  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) Way to be proactive Ozzie. Everyone in the world knew that Soriano would be going. Jose Contreras and AJ Pierzynski are your battery. He's safe at 2nd even with a pitchout.
  2. Izturis and Fontenot with 2 great play on 2 hard hit balls. God damn.
  3. QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 02:08 PM) Contreras looks amazing out there. This is exactly the sort of lazy big game the Sox need. They can ride the wave from this win straight through TB and KC and then see what they can do to make this team better at the All Star break. I have a whole lot of faith in Ozzie and Kenny. I hope he throws a shutout...so we can trade him to the Dodgers, Padres, Mets, or Braves.
  4. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) Well to make things better, if Wheels Thome ran through the base. He is safe. He's such a nice guy though. I'm sure he didn't want to accidentally step on Lee or something.
  5. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:59 PM) Danny Richar just had a bases loaded triple for Charlotte. Call up Sweeney, Richar. Send down Gonzalez, DFA Cintron.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:56 PM) Two very nice ABs for Pods today. Not a chance in hell Podsednik will be back in 2008. Better? Andy Gonzalez is a terrible baseball player.
  7. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:49 PM) He still has to try and do the best that he can with the pile of s*** roster he's been given. This team struggles mightily to get on base -- you need to do everything you can to get them in when they do. So when we try a hit and run, and it's a strike-em-out, throw-em-out, then it's still Ozzie's fault. Come on now. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:50 PM) GMAFB. All I was saying is that I'd like to see Ozzie be more aggressive in those few situations where we actually can be. When someone like DJ is criticizing Ozzie about something, then you know things are bad. You know why I blame Ozzie....cause this team sucks, and he's shown no ability to do anything to get things jump started again. Like my thread from two weeks ago, this would be the perfect time for Ozzie to step up and get things going in the right direction again. This is a bad team. Face it. It's not Ozzie's fault that the hitters cant hit and the bullpen can't pitch.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:34 PM) Well, even DJ then mentioned that Ozzie hasn't been that aggressive this year, so are you going to tell him to get off of Ozzie's back? Maybe it's just me, but Gonzalez saw 5 pitches with Pods on base, and nothing was put on. Because DJ's word is the word of God now? Come on. You're trying to find any little reason to blame Ozzie for everything. You know it, everyone knows it. If we lose today, I find it hard to believe that we lost because we didn't try to steal or do a hit and run in the 1st inning. Jeez. "Terrero has just enough room." As he catches it half a step on to the warning track.
  9. Ah yes, the man who drafted Kris Honel (Heilman taken 2 picks later), Royce Ring (James Loney taken by LA with the next pick), Brian Anderson (Conor Jackson taken 4 picks later, Billingsley 9 picks later, Carlos Quentin 14 picks later), Tim Hummel, Mike Morse, Heath Phillips, Jeremy Reed, Josh Rupe, Chris Getz, Sean Tracey, Ryan Sweeney, Robert Valido, and Ricardo Nanita.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:28 PM) I just want to know why in the world is he hitting 2nd? When's the last time Ozzie tried a hit-and-run? Get off his back already.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) Sweeney's in the minor league lineup today, which makes me think there really is a lot of truth to the Jones trade rumor. I'm worried it might have been for MacDougal, as neither player has been seen this series. "Jacque, you're going to be staying here on the South Side for a little while."
  12. He was director of scouting in 2001-2003? Let's see who he's drafted...
  13. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:06 PM) Why the Cub announcers at the Cell for the 2nd time in this series? They did it so that people watching could choose which broadcasters. Both are there. Just like at Wrigley, Hawk and DJ were at the games. Soriano K.
  14. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 12:55 AM) 23 now, and finally going to college. I know, I'm a goof for waiting.. I have to take a test to see where I'm at so they know what level to start me at. So, as I said prior, I'm in big trouble. Those placement tests aren't very hard. If you have a general understanding of algebra, you should be fine. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 12:59 AM) I've gone thru calculus and beginners stats. No more math and I'll be happy. No Cal for me, but I took AP Stats. Pretty easy, outside of those damn formulas.
  15. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 12:56 AM) To be honest, I could care less of what we get in our trades of certain players. I think that if we traded people and freed up some salary for this off-season, we could go through a makeover of the whole ball club and with the new scouting director, a new makeup of the whole organization. Here's what I'd want to do: Release Bukvich, Terrero. Pull the plug on Thornton. Trade MacDougal, Contreras, and Dye. Keep Buehrle and Iguchi. Let Erstad go. Sign Rowand. Sign Scott Linebrink. Rotation then is: Buehrle, Garland, Vazquez, Danks, Floyd Bullpen is: Jenks, Aardsma, Linebrink, Masset, Billingsley/Broxton (via Dye trade), Logan, Vazquez Lineup is: Pods Rowand Thome Konerko Pierzynski Crede Iguchi Sweeney Uribe Bench: Hall, Ozuna, Mackowiak, Fields Not much better, but hey, it's the best I've thought of so far. Why keep Billingsley in the bullpen and let Floyd start? I'd do the opposite. And Fields should be the starting 3B for the White Sox for the rest of this season and on. People won't be much in favor of keeping Podsednik either.
  16. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 12:49 AM) Oh lord, I am f***ed. I figured you had to multiply the 8 x 2 but I couldn't figure out how the hell they got the one. Better than me at graphics and math... Why are you doing beginners algebra during the summer in the 1st place?
  17. Well, it's quite simple really. By ways of the Distributive property, 8(2x-1) would make it 16x-8, simply by taking the 8 and multiplying by both numbers in the parentheses. 8 x 2x = 16x 8 x 1 = 8 A gives you an equation of 16x - 8 = 8x, which boils down to 2x - 8. B gives you 16x - 8x, which is simply 8x. C gives you the answer in the question, 16x - 8. D gives you 16x - 64.
  18. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 11:56 PM) Just my opinion, but I feel pretty sure that 2 compensatory picks will beat out whatever KW has been offered for Dye this season. We'll probably never know for sure.
  19. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 11:49 PM) Yeah, I'm sure the Dodgers were all set to trade Billingsley for Dye if KW had just signed off. Dye has had OBP under .300 the whole season and has been creating triples for the opposing team in RF. Everyone in baseball can see it. In the case of Dye, it's better to wait and try to get the compensatory draft picks. Dye's trade value has been on a downward spiral since the start of the season, the last time KW had a good chance to deal Dye for value was the offseason and if that had happened, most Sox fans would have thought he went crazy. I'm sure we have been offered a few different packages, and I'm sure Kenny is thinking he shot himself in the foot now that JD is on the DL.
  20. Kind of hard to judge when we don't know what we'd be getting in return for Dye, Contreras, and Mackowiak.
  21. Any news on Griffith? I'd love to get him signed and playing soon.
