Nothing that ever causes your team to forfeit a game should be considered "fun." I do recall that me and every other 12-year old male in Chicago thought that WLUP spokesmodel who co-hosted the event with Dhal was about the hotest thing going. How nuts would we all go now if something happened at the statium and we had to forfeit a game because of it?

I'm sure that will get a LOT of people joining in on that chant. Grandstand is absolutely the place for you to check out. That's where my folks got Esteban to sign an authentic #21 jersey that they gave me for Christmas and is now a prized possession. Are you in for any of the games next week? I fly in on Tuesday.

Yessirree, 8 straight. I'd like to see the Sox string together a nice run like that right about now.

Not necessarily. When that film came out it made several lists as THE WORST film of all time, so even if you didn't know anything about the film, you could recall ot from one of those lists. I never saw it or Michael Camino's 'Heaven's Gate,' specifically because they were billed as among the worst films ever. I should have listened to what people were similarly saying about Ishtarr, because that's 3 hours of my life I'll never get back.

I liked it, liked Depp and Pacino, but I guess I expected more from the movie. Also, a friend of mine had a bit part in it (a line and everything), but her scene got left on the cutting room floor, so I hold a grudge on her behalf.

I mostly fixated on the actress (Kiera Knightly, right?) A tall, tall drink of water, that one...

I thought he was great in Crybaby, but I'm a bigger John Waters fan than a lot of people. I thought he was also very good in What's Eating Gilbert Grape (the Leo retard film you alluded to), Benny and Joon (convinced me he would have been a better Chaplan than Robert Downy Jr.), all of the Tim Burton things he's been in (Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow) even if the films themselves falter here and there, Fear and Loathing..., he did passably well in Pirates of the Caribbean... I really wanted to dislike him when he started doing film – he was the annoying pretty boy from @%&*%$! 21 Jump Street for crying out loud. But it turns out he's actually pretty good.

Yeah, the one with the 6-fingered pregnant-with-meaning hand print. And it's 'Nearly Human.' The Want of a Nail, Hawking (dedicated to Stephen), Parallel Lines, Waiting Game, and Unloved Children are all great. Can't Stop Runnning was written for the tthen upcoming Summer Olympic starting ceremonies, but it got nixed in favor of something more "accessable" like friggin' John Tesh. He wanted all the songs to sound fresh and not overly rehearsed, so he taught the band each song, ran through it a couple of times, and then immediately recorded it. The result is a very spontaneous sound, but with a surprising degree of polish, given the complexity of some of the songs. Definitely did it out and give it a spin (er, spool) if you haven't heard it in a while. Todd's current wife is one of the backing vocalists on the album, and I can understand him falling in love with her because I pretty much did too when I saw them on that tour in Indianapolis.

Astral Weeks is easily in the top 25 albums of the Rock era. Murmer, Chronic Town, Reckonings, Fables... Now that's REM. And don't sell all the 80s Todd stuff short. Output was inconsistent but always creative and self-reinventing. He was doing a lot of different things at the time, including fronting Utopia, programming software, running a video production company, producing Cheap Trick, the Tubes, xtc and others, writing a Broadway musical, and generally continuing to be very much an iconoclast. For my money, the best 80s Todd was 1989s Nearly Human. He got back to his Philly soul roots, and maybe the outros to the songs are a little too long while he shows off his freestyle his vocal chops. But he's fronting an 11-piece band on it, he was in great voice for the sessions, and the compositions are among his best ever. You can probably find it in the $5.99 bin, but that's just because American music consumers SUCK ASS.

Point taken that charting songs and selling albums does not a great band make. And a pox on me for not including Naked Raygun in my initial list. I was way into them in high school and college.

It's funny how you guys suck!

"I love how you traded away your best player." You must mean olf Wifebeating Corky Mc'Roid Boy? Yawn. "Enjoy last place losers." I don't get up to the North Side very much, but you enjoy it for us. "You can't even beat a crappy team like the Marlins." NLCS Game 6 OCT. 14 MARLINS 8, CUBS 3 CHICAGO -- They were down to their final five outs. Five more outs and their season would be over. Five more outs and they would go home, kick back for the winter, and daydream about the glorious summer that was. And then, as a stunned Wrigley Field crowd of 39,577 sat in dumbfounded silence, it happened. The Marlins found their magic. They whipped out their wand in the waning, desperate moments Tuesday and produced one of their most dramatic victories in a summer full of them. Ah, memories... "Cubs will rule you idiots." I've been saying Cub fans are idiots for years.... we agree on something "Cubs always rule the Sox and they always have..." Forgetting your own postseason meltdown should have clued me in - you heva no long-term memory of any sort do you? Oh, one more thing... :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs -
Yeah, I'll take Ziggy and Diamond Dogs over Blue Jean and Let's Dance any day as well. Just making sure you weren't forgetting the Godfather of Glam. Another eye-raising omission is Todd Rundgren circa 'A Wizard, A True Star' and 'Todd' (back when his hair was purple too). he produced the NY Dolls too, though, so at least Todd's spirit is in your influence list.

No Bowie in there?? And you call yourself a Glam Rocker. For shame... :headshake

See, that's just stupid. I mean you can hire most of the original bands for like, $75 now so what's the point?

If I could have the weeks of my life back that I spent playing Astroblast, Baseball, Auto racing, Combat on that thinh as a kid... What was up with those stupid flat-disk thumbkilling controllers though?

They supposedly had thousands of people searching house to house, unsuccessfully.

Really tragic, and we and the Saudi's were powerless to do anything. What his family has had to go through since the ultimatum, and what they are going through now is hard to fathom. The climate in the region has obviously deteriorated as has tolerance of a Western presence, and that is very much America's fault. But for the immediate moment that's beside the point. I think a non-negotion policy here is the right thing, even in light of something so incomprehensible as this. My thoughts are with the family, and I feel like I've been kicked in the stomach. I hope Americans working in Saudi - especially parents with families back home - look at this and say screw the money I'm leaving, It's not worth the current risk.

That should be the National Balogna Association's new marketing slogan. It will kind of be a peer pressure thing to make people eat it Either that slogan or "Take all the parts you'd never eat by themselves, bones and blood and yummy snouts too, grind them up together, call it balogna, and what the hell, somebody might buy it." Not as catchy, I know.

s***tiest meAt ever, btw. [and I concur]

I'm just the messenger. I could have represented Beastly's quote as "meet [sic]" I guess, but I thought the quotes and the quoted passage were enough to indicate an intentional propagation of error."

We'll have to agree to dis on Pumpkins. Cub Fan and all, I think Corgan saved the local music scene from a slow musical death at the hands of either Goth-Rock or stagnating hip-hop. The line-up was more solid prior to Jim Chamberlaign (sp?) getting axed, but he probably would have OD'd head they not cut him loose. It's sad to think the local music scene as that bad off, and hopefully it's not as bad as all that. No Funkhouse or Otters at al. still playing around?

Right there is a case study in why English is such a hard second language to learn. "Bologna is the s***tiest lunch meet ever." = a bad thing "Turkey is the s***" = a good thing?!? By extension, consumption of anything that "gives me the s***s" would be good, right? The English language begs for mercy.

Ah, the Disney Dwarf that didn't make the cut - along with Bitey, Farty, and Mocko.

Yes it was the 5th Dimension, my bad. Weird - that song sounds soooo.... white? "Never My Love" was the other Association song that charted but i couldn't recall it.
