  1. Recently upgraded: Black 30 BG iPod Yay me!
  2. Just heard on CBS that the Sox have been talking to the Yankees about sending them a starting pitcher and receiving bullpen help in return.
  3. Vote Gregory Pratt. Why? Well...3 reasons. 1.) He paints his face and travels at night. 2.) He has more facial hair than you. 3.) If you don't vote for him, this awaits you...
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) On a side note, we hang out deer by cutting small slits in the hind legs and using a thing that looks like a coat hanger with hooks on either end to hold the deer up. Looks less like you're hanging the thing and more like laundry. We have that too and when we gutted it, thats what we used. You can't tell from the pictures but there are slits in the leg tendons. But these pictures were from right before we were going to skin it and process the meat. The antlers are going to be mounted too.
  5. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 08:14 PM) no, but i lost feeling in my right foot and didn't regain it til over 2 hrs after i got off of stand What did you have on your feet?
  6. I'll have some pics of my dad's deer soon. Any luck out there Heads?
  7. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 07:55 AM) Ask her if she likes rap music That was awesome.
  8. Couldn't find the old Book thread so I figured I'd start a new one. I was browsing through Borders today and saw The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I've heard much about it so I decided to pick it up. That, along with Angels & Demons is on my current reading list.
  9. QUOTE(shoota @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) Yes, which is why I'm uncomfortable with his lack of quality, agressive deals this offseason (so far). Boy, you'd be a great Cubs fan. EDIT: Wait, that's an oxymoron.
  10. Thank you GP and NSS72 for your answers. PA...eff off.
  11. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) I like it when moderators take potshots. So classy. And then, if you reply, they sit on their thrones and shoot at you. Is it called for to insult me because of my age? No. It's not, but whatever, man, you can call me out all you want. It's not like I have any authority to do anything about it. Not like I did anything to provoke such a rude response. All I did was answer a question asked you with MY thoughts on the matter. PA does it all the time, too in these political threads -- reply to questions posed to others. I imagine that you don't give him such a snarky response. Hell, SF1 is a Senior in HS, too, and I'm sure there're plenty of other posters. I hope this causes you the youthful demographic. It's not that big of a deal. Candidates are supposed to take shots at eachother.
  12. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) Well, nice to see that GP answered for me. GP, are you even old enough to own a gun yet? SoxFan1 - I'll lay it out for you. Here are my views on these subjects: --Restrictions on types of guns, magazine sizes, pistols specifically, etc. are worthless. They've been proven again and again to do zero to reduce crime (who expects criminals to follow such restrictions?), and they violate the spirit of the 2nd Amendment. Its akin to telling someone they can buy a Ford Taurus, but not a Mustang. They are both deadly weapons. --The way certain licenses, like acquisition of concealed carry permits, are acquired, is piecemeal and non-sensical. Various counties and their sheriffs get to choose how strict or loose they are, so you have no uniformity. It should be really easy - if you aren't a violent felon, aren't on any sort of probation or restriction, and you pass a safety course... you should get the same access to the same guns as anyone else. --Registration of weapons is a mistake - it takes away the originally intended teeth of the 2nd amendment. --I DO agree with brief waiting periods, and background checks should be done always. Those restrictions are common sense, and don't violate the base principles of the freedom. On hunting... --I am no expert on hunting laws. Let's just lay that out there. --I have shot many different types of weapons, in both a professional and personal capacity - but I have never shot at anyone or anything that was alive. And, as a matter of personal choice, I hope it stays that way. --That said, I happen to own some open/wooded land in Wisconsin, and I more than happily allow hunters to use it in the fall for deer. I just ask that they clean up their trash, watch their backgrounds, and follow existing laws. --I think that hunting laws should match the needs of people, and also healthy populations of animals. Unless a species is endangered, then hunting it should generally be allowed. Bag limits should be dictated by the population levels and ecological health. I hope that make sense for you. You won't hear me fill your ears with a load of crap. You may not agree with all the above, but I think you'll find my stances to be pretty close to what you'd consider logical. Thank you for your detailed response. I will take it into consideration come voting time.
  13. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) Hunt them? You, my friend, have got my vote!
  14. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 07:05 PM) You know MY views. I decry the pansyfication of society and am a stern believer in hunting and the second amendment. Then I guess my follow-up question can be directed to the both of you... What would you do to help preserve the sport of hunting and reduce the Anti-2nd amendment/anti-hunting groups such as PETA?
  15. I have a question for you Mr. NorthSideSox72... What are your views on hunting and gun rights?
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 11:07 AM) Season doesn't open til tomorrow morning. Hunting on land next to a state park also means you don't need a watch to see when its OK to shoot, cause it sounds like a firing range. Gotcha. Good luck tommorrow.
  17. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 10:52 AM) There's not a cloud in the sky here. No snow, either, but, hey, I've tracked without it before. Forecast: Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 17. West wind between 7 and 13 mph. Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 31. West wind between 10 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 7. Sunday: Scattered flurries. Partly cloudy, with a high near 20. Sunday Night: Scattered flurries. Partly cloudy, with a low around 11. Any luck this morning if you went out? EDIT: My dad harvested a nice 7 point buck yesterday in the Illinois Shotgun season.
  18. Happy birthday Greasy. Hope you have a great one!
  19. It must be really wet and heavy snow because it's coming down hard here on the southeast side but there's only about 2 inches on the ground.
  20. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 09:21 AM) Too bad, I never had to drag my ass out of bed for opening day. Now the day after harvesting my first one for the season, well that was a difficult drag through bleary eyes. Soxfan nice sig Remember, I'm the only hunter running. Do you want to trust these other guys with access for hunters on public lands? :Looks left and righ uneasily: Hmm... Otherwise, if Heads was in the stand this morning, I'd bet the deer were moving with this snow storm in the midwest.
  21. Currently a mix of rain/snow on the southeast side.
  22. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) 80 and humid >>>>>>> 30 and snow BOOOOO!
  23. I'm also a winter person. There is nothing I enjoy more that a foot of snow on the ground and weather in the 10's. And it has nothing to do with snow days. Hell, I love it so much I plan to settle my family in Alaska or the U.P. of Michigan one day.
  24. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 29, 2006 -> 10:33 AM) Two days til I drag my ass out of bed at 4 AM and sit in a tree. Good luck. Don't miss a 9 pointer now.
