QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 05:08 PM) Jeter has been one of the most overrated shortstops in decades, mainly because people don't know how atrocious his defense is and was. Well, I am just an old man compared to most on this board, I assume. I am probably an old school type of guy and not so worried about things like is he a great defensive SS. I will take 20 years of Derek Jeter as my SS cause all his other attributes more than made him a HOF SS in my opinion. To have a guy with that bat in the lineup as your SS every day, what an advantage.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) And Derek Jeter was a well-below average, sometime terrible defensive player his entire major league career. I'm not sure why his past could be encouraging for Micah. lol. He sure looked pretty good to me. You must be a stat head.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 02:39 AM) Hell, make him an outfielder. This is what they need to do, and do it soon, so he knows how to play OF by time we need him, if his success continues. 18 errors already, well over 50 in a year. I know Derek Jeter made over 50 errors in his first or 2nd full minor league season, but my god, that was as a SS and not a 2Bman.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 31, 2013 -> 09:03 PM) Maybe, but the iron hands might be fixable. He's got speed and range, I've seen reports of him making spectacular plays... but I've also seen someone watching the games mention he tries to make big plays a little too hard. calming down a bit may help. And his bat/speed combo may not play as well in the OF. Finally, those other OF's may not make it, but they aren't going to be benched in favor of Micah any time soon. Makes some sense, and I do realize the Sox mgmt would not own up to removing those OFs from the equation sooner than later. I do disagree with your bat/speed combo. Micah is already showing he has pop of his own with the bat, and someone like a Tim Raines would look real good in LF for a long time. He has a long ways to go, but I give him a chance. We need a prototype leadoff hitter and this kid could be that eventually, has the eye, has the wheels and has some pop to his bat as well.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 31, 2013 -> 02:29 PM) He has, but no one is publishing new lists right now. He will be, probably soon, but there is a 2B ahead of him that the org likes a lot. Not saying that is a GOOD reason necessarily, but, that is a reason. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. That would be great, and it is possible, but still a LONG stretch from A ball. Sanchez handles 2B very well defensively, but reports from SS range from below average to above average, so it is really hard to say. Right now, moving him positionally is probably not a good idea, as it distracts from the key element for him at the moment, which is getting the bat back. I am going to guess that Micah moves to the OF before any of the 2nd basemen ahead of him move to another position. He has made a lot of errors, that speed would be nice in the OF. I am also going to say that out of Mitchell, Thompson, Walker and Hawkins, likely only Thompson makes the big leagues and he will not be an impact player. So there should be room for this kid in LF.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 31, 2013 -> 06:26 PM) Ryan Buch released, Jake Cose moves up to W-S. Anthony Bucciferro called up to Kanny to take Cose's place. Wonder if Kibby will go into rotation? On a side note, sad to see CJ Retherford get released from the AA team he was on.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 30, 2013 -> 03:18 PM) OK, you mean the league transactions - got it. Thanks. Correct.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 30, 2013 -> 03:12 PM) I think you are missing what I am saying... are people searching, in Google or Twitter or anything else, for this guy or B-Ham every day? I was just curious how he heard about this. Of course I can see it now, I just wonder how he heard about it. I check the Barons, as well as the other Sox affiliates every day for transactions, I keep my own little Database with information. Something to do with my retirement days and keeps me a little involved in computer work (which I did for 30 years with IBM).

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 30, 2013 -> 02:40 PM) I can't find this in the usual places... what is your source? Just curious as there have been a couple times you had other minor league info like this that I couldn't find until later. I'm always searching for sources. It was under the transactions tab on the Barons website, the usual place I look for transactions, almost missed it as it mentions Trenton as well.

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ May 30, 2013 -> 04:24 AM) Drafted in '05 but didn't pitch in the minors until '10... http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=romans001jos Drafted again in 08, played 4 or 5 games, as an outfielder, hurt his arm, had TJ surgery and was released. Yankees picked him up and started him out in A ball right away and had some hopes for him.

Barons get LP Josh Romanski in a trade. Was in Yankees org. Does not specify others in the trade as of yet.

Trevor Reckling was released. Kanny picked up an outfielder who was released by KC, Alex Llanos, as Ramirez was put on the DL.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 26, 2013 -> 10:16 PM) 45 SB already wow. He has now been caught 12 times, getting caught more regularly of late, he needs to stop running so much.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 22, 2013 -> 03:52 PM) They released a couple guys, Kyle Robinson and Ruben Sierra Jr. Thanks
-
I have Kanny with 27 active players. Late last week, they recieved Tanner from W-S, Grabe and Ramirez from Ext ST, and activated Marjama. They sent 2 catchers to Ext ST, those two were Fisher and Rosario. That indicates they went from 25 to 27. I was hoping they finally released Tyler Williams and Palmiero's kid. Have not seen anyone put on DL or anything, anyone know what went on there?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 14, 2013 -> 07:24 PM) Jaye from Kanny to W-S (and starts tonight) Buch from B-Ham to W-S Brase from W-S to Kanny Collop released ...leaves 1 open roster spot in B-Ham. Sanchez came off the DL for the Barons

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 08:53 PM) Nello Gamberdino II @npgsports Michael Earley now has 5 multi-hit G out of the last 6 G for @BhamBarons. Hitting .359 with an OPS of 1.036. #WhiteSox #MiLB #Money Stephen McCray (@McCrazy44) picked up 4th straight W for @BhamBarons. 6.1 IP, 1 ER, 3 H. Now has 2.30 ERA and .184 BAA. #WhiteSox #MiLB All Earley seems to need is a chance to play. He hit all of last year and seemed to drive in a lot of big runs. Doing the same this past week.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 25, 2013 -> 08:56 PM) OK, got the full picture now: --Bill Rice released --Adam Heisler to W-S --Storm Throne and Ruben Sierra Jr to Kanny Throne is an interesting guy, big power arm with little refinement. But if he's there and not in rookie ball, they likely think he fixed some things in Arizona. Heisler is a speedy leadoff type. OF in W-S is now Hawkins, Haddow and Heisler - 3H. Sierra looks like a backup OF who played last year in the Frontier League. Kanny also release Michael Gunter, a RP

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 25, 2013 -> 01:44 AM) Can't believe 37 of Hawkins' 55 AB's (not counting walks/hbp) have ended up as K's. The funniest part is he still has a 720 OPS. I remember the days when we would have been "pleased as punch" for Brian Anderson to be able to put up a 720 at the major league level. Now we have BrYan Anderson and Lars Anderson at Charlotte. Wonder what happened to the real Brian Anderson? And how much of his original signing bonus is left? With Joe Borchard, surely the family was smart enough to invest that $5.3 million...they seemed to be a very down-to-earth, modest, blue collar labor/farming family. Last I could find, Anderson was released by Dodgers in 2012 and signed by Rockies. Cannot find him on any of their active rosters from A ball on up. That is also where we traded Klauss. Cannot find him either on any Rockie roster.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 21, 2013 -> 04:28 AM) What the hell is Wes Whisler still doing in the system? I would rather give his spot to a local walk on or tryout than to have him pitch again. That guy has no business being a pitcher. Jaye is doing pretty good so far. Looks like BP was right on picking him as a top 10 prospect. Minnesota Twins said the same about RA Dickey a few years back and highly regret it now. Whisler is learning the knuckleball I believe.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 02:42 PM) How do you give up 5 runs on only 3 hits and 2 walks with only 1 double and no homeruns? That must have been a really weird inning. Delmarva Bottom of the 1st Gregory Lorenzo walks. With Torsten Boss batting, Gregory Lorenzo steals (2) 2nd base. Torsten Boss lines out to left fielder Kale Kiser. Christian Walker singles on a line drive to right fielder Jason Coats. Gregory Lorenzo scores. Nik Balog singles on a ground ball to left fielder Kale Kiser. Christian Walker to 2nd. Joel Hutter singles on a line drive to left fielder Kale Kiser. Christian Walker to 3rd. Nik Balog to 2nd. Roderick Bernadina strikes out swinging. Wynston Sawyer walks. Christian Walker scores. Nik Balog to 3rd. Joel Hutter to 2nd. Pitching Change: Zachary Isler replaces Jefferson Olacio. Adrian Marin singles on a ground ball to third baseman Patrick Palmeiro. Nik Balog scores. Joel Hutter to 3rd. Wynston Sawyer to 2nd. Anthony Vega singles on a line drive to right fielder Jason Coats. Joel Hutter scores. Wynston Sawyer scores. Adrian Marin to 2nd. Gregory Lorenzo flies out to center fielder Adam Heisler.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 6, 2013 -> 03:28 PM) Just what the Sox need, a 26-year old 3B at high-A. That's John Farrell's son, by the way. Looks like he was on mid year All Star team in Eastern League, in fact 3 years he has been an all-star. His stats do not really reflect that.
-
Brackman now on W-S DL. Also appears they picked up a 3Bman named Jeremy Farrell.
-
QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 02:03 AM) Totally forgot about Brackman. If you really want to know you could always try Oester's twitter. I actually got a response from Reckling last night. Thanks, that is ok, not going to contact anyone. 2 other names that should have been in A ball or above. John Shelby and Kyle Robinson. Shelby likely got cut.

QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 12:58 AM) Carroll had TJ last offseason, so he's done for the year easily. Morrison, Oester, and Andy Gonzalez seem to be floaters as well. More likely they all got released. I don't see a fit anywhere for them. Did Brackman make it onto any roster or is he even around anymore? Matt Lane? Oester?
