  1. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 08:26 AM) Corner of Lake and LaSalle...There's a big starbucks in the building in the thompson center?
  2. what law office is that? that's probably where i'm headed.
  3. streets are already blocked apparently. i guess the moral of the story is get there quick if you're wanna be at lasalle and wacker. we're probably gonna hit the parade and run up to his office and watch the rally out the window and listen on tv.
  4. apparently at the rally point they're a couple deep on the sidewalks. i don't know if they've blocked traffic, so they could just be waiting on the sidewalks to get a good spot. i'll get another update in about 15 minutes.
  5. friend works overlooking the rally spot, says its getting crowded already.
  6. QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 07:15 AM) blah blah blah. garner's a bum. i remember him whining and b****ing for the cameras when oswalt flat out beaned crede too. nobody likes a sore loser, garner! nobody likes a manager who will roll over either.
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) It's a $200 value. thought i saw somewhere its 79.99. my guess is that they might start giving these away to people who sign up for a year anyway, kinda like cell phones.
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 09:00 AM) I would have hoped they would have sold them at the box office to local fans and not via Ticketmaster where brokers all over the country could buy them and then attempt to rape Sox fans.. This has been a PR nightmare for the Sox. I don't think they would have done it intentionally. As a matter of fact.. from the email exchange with Brooks I posted here the other day.. I'm sure that isn't the case. Remember in 2000 you could buy them at the BO... this year no. The deal with TM went into effect in '03. i really think the fact that you can't do it at the box office is an offshoot of the expansion of getting tickets online. now that most do it online and by cc, they don't wanna do it in person w/ cash because of the hassle of dealing w/ refunds using cash. now you simply put the money back in the cc acct. i think this is part of the reasoning. certainly not all, but part.
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) I don't see it being subject to interpretation when it's been stated "Due to the policies and proceedures of MLB, WHICH CONTROL ALL ASPECTS OF POSTSEASON PLAY, the White Sox must strictly inforce the following...." But you're right. It's a stupid argument... until Soxfest what if under their control they took care of what they needed and decided to give control of the remaining tix to the sox?
  10. i think we a ll need to relax a little here. unless you're the one who controls the handling of the tickets the info you provide is subject to interpretation, on all sides.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) http://www.internetnews.com/ec-news/article.php/1566561 MLB.com Plays Ball with Ticketmaster Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM), which runs the MLB.com portal, has struck a multi-year distribution deal with online ticket-seller Ticketmaster (Quote, Chart). The deal makes Ticketmaster the site's preferred provider for all online ticketing services, including ticket sales, printing them at home, selling other tickets in online auctions and managing season ticket accounts. not 100% true. what about the lovely scrubs?
  12. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) I heard some people called ticketmaster like a half hour early asking questions about concerts and stuff basically stalling till 12:00 and then being the first to buy sox tickets. :finger DOH ....why didn't I think of that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! got through at 9:15 to check how long the automated process would take, then came back from breakfast and tried getting through starting at about 11:05. not a line in the country for 55minutes. was on the phone w/ TM Toronto just to give it a shot and couldn't even get through for another 40 minutes, at about 12:25.
  13. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 08:45 AM) Rock, I'll be there. For the last series, Duffy's had "Sox Parities" It was all you could drink for 15 bucks from 6-11, and the whole back room was sox fans. highly f***ing recommended! and that's a huge back room.
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 08:44 AM) What does it matter... I'm "dead wrong". :rolly i'm simply presenting an argument, not trying to make a dig here.
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) Dead wrong.. LMAO.. Ok Cleo. how do you not think that a team within driving distance that regularly makes the trip to wrigley in force will not bring fans to our stadium?
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 08:34 AM) And St Louis fans aren't going to pay the $$ either. have you seen a cubs/cards series? the money will be paid by some at the very least. if you don't think this will bring prices up you are dead wrong.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) Heres the thing- Brokers who buy all those tickets dont know anything about sox fans. They know about chicago fans, and their spending in the playoffs. This is mostly based on the demand and price paid in 2003 for cubs tickets. They dont realize that sox fans are not as stupid as cubs fans and feel that watching the game at home is better than dropping 1K on the worst seat in the house. They will come to an abrupt conclusion on friday when they arent selling their overpriced tickets. They will troll the parking lots looking for people who need extras. They will sell for less than half of what they were asking. Sox fans determine the market-not the brokers. cards make the series, throw all this out the window as you're adding probably 5k people looking for tix.
  18. also, if it turns out to be the cards you're not getting in that park for $300 until the 5th inning.
  19. you guys do realize that come friday we will have an opponent, right? i do imagine some cards and stros fans thought ahead and bought some tix, but not as many as those who are gonna still need them. if the cards make it these ticket prices are gonna go sky high, probably 1.5x what they are now. if its houston, prices might come down slightly.
  20. QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) Couple of questions.. Which section has the most seats (Bleachers, Upper Deck Box or Lower Deck Box)? If I'm already paying $140, is it worth paying $45 more for Lower Deck Box? put best available and get a seat, period!
  21. QUOTE(Iguana @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 09:14 AM) My family is from France...does that make me a spokesman for france? no, but if you're first generation removed and they're looking for french spokesmen it makes you marketable. that is if you were a pro athlete.
  22. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 08:05 AM) THE least absurd pricing I have found is with Gold Coast Tickets. I have used them many times for sporting and concert events. yep. anything w/ "coast" in it is a national company w/ regional and major city offices. they have great national pricing and added tickets for local games in the metro area. they'll offer the same tickets on their other sites for a premium.
  23. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) The rep hasn't called me yet. Is there a chance he/she doesn't and I get screwed out of WS tickets and not get refunded for the deposit? if this is what you're looking for, then you will get your deposit refunded.
  24. i haven't seen a mention of the snowball effect this should bring. i think the likelihood is that some fans take advantage of this deal along w/ a bunch of ticket brokers. now the ticket brokers are gonna have tickets they're gonna try and drive up for the regular season as well. all this bodes well for attendance, if you didn't already realize its gonna make significant gains for next year. and by the way, increased attendance begets sell-outs and more increased attendance. this, in turn, makes going to the cell more of an outing again for more people. 3 years from now we can be the same team we were 4 years ago and have 5-6k more people in the stands per game, just because of the people turned on by this. this is a great idea for the team, even if the scalpers and brokers capitalize.
