  1. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 08:46 AM) I had a ton of car trouble this weekend, so I didnt make it to Cincy, but let me tell you .................. KUDOS to SOX fans - ever hit you could HEAR LOUDLY the fans. Every time the cameras followed a foul ball, the camera "accidentally" would catch SOX fans in every camera shot. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - to WGN & partner-in-crime COMCAST, they about did as much as they could to NOT show the huge numbers of SOX Fans in the park, the area, the town. Despite their efforts to NOT gratuitiously show SOX fans on camera, I saw at least 4 of you guys down there!! heh hehe, pretty funny You have to be freaking kidding me. All over the Comcast they were talking about how many fans were down there. You are a miserable person who can not be happy. Why dont you save yourself misery and stop watching baseball all together. I was there and it was amazing. We represented well
  2. Ozzie could have handled a bit better but he should have done what he was told. I personally did not see it but I read about it. I could not watch that game it was to stressful. You always have your teams back.
  3. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) It was a really snazzy one. I think it was an escalade?? Yeah, the mods over there finally had enough with the media watches and banned me. Supposedly your not supposed to talk about the other team over there (Shhhhh, cubs), but they have a forum specifically designated for talking about the other team there, (and a wildly popular and media-mentioned thread "write your own cubune headline) so I think something else was going on, not sure what, they havnt told me Being obsessed and bringing the Cubs into everything couldnt have anything to do with it ....could it?!?!
  4. Going Friday and Saturday. This will be my 3rd trip of the year.
  5. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) I didnt think it was that big a deal, but apparently, the media are running wild with this the last couple of days. If they start letting outfielders wear wireless headphones ............... You dont think anything is a big deal when it comes to the media...now if this is something you discovered it would be the biggest thing since the World Series.
  6. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 11:59 AM) Well, I see facts and true figures mean nothing to you but insults do... IMHO, you never read my post. But others should. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...dpost&p=1173334 I did it was good stuff. Now I dont post here hardly but I have been lurking for a while. I find it a bit ridiculous that this Hangar 18 guy has been on here for a long time now in fact member # 2 but only has a lilttle over a 100 posts. Up until he got banned from WSI he had like 20 at the most. And he come here and has the audacity to be rude to people by saying ask an intellegent question along with other rude comment that have been posting here day after day. who does he think he is?
  7. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 11:43 AM) :banghead bang away...you are like the preacher guy in front of old navy on state street. talk and talk and talk and only a few people stop to listen!
  8. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) Wait, your taking ONE LINE, where he mentions that the SOX are outspending the Cubs by $10 million ... where are you going with this? His article is RAHRAH, did you read the end of it? His throwing that $10 Million out there is certainly a way (in his mind) to remind the Cubs to start outspending the SOX. Its foolish on his part, because we know that simply spending $$$$$$$$$ doesnt guarantee winning. ("hey hangar, but werent you the one who called the SOX cheap because they wouldnt spend money? Your contradicting yourself again) I started my "crusade" in 2002, after years of noticing this ridiculous inequity in coverage. In fact, I noticed it Immediately in 81, 82, and especially in 84 when things got out of hand. The problem I had in posting my totals from 1984 was THE INTERNET WASNT READILY AVAILABLE as it is now. Your right, the random fan in SanDiego will hopefully read that and say to himself, WOW, the SOX are a big-market team After the SOX won the WS last year, I remarked often how things in the Media will change. Or how the Media will be FORCED to acknowledge the SOX and there was really only 2 ways for them to go. There was a reporter from the Tribune and SunTimes at the bar I was at (puffers) and they asked what all of this meant to me. I basically said the White Sox winning it all changes EVERYTHING, they will NOT be the dirty step-child of the city, and the Media will HAVE TO ACKNOWLEDGE the White Sox and Give them their DUE finally, they EARNED IT. Well, they never used my quote obviously. But the 2 ways the Media couldve gone (which is why alot of people were interested, myself included, to see how the Media would take the SOX winning) were either A: Give the SOX their due, and give them the EXTRA COVERAGE they didnt get previously OR B: Continue with Status Quo but b**** even more about the Cubs and What they need to do to win. So far, thru June 14th ................ that other team is winning "So far, thru June 14th ................ that other team is winning" Funny because I believe we have the better record. 1.5 games out of first place and they are what? 11 games? Get over yourself.
  9. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:50 AM) good questions. Kind of. DeLuca story is about BARRET, not the SOX. SOX only mentioned because they are part of that suspension, and DeLuca LAZILY uses ozzies quotes from day before YESTERDAY. The SunTimes felt compelled however to put this in the "cub" section. QuickHits uses its lead headline to determine what is the real "story" in its section. Had they used something else like "Woods likes Golf", I wouldnt have counted it. Greg Couch is ridiculing the Cubs. He sounds like a pissed off cub fan who is tired of losing and is trying to play GM and get them to do something. Of course, he submitted this from the Wrigley press box, and the Cubs are in town, so he is compelled to write a Cub story (unlike last week, where he did a piece on the Tigers ). I too see Couch laughing at the cubs ........... This article doesnt rub off as "negatively slanted" as much as its a "were tired of losing-heres what we need to do" piece. Couch could easily have written a piece on who is available for the SOX Pen, or we could have another update on Dustin Hermanson. You see what you want to see BECAUSE YOU ARE OBSESSED WITH THE CUBS! Might as well give in and get a Barrett Jersey! At least your obsession will be healthy!
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 07:38 AM) Amen. I think this train wreck has run it's course. OCD is treatable. Please see your local psychiatrist.
  11. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 10:31 AM) How come I feel this would be like a time-share seminar? Come to a patio-party, but first you'll have to listen to a lecture on the evils of the Chicago media before you get to drink or eat. I can guarentee that is all you would hear.
  12. QUOTE(R.J. @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 03:08 AM) I give 100% support to the Cubs this weekend and am of the opinion that Sox fans should do the same. Nobody likes the Cubs, but I dislike the guys in front of us more. I haven't checked the schedule, but if they play Cleveland, I'll root for them there too. I m not going to be cheering for the Cubs....by that I mean the words lets go Cubbies will not be leaving my mouth, but I wish them nothing but the best this weekend. I hope they kick the Tigers ass. If there is any time I hope the Northsiders have success this would be it. HELL YA CUBS! Please beat the TIGERS!
  13. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:14 AM) Just wanted to say hello to everyone here. Ive been documenting the Chicago Media blatant bias against the World Champion White Sox for a number of years. Its been a hot topic the last couple of years, ESPECIALLY in the last couple of weeks. Most casual fans had no idea the lengths and trouble the Chicago Media goes thru to A: Make the SOX look bad and B: Make that north-side team look great. From constantly comparing the attendance figures between both parks, hiliting the Good (them) and the Bad (always us), the Media Watch is way to shine a light right back on the people who are supposedly in charge of getting and reporting to us the News. The Internal Affairs of sports if you will. Some of you may know me from the other website, truth be known, I was BANNED for my Media Watches. Some there feel that if you Ignore the Problem, It will Go Away. (that never works, history tells us so) Some there feel it important that Everyone Agree with them or Else. Thats not the case here. If you dont agree. Hallelujah. Its a Democracy! Media Attention is very important for a baseball team, especially one in a two team city. That other team is somehow known the world over, for simply, being BAD? Were the Champions, and were going to make sure the SOX get their due. The Deserve It. You clearly need to get a life. You are the only one who cares about this. :finger QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 12:02 PM) I remember last fall an entire network (FOX) devoted their post-season coverage to our team. We've gotten our due...you need to get over it. I guess some people hate the Cubs more than they love the Sox Its ashame when someone loves what they hate more then loving what the like. Maybe he was a Cubs fan pre 2003 and after the Cubs blew the playoffs he converted. Some people just need a life.

    Parade

Here is the email I got from my work (The heads of all 285+ separate Chicago business groups have been blind copied on the following message from the 231 Building owner, American Financial Realty (AFR) ): The City of Chicago has announced that a ticker tape parade to celebrate the White Sox's World Series win will be held tomorrow, Friday, October 28 at 12 noon. The parade will begin at the intersection of Jackson Boulevard and LaSalle Street, right outside this building, and will proceed north on LaSalle to Wacker Drive. Beginning at approximately 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, service deliveries to buildings along the parade route will be limited. If anyone within the Bank has any deliveries scheduled between the time of 11 am - 2 pm, you should contact the vendors to re-schedule.
