  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 10:23 AM) Bouncing around the thought of giving you an intervention Jim. Can't wait, many thanks Sqwert! er. . . , that does mean picking up my bar tab, right?
  5. My Mother and Brother both went for these deals multiple times, and they ended up stuck wit with some cr@p auto selections for sure before they canceled. I never joined for the reason already stated, they didn't offer enough long-term selection of albums I would have wanted to buy. Bought tons of vinyl in my youth though, from approximately 6th grade through college as CDs finally took sway. Probably averaged a new record purchase every 1-2 weeks during that span. Now If I buy a handful of new music a year it's a lot. My first music purchase was a teevee ad deal though, and I remember it vividly. Three Dog Friggin' Night's Greatest Hits. . . on 8-Track! Worst consumer audio medium ever, and I'm including foil and wax cylinders among the field in that determination.
  6. I'm quick to dismiss the majority of Bacardi products, and most of them really are pretty awful. But their 8 year Ron Reserva Superior is really very good. I've had a taste for cocktails showcasing good Puerto Rican rums the last two weeks or so, and the Bacardi 8 is putting its best legs forward in everything I use it in. Anybody here that is in the rut of using Bacardi Gold as the only gold rum in your bar, spend a few extra bucks next time around and get a bottle of the 8 year and you'll have a hard time going back to the big jug of Gold.
  7. YELLOW SHARK, made thusly by me this evening and being conumed at this very moment: 1 oz honey 1 oz lime juice 1 oz pineapple juice 1 oz 2:1 simple syrup 1 oz Cruzan light rum 1 oz Bacardi 8 year 1 oz Goslings 151 (as a replacement for Lemon Hart 151) Blend Donn Beach style (no more than 5 seconds) with 8 oz crushed ice. Serve adding ice to fill glass. This drink will kick your a$$ and you will bend over and tell it, "Thank You Sir, May I Have Another?!"
  8. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 09:05 PM) The cross didn't become the symbol of Christianity until the religion itself started to get militarized. The fish is the original symbol of Christianity IIRC. Dude, that was a long time ago. . . how old are you?
  9. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 11:30 PM) http://www.examiner.com/x-12837-US-Headlin...-murder-suicide Scott Hain worked as a parole officer and was a former prison guard at the State Correctional Institute in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. Sp he was empowered by the state to be carrying a gun and would have been able to shoot her, regardless of his wife's gun-toting, had he disired to do so. Which, apparently, he did. Should we ban cops and other law enforcement types from bringing their guns home, since having a gun in the house is so bad? I'm not at all sure what point you are trying to make. I asserted that easy access to firearms at a time a when a person is emotionally distraught is a potentially lethal mix, as it most certainly was in this unfortunate case. In this particular house in Gunville USA, we know that at least three firearms were easily accessible — her 9 mm, his 9 mm, and his shotgun. Only two of these guns were involved in the incident and the soccer mom piece was not one of them, and I didn't assume it was when the story broke. I did suggest that Gun Mommy probably had a like-minded Gun Daddy at home, and obviously she did. As far as banning law enforcement types from bringing their guns home — I actually think that would be an idea worth exploring. But that has nothing to do with whether I agree or not with someone's constitutional right to make their home into a fatal accident waiting to happen. It would be more along the lines of not abusing the rights and privileges of one's position as well as not complicating the legal process by having sanctioned law enforcement firearms involved in off- duty altercations including domestic shootings, pesky accidental dead kids, and home invasions. If the cop or sheriff or prison guard wants to be armed at home, the constitution guarantees that right and he/she can load up on privately owned and registered firearms. I've intentionally not gotten into the conversation of armed off-duty officers away from the home because it was not part of the hypothetical scenario you laid out. And I've merely said that banning official-use arms in the homes of off-duty officials is worth exploring and why, not that I'm looking for a law to be passed tomorrow.
