  1. Stoffel, Bailey, and Volz are guys I'd like to see us take if available.
  2. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:12 PM) This team is dead. And really even if we do go on a bit of a run in July or August and somehow win the AL Central by default, do we even have a prayer vs a Boston or New York in the playoffs? Lets see what we have with our kids. Let Beckham see MLB pitchers every day. Trade Dye and Dotel for some solid prospects. Bring up Jordan Danks, bring up Viciedo. Lets see what these kids can do vs MLB pitchers. . . HELL bring up Jared Mitchell in August. Would any of us be upset if our starting lineup was this in September: Jared Mitchell RF Alexie Ramirez SS Carlos Quentin LF Paul Konerko 1B AJ Pierzynski C Gordon Beckham 3B Dayan Viciedo DH/3B Chris Getz 2B Jordan Danks CF Without Pauly and AJ, thats our team of the future right there. In 2011 i could see Flowers as our new C, and Brandon Allen as our 1B. Lets face it guys we are on the verge of a youth movement. No need to be stubborn and continue to try to win on and get younger on the fly, i respect what KW was trying to do but it just isn't happening. The 2 guys i want us to keep during this transition are Buerhle and Jenks. However, if you could bring in a couple of top 100 type prospects to add more depth to our farm for Jenks, im all for it. Seriously!?!?
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:08 PM) did you miss some of the scouts saying Beckham should turn into one of the best hitters in baseball? In 3 years, I'll be shocked if Beckham doesn't put up numbers similar or better than Pedroia. He means getting a pile of prospects for one of our legit players via trade.
  4. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:07 PM) Man I hope so. I would love to get a boat load of high level prospects that have a good chance of panning out. Where is our Longoria or Utley or Pedroia or Hanley Ramirez? You sound like Flash a year or 2 ago. Where is our Liriano!?!?
  5. QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:55 PM) Ozzie said he wanted to face Granderson, because he knows Polanco is their most dangerous hitter. FWIW What? The names must be reversed there...
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:51 PM) I don't know. Danks just got the same major league ready label from Buddy Bell that Slayer did about a week before his call up. I think the organzation thinks they know what they've got with the kid. Buddy Bell can say what he wants, but major league pitching is a whole lot different than AA pitching. Danks still strikes out a bit too much to be MLB ready. He'd struggle mightily if he got called up. With that said, I expect him to be our starting CF on Opening Day next season.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:48 PM) I did think before my post. Have you met our offense? No, I haven't met them. I have seen them on TV and in person however.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:47 PM) Tomorrow is an automatic loss vs. Verlander, so chalk up another L. We are not hitting him. We've mashed him in the past. I really wish people would think before they post sometimes.
  9. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:46 PM) Then f*** it, call up Jordan Danks There is a difference between rebuilding and just being dumb and forcing guys who aren't ready to play. That would be the latter.
  10. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 31, 2009 -> 01:28 PM) Martin Havlat's recent Twitter post: "Meeting with Dale Tallon for dinner tonight, leaving to Prague tomorrow. FYI, I am NOT putting my condo up for sale (if you get my drift!)." Sounds like a deal should be consummated quickly. That's fantastic.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:25 PM) It is a f***ing huge game. The series is tied at a game apiece, and it is the difference between being 3.5 and 5.5 games out. Why would you diminish how important tonight is??? It's fathom....
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:23 PM) then your name is ozzie guillen... Please stop.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:22 PM) He lost yesterday also I'm aware.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:18 PM) 3 losses now in the last 23 days (if we lose tonight). His last loss was May 16th. May 19-June 1, he had 6 appearances, we won every single one of those. Then he pitched June 5th vs CLE, we lost 6-0. He's given up 4 earned runs ALL SEASON.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:15 PM) So you'd rather see Linebrink in this game than Jenks or Thornton? Linebrink has been a loss machine of late. As of when, yesterday? Or as of May 16th? Which was the last time the Sox lost a game he pitched in and he was credited with the loss. GMAFB.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:12 PM) Of course...WHERE THE f*** IS JENKS??????????? Stop pitching Linebrink in close games, he has nothing this season. Will you stop b****ing about EVERYTHING? Jeez. Linebrink has a sub-1 ERA this season at home.
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 09:32 PM) I seriously think with in a week or so, Gordon is really going to start hitting. That's 2 weeks if we continue to play him every other day.
  18. I like Beckham's approach at the plate. He seems to have really good strike zone judgment too. Just a smart player.
  19. How many Aaron Poredas/Matt Thorntons do we need in the organization?
