There's a game called Crack the Case that is the store bought version ofr the "Questions" game that has cropped up here before. You know, 'A dead man is found naked, in the middle of the desert, with no footprionts leading to or away from the body. . . in his hand he is holding a piece of straw. What happened?' That's always fun. Balderdash is great, Pictionary, any of the Cranium games. Song Burst is another fun one, where you are given a few lines of a song and you have to sing the next line no matter how good or bad a singer you are. Of course, I think the games a bunch of swingers like you and your friends should be the classics – "Pass Out" or "Sip and Go Naked".

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 12:30 PM) I was just more curious as to what you thought of the "rocket fuel in a bottle". Not trying to beat ya up or anything. No, I deserve the beatdown, for I suck the suck of ages.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 12:07 PM) Did ya ever drink that Beast? No, it has been laid down. And yeah, I know I suck. I have stash for you, your addy, and all that. Yet still I suck. May I be forced to drink Bud Light for a year.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 11:59 AM) And even more odd that a Flaxx would allow so many spelling errors in his post. You feeling O.K.??? I kant tipe for krap. Maybe the Dogfish Head 90s from last night are still messing with my fingers.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 11:53 AM) i'm also neither irish nor catholic, which makes me wonder how the heck i ended up in beverly. How do you think Louis Farrakhan felt? I grew up 2 blocks away from Sutherland and took a year of Early Enrollment high school Latin at Morgan Park when I was in 8th grade. I did that mostly to get out of morning theology class at Barnabas, so I guess my path toward lapsed Catholocism was sealed early on.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 11:28 AM) I really don't know where to ask this question, so I'll do it here. Does anyone know how to use invisible font on AIM? I've tried making the color of the words and the background white, but it just comes out grey. Sure I know how to use the invisible font. The details are provided below: Did you get all that?

Wow. Illness conveniently forces here to stop performing in public, and eventually here entire recoreded catalog is going to be uncovered as being stolen recordings of othefr musicians.

USA! USA!! USA!!! http://www.worldbeardchampionships.com/ I waited so long to get tickets, I hope it's not already sold out.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 11:23 AM) i haven't been there for years but i used to attend every year. growing up in beverly it was a short walk. i'm in! Ah, but were you a Catholic or were you a "public"? We Beverly Catholics never much cared for those publics growing up. And we St. Barnabas Beverly Catholics didn't much care for those Christ the Kingers either. And don't even get me started on those jerks from Cajetan or Fisher. . . I Kid Because I Care®

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 08:18 AM) Today it is more like unleashing the knuckler and hoping it catches a breeze to help it to the plate. Hey Now! My implication was that Ms. Sarandon is past her "best if enjoyed by" date, not this Fella. I, of course, am timeless, ageless, and always ready for action. I'll have you know when I picked out my handle a few years ago, I nearly went with FlaSoxxJesseOrosco. . .

Sadly, I'll be 1,200 miles away on the grand day. But after the parade go crash the party on 101st and Bell with all the loud drunk Micks. The Head Drunk Mick will be my kid Bro and that will be his bash. Friends and Family and Random Guests usually come to blows at the Brother Joseph's parties, but the upside is that you'll have the bruises to prove what a good time you had.

I have a friend who has had one for a couple years and swears by it. Personally, I fear that if I got one, it would be the one unit in the bunch that achieved sentience and revolted to kill me in my sleep.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 11:56 PM) thought so what, that you are being a little prick nitpicky by harping on my lame attempt at humor instead of the real life humor in a peace-loving Democrat starting a fight with someone they didn't know and tracked down from a website over their political beliefs? Yeah, that must be it. Sometimes the green you think is overkill is the most important green of all. And for the record. I recognized your lame humor a mile away. (I think that was a complement. . . )

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 12:15 AM) Oh, and banging Susan Sarandon. Back in the day. . . Mmmm, you betcha I would have brung the Heater and announced my presence with Authoritaay.

Gary Oldman was also Drexl, the badazz albino pimp thug-guy in True Romance. And Rickman was good as a bald bigheaded alien actor in Galaxy Quest and as an angel in Dogma, among other things.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 01:57 PM) Yeah, step #1 is to hook it up to the laptop...and mine is not reading that the device has been hooked up. How do I reset it?? Follow the instruction manual that came with the unit. They differ a little from the couple-generation olde one I still have, but with my older fireware model it basically it involves plugging it into the wall charger and turninhg it on and holding down a button until it reset. Mine did exactly what yours is doing now, about two weeks into owning it. I followed the reset instructions and have not had the issiue reappear in almost three years.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 10:05 AM) I think any time you politicize "death counts", it's disgusting. I also think my point has been very clear. Your point is quite clear, yes. It's just not fully substantiated by the figures you provided. Of the 1.35 million members of the US military that have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan (sorry, couldn't quickly find just Iraq), 380,000 of these have been National Guard and Reserve members. That's nearly 30% of US fighting forces not accounted for in the tables you posted. That also translates to a lot of Iraq military casualties not included in those numberss. And the point Tex is trying to raise remains. Qe're STILL suffering the same lavel of non-combat military casualties now as in the 90s regardless of the ongoing conflict. The meaningful comparison would be to exclued ALL of those deaths from both timeframes and then stare at the cold reality of the cost of war in terms of American lives. Of course, such a comparison would not suit the purposes of those trying to downplay the US military body count in Iraq. [And before you jump down my throat, Kap, I'm not lumping you into that group]. As an aside, I'm somewhat struck by the logical conundrrum you present when you bemoan the politicization of death while at the same time pointing out that the MSM has in the past failed to make a big deal about the sizable number of peacetime military deaths. Obviouslythe solution for you would not be to have the MSM report these because you would likely see that as inherently politicized.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 09:49 AM) The French don't seem to think that 3000 dead people is very many... At least Jeran-Marie Le Pen doesn't. He makes one cogent point, though: 3,000 dead, that is how many die in Iraq in a month.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) I don't think anybody gives a crap if Anthony plays bass, they just want his girly backing vocals on the stuff. They also want to see him down a couple of fifths of Jack Daniels onstage during the show. And of course, the masses are also clamoring for one of those trademark suspended-over-the-audience kickass Michael Anthony bass solos.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) There were more "peacetime deaths" in the mid-1990's then Iraq "combat deaths" war to date. I'll see if I can find the document, I heard a short snippet this morning on my traffic station, but I don't remember the source. http://siadapp.dior.whs.mil/personnel/CASU...eath_Rates1.pdf Edited for link. Is this somewhat skewed? Absolutely. But it's interesting nonetheless. Yes, it is skewed in a number of ways to force a point of view that is doesn't stand up under scrutiny. First, there isn't a single year in the mid-1990s where total military deaths from all causes was more than in either 2003 or 2004. 1990 and 1991 rival the 2003-2004 totals, but that is another matter. Second, like you said, the stated statistic is slanted in such a way that it compares ALL peacetime military deaths from the mid-1990s to just the Iraq War deaths in te present conflict. The truth of course is that now as well as then there are more military deaths due to accident than to combat so that background value is swamping the system. Finally, if you take into accout the fineprint in that table, that the data "excludes full time Guard and Reserve," so that is a substantial number of Iraq War casualties not taken into consideration. Also – and I'm not suggesting intentional sleight of hand on your part – your first statement suggested more peacetime deaths in the mid-1990s than total deaths in Iraq in teh current conflict (i.e., the accidental deaths in Iraq would still be counted in the total tally), but your follow-on refined teh comparison to only considering Iraq "combat deaths" but not the accidents. In the latter scenario, again, the number of accidental military deaths regardless of time and place swamp the systm and render the comparison meaningless, other than pointing out that even in peacetime the military represents a hazardous career choice.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 06:20 PM) I'd like to see those stats. when and where were the mid 90s deaths? I'm highly dubious as well. What battles cost us 3,000+ combat troops in the mid 1990s??
