Very narrow-minded of me I guess, but if I ever meet any of you in person I'd very much like you to be wearing pants.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 12:23 PM) I was flipping back and forth between football and Emmys last night. Isn't this "30 Rock" stuff kind of overrated? I mean would you put it in the same category of other great shows in the past? I've only seen a few episodes and it hasn't exactly blown me away. I think it's got excellent writing, best Big 3 sitcom writing in years.

Nice weekend here as well, craptacular White Sox baseball notwithstanding. Out on the water two days in a row is a n ice rarity these days, even if it is work-related.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 04:54 PM) There's no part of me that regrets seeing the happening. That was by far the worst movie i've ever seen. And because of that, was way better than most. I actually get that pretzel logic. I'm much the same way with films — at least in certain genres.

Roxette and Milk and Alcohol are the only two songs I think I've ever heard of theirs. Milk and Alcohol was co-written by Nick Lowe who is a genius-and-a-half.

Possibly questionable advice there, Dr. Feelgood, as that particular a tetracyclic antidepressant was never fully developed for clinical use.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 10:45 AM) A lot of people seem to agree, then. The movie was revolutionary for its time, but it's pretty boring to many people now. Most modern Americans say the same thing about Shakespeare, which says a lot more about modern Americans than Shakespeare's worth.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 10:17 AM) I'm the same way. I'm sure Citizen Kane is a really well made movie and has lots of deep meaning, but give me Dawn of the Dead any day of the week. You can dabble in both the high-brow and low-brow of cinema fandom. I certainly do.

QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 09:33 AM) I pretty much rate Citizen Kane right alongside 2001: A Space Odyssey. Both films bore me to tears and I have no desire to see either one ever again. But with that being said, keep in mind that I own numerous copies of every Godzilla made, plus most of the Japanese Kaiju films. I have no use for "artsy" b.s., and never had much tolerance for it. Yeah, I love 2001 as well. But I'm also slowly amassing Godzilla DVDs as well. I only have around a 15 of them so far. I have all the Millenniums, most of the Heisei, and sadly very few of the Showas I grew up on. I have a couple of those box sets on my Christmas wish list though.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 09:15 AM) Can someone post the slow clap GIF for me? I've got nothing. I'm unsure if you are being a post-modern/reflexive film hipster with that post, but I sure hope so. Kane has one of the earliest and most famous slow-claps in it. . . Great scene.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 07:40 AM) That post took me like 5 more minutes to write then it should of. I had to be very deliberate, because i could spell worth a damn. Well, more than i normally can't. Should I be concerned that I got drunk last night, got back to my place, and almost immediately went to post this on Sox Talk? Do I have a problem? No, you don't have a problem. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 07:40 AM) That post took me like 5 more minutes to write then it should have.
