealistic and may earn him HOF consideration. The reason why I wanted to start from 2007 is because I personally think his anomalous 2006 numbers were the result of fatigue from pitching almost 300 IP and almost into November during the 2005 season. Mark is a very good pitcher, but definitely doesn't look to be tracking for a HOF career. First he's already hinted at walking away earlier rather than later and there's no way he gets to 17/18 wins per year for the remainder of his career. if he only pitches 4-5 more years 200 would probably be a stretch. That being said he is fantastic and stands to have the number retired if he finishes up here.

QUOTE (north side chi sox fan @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 10:25 AM) On the city of Chicago website you can type in license plate and it said that the car got towed and gave address of towing company..... when I went to pick i up we found the car just parked on 40th and Union. There was no ticket and there is to no ticket on city of Chicago website. Just weird that they towed it no charge / no ticket. It was parked on 33rd right by the highway where they add the extra lane during ball game and nobody allowed to park there 2 hours before / 1 hour after. across from armour square in front of the tiny pizza place or across from the lot? who knows, maybe they're letting people off easy for a few games thinking its mostly bridgeport folks doing it. i wouldn't put it on 33rd again.

QUOTE (north side chi sox fan @ Apr 26, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) Has anybody ever got their car towed off 33rd street during Sox game? Happened to my girlfriend and when we went to pick it up... it was on 40th and Union park on the street. Will we get ticket in mail? There was nothing on the car.. if they're doing work on a street and had not posted signs warning of the work or another reason to have no parking then this has been known to happen, they'll move you as close as possible out of the way. doesn't happen too often. no idea why they would simply move you off 33rd during a game if you've got the proper stickers. how did you find it at 40th and union?

If Pods gets recalled, will Fields change his #?
maki replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So Josh, a member of the team from opening day, should give the guy the signed to a minor league deal, his number? this wasn't a free agent situation where you trade for the grizzled vet to make one last run, this is pods. josh can offer but pods should not expect or accept, he's now a guy without a team and signing a minor league deal, take the number you're given. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 09:10 AM) Anyone know what kind of velocity he had? i watched the YES feed on MLB Network and they never showed a gun. looked to be low-mid 70s.

Non-game Opening Day Questions/Observations. Answers needed!
maki replied to LVSoxFan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
i think everyone from jimbo's was now at redwood, it was crowded. -
also try craigslist, i bet its cheaper than any code, tonight's not exactly a high demand game.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 12:40 PM) ok, so i dont think I've seen an answer to my question. The new Out of Town board shows the lineups and current pitcher/batter stats. So, what happens to the board in left-center that used to house that data? there hasn't been a game yet so i'm not sure there's an answer. maybe they'll have it in 2 places for those of us who's view has been obstructed by fundamentals?

QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Jan 12, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) I pretty much got that response too. BS. just looking today I saw partial seasons 3-4 sections closer than you could get very early last year, and 4-5 rows closer on all for lower box. there's no way all the new seats came from the few sections all the way down the line, some of them had to come from closer to the bags or inside the bags for full season ticket holders. where did all those seats go?
-
anyone ever hear back from a rep about upgrading for this year? apparently our regular emails/calls didn't help as we never received one response. I see you can get actual seats on TM now, so I'm assuming my window to do anything better on seats has closed. Anyone have any success? I would imagine the rhetoric about 95% renewal may have changed in the last month or two.

word is he signed with Boston earlier today, announcement soon. here's the one source i found, another source on a Boston sports desk says the same thing. WashPost

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 10:18 AM) I'd prefer any savings from a Dye deal be used to help replace Vazquez's 200 innings. like homer bailey under control for cheap for many years?
-
so what do we think about the clubhouse sale/tag a seat next saturday? sox are telling people they can come down and view available season tickets and purchase them. are they not allowing present moves until after the 6th? so all potentially good upgrades might be snagged before we get a shot at them?
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 10:38 AM) I just talked with my rep yesterday about this (we ask every year to upgrade from 27 game plan to full season in our current location). Upgrades are expected to be done in December and/or January. According to our new rep (Natalie), renewals are already at 92%, and that's just from the postseason ticket buyers. That number will go up with some who didn't do postseason but still may renew. Then they go into new plan requests. So basically, upgrades will be hard to come by this offseason. But definitely contact your rep and see what you can do. I think that's about the same rate they gave us last year, as well. We made a decent move last year but I think the lack of communication from our rep cost us at least a section. Of course we've got a new rep again. We shall see.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 10:34 AM) Hound your rep. If upgrades are available, while they supposedly try to do it based on seniority, it really comes down to your rep. yeah, that's my problem. my rep wasn't on the ball at all last year. I think the weekly emails will start today, then move to every 3 days as we get towards mid-late december.
-
I apologize, I went back 10 pages or so and saw no topics on the issue. I see they're taking deposits now, anyone know when present ticket holders can discuss upgrades? Both to better sections in the same class or to a new price level? For 3 years I've been late to the party and I know it's cost me at least 4-5 rows or a section or 2.

QUOTE (Steff @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) They better have it roped off then. If a bathroom run takes more than a pitching change there will be problems. And that totally sucks for those with outfield tickets. only day i've seen roped off this year is friday cubs/sox i believe. they scrapped it after that. gonna be a mess out there. i imagine everyone will be behind the handicapped areas that aren't taken up by beer/dogs/margarita stands.
-
QUOTE (The Critic @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 12:46 PM) It better not be the concourse - that's reserved for people who don't want to sit in their seats. no loitering in the concourse for seat holders today!
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 01:35 PM) 1. We have a Ticket Exchange section of the board, that you should use for this purpose. 2. We are only allowed to sell on here for face value. If this is more than face, or will go above face on eBay, you can't sell them here. its face, i just threw it in this thread for the timeframe of the situation. all eyes are on the main board.

EDIT : Tix Gone, Sorry fans.

may be in the game thread, but how many times has back to back to back to back been done? i know its a tie.
