Well, thats probably the ballgame. The walk comes around to score. Shocker.
-
The White Sox offense makes it seem like hitting a baseball is one of the most difficult feats in all of sports. While frustrating, it's pretty amusing.
-
You CANNOT walk guys after being out in front 0-2.
-
Delmon Young K's swinging, 1 dead.
-
Take the "ense" out of offense and that's what we are.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:43 AM) 90 wins? We still have no team speed. We still have question marks in middle relief big time. Our veterans have not hit for some time now with the exception of Thome and Konerko LATE last season. Swisher and Cabrera are not excelling. I don't mean to be a doomsayer but the middle relief and the offense is quite questionable. I applaud the starting pitching and Bobby. We also can't win at home, or haven't yet. Our home record is a BIG concern to any team that wants to win 80 games, much less 90. We won 99 games in 2005 with a struggling offense and with a team carried by fantastic pitching. If I recall, they turned out ok. Our middle relief has big question marks? Wasserman is a ROOGY. You can't expect him to just come in an dominate for 2 innings. Logan, Dotel, Linebrink and Jenks (for the most part) have been fine. Masset has been best out of the LR/Spot Start role, and Thornton has pitched great of late as well. Our pitching is the last of our worries right now. If you don't think the 25 guys that make up the Sox right now can win 90 games, then I agree to disagree. Like I said, if we get pitching like this all year and the offense improves, we can win 90 games. I don't think it's a stretch at all. -
Swisher got 2 hits, AJ got 3, Thome went opposite field a couple times, Dotel and Logan continue looking good in the pen. I will not let this thread die.
-
Man, are people ready to jump ship or what. No positives? How about Dotel and Logan pitching well out of the pen? How about Thome showing some opposite field abilities? How about AJ going 3-4? You can't ALWAYS be negative about things. Yes, it was a terrible game with a terrible outcome, but it isn't the end of the world. Now, with that said, Greg Walker needs to go yesterday.

QUOTE (tommy @ May 8, 2008 -> 12:49 AM) They are maybe an 80 win team, Ozzie need to realize that. I don't understand how people can say this. If our hitters hit to their potential/norms, we'd be a 90+ win team easily provided the pitching also continues to be successful. About 2 months ago, people were saying that this team will win or die with Gavin Floyd, John Danks, and Jose Contreras. 2.50, 3.12, and 4.08 are their respective ERA's. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 7, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) If the pitch is middle in and off-speed, a good hitter will stay back on the ball and than explode on the ball and pull it. Now if it is on the outer half of the plate there is another approach. At least that is what I was always taught, but I was never that good of a hitter (luckily for most of my youth I was a damn good pitcher, pre injury of course). I guess the location of the pitch is important in this scenario. If it was inside, then Shelby is right, but if it was outside, well...

QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ May 7, 2008 -> 11:09 PM) When Belichick is asked about being a genius he politely demurrs that he coaches football for a living. Is he a football genius? Yeah, I'd say so. There's a book written by one of America's best historians about that. So, you dispute that he's a genius. Well, that's your opinion, and you should keep it. I don't know what to say to that. I already know how you feel about Belichick, and I have nothing to say about it. You keep Lovie Smith. Edit: I just mean we're all entitled to our opiniomns and I have no interest in convincing anyone that Belichick's X or Y or Z. I mean, that's up to you all to figure out for yourselves. The other point is that Walsh is bitter, creepy and has very little up his sleeve besides what we already knew. He just wants the attention. Are you saying I think Lovie Smith is a genius? -

What does Walsh's college golf career/blender blade incident have to do with anything in this thread? Belichick is a cheater and he isn't even close to a genius. -

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 7, 2008 -> 10:51 PM) Oddly, we brought Thome in in 2006 and he hit 42 Home Runs, and drove in over a 100 runs and hit .288. Oddly, Dye hit over .300 that year, so did Paulie. Greg Walker needs to be fired. The only pattern i see is on this message board. The 2nd half of 2006, all of 2007, 5 weeks into 2008... -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2008 -> 10:29 PM) Actually, Pierzynski was not a .300 hitter before coming to the Sox...he only hit .272 with the Giants hte year before he came to CHW. Give me a break, you know what I mean. He hit .300 in 3 of his last 4 seasons in MIN, then hit .272 in SF. -

You have to put blame on Walker after a while. Pierzynski was a 300 hitter before coming to the Sox. Thome was a prominent hitter (though age/injuries have slowed him down), Swisher has looked nothing like the one from OAK, Cabrera is hitting .200, Uribe just continues his decline.... -

QUOTE (JFields27 @ May 7, 2008 -> 10:13 PM) just read it. Thats good I hate the patriots anyways so that bat Buerhle was taking hacks with was Uribes? I wasnt paying complete attention but was he pissed or something? because really i think Mark was just trying to put some life into the bat since Juan cant Juan came back to the end of the bench, looked at the bat, looked back at Buehrle and laughed. Apparently, he was happy because he plans on using the wood to make burgers on the barbecue. -
