Vatican welcomes Anglicans into Catholic Church
FlaSoxxJim replied to FlaSoxxJim's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 08:21 AM) Tex, i just dont know where you are going and where you are coming from sometimes. I get where he's coming from, and yes the easy slams at the catholic church over sex abuse cases can become tedious (Not that they aren't warranted when they shine a light on the church turning a blind eye to known pedophile clergy, as pointed out in another post above). But all of hat is a distraction to the thread topic. -
Vatican welcomes Anglicans into Catholic Church

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 01:07 AM) This has everything to do with the issue of gay clergy. Absolutely. The Roman Catholic Church is willing to be radically inclusive toward Anglicans as long as they are of like-minded intolerance regarding openly gay clergy. Beyond that, though, the logistics of what is apparently being proposed by the Vatican seem like they would be quite a challenge. -
Song of the South as an official domestic release you say?!? Details please. I've had a bootleg VHS version for 15 years that I believe was dubbed to NTSC from the 1986 UK PAL release.

QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 09:02 PM) I don't think I've had enough sours to really pick out a lot of those flavors. But I have a lot more fruit than expected. It's unfortunate that it's so expensive because I doubt I'll have it again, but I know a lot of talent goes into a beer like this. Don't sell your critical tasting skills short, I agree with most of your description on this one for sure. And certainly price has been a factor in not picking up another one of these for me as well. I just cracked big bottle of Cigar City's Oatmeal Rye India-Style Brown Ale that is superb. A dense brown meringue head with tons of staying power gives evidence to the oats in the grain bill, as does the rich, thick mouthfeel. Dark, caramel-copper brown color and an appearance that has just a bit of cloudiness to it that may either be yeast or chill haze but doesn't bother me in the least. Nose is rich, chocolate-malt with a hint of spice. Rich caramel maltiness, with coffee and chocolate notes on the bottom, topped off by some dried fruit flavors (mostly cherry and apricot) in the upper sweet flavor range. Slight spicy complexity from the rye follows with a pleasant graininess from malt and rye, and very subdued hop presence. This beer is something close to what you'd get if an American brown ale married a dark doppelbock but then they found out they both had recessive porter genes, and then they had an offspring beer that deftly combined the best attributes of all those styles. This is a good one.

Oddly enough, public domain has actually been the recipient of a small number of Disney reels.

I'm glad you liked the Stingo once you opened it, and I figured you would. Going back ti my very first post in this thread, I wrapped my Stingo tasting this way: Unfortunately, I have not shelled out for another one of these since that fist tasting, but now I want to. It sounds like you got a lot less of the vinuous tartness than I did, but you did note a healthy citric flavor. I think maybe I jsut wasn't anticipating just how Belgian in character this one was going to be, but it sounds like we both put this one firmly in the "yes" column.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 03:36 PM) Dune was kind of a crappy movie. Eno's incidental music was good, and Sting was a good Feyd Rautha, and Brad Dourif was an excellent mentant Piter De Vries, but yeah, all-in-all, Lynch's version doesn't do Frank Herbert's phenomenal book justice

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 19, 2009 -> 05:54 PM) No, finding oil supplies offshore did that. And very sadly, my institute is losing its flagship research vessel to Brazil to do contract environmental monitoring work for the marine petroleum exploration industry.
