  1. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 04:45 PM) Cleuluis hasn't been striking out at all in Winston-Salem Rondon also has made only 2 errors in 12 games at SS since going to W-S.
  2. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 03:08 PM) I just read that Sox signed a 22 year old catcher named Ryan Plourde. Never heard of him..... 2014 NDFA from Fairfield.
  3. QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 09:53 PM) Not Jake, Angel. We picked him up off waivers from TB a few days ago. Ah, forgot about him already. Thanks. Apologies to other poster as well.
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 07:19 PM) Braulio Ortiz gets promoted to AA, Sanchez to the Dash Sanchez? He was traded a few weeks back. Do you mean Chavez?
  5. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 01:34 PM) No harm in bringing guys in to see if you can get anything out of them. Exactly, you never know when one will pan out. We found Putnam this way.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 03:13 PM) So at midway point, how are people feeling about Hawkins? His K rate staying at 25%, but his BBs are at 11%. Is this year better or worse than expected? Is it good enough to promote or should he stay there? Better than expected, still need more consistency. Stay where he is, if a promotion occurs Coats and May deserve it sooner.
  7. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 29, 2014 -> 03:03 PM) What? At 19th years old? What the hell happened? I mean, I know he was awful in his 2 rookie seasons in Bristol, but he was supposed to be such a tough sign out of H.S., that I figured they would have just kept him in rookie ball each year until he got older and improved. Seems like a short leash for a guy they tried hard to keep away from college. Maybe he has some demons.
  8. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 29, 2014 -> 02:43 PM) I just found a current roster for the AZL team, and Sammy Ayala was not on it. Was he cut? Yes, he was released
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 06:21 PM) No Ramos or Castillo. Extended spring training? Ramos is on our DSL team
  10. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 04:58 PM) The Voyagers begin their season Monday. Any news on their roster? Here is a URL with a newspaper article with the partial roster. http://www.greatfallstribune.com/story/spo...eased/10513435/
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 03:23 PM) I've also seen Ben Zobrist's name thrown out there as well as a (hoped for) comp. If I'm wrong about Escobar not being able to sustain that level of success...then you can make the same arguments about Gillaspie, Flowers, Beckham, Davidson, etc. For Sonix, if he really believes that Saladino now has a better profile (than Escobar) to be a super utility guy in the majors based largely on his success this season in AAA, we'll just have to wait and see about that. I guarantee you the Twins would not even consider Escobar for Saladino. Escobar has won the starting SS job up here and is hitting with some authority. I believe you are correct, Saladino has a long, long way to go to be an Escobar. Maybe the Escobar of 2-3 years ago, but that is no longer the same player that goes out there today.
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 01:34 PM) Eduardo Escobar is a slap hitting utility player who has had a hot start for the Twins. He has not suddenly turned into a guy who is going to put up 60 doubles in a season. Making that assumption and/or comparison is like comparing Brent Lillibridge to Greg Colbrunn based on his 2011 season. I see a ton of Twins games living up here. Escobar is no longer a "slap hitter". He drives the ball quite well, better than I ever thought he would. No wonder the Sox hated to give him up. He is going to be a very nice player for quite some time.
  13. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ May 28, 2014 -> 10:16 PM) Don't disagree, but who is the SS of the future? Anderson has more work to do than Sanchez -- and he's only a year younger. SS of the future is likely not even in our system at this time. Ramirez is good for another 5 years.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 23, 2014 -> 05:36 PM) Yeah but Ortiz and Lowry are intriguing arms, and Lowry's had one start - and has a 1.80 ERA. Jaye still has potential too. Yes, I agree on Lowry and Ortiz. Jaye has never intrigued me, not sure why, gut feel I guess.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 23, 2014 -> 03:14 PM) White Sox MiLB affiliates now have the worst winning percentage among MLB organizations at .396. And Kannapolis is the lone semi-bright spot, which most would not have predicted entering the season. And tonight the 4 pitchers going for the Sox org are a combined 0-13
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 16, 2014 -> 08:47 PM) That's true, forgot about McCully. Thing is, he's been far better as a reliever than a starter. I agree with that. They promoted Micah and a reliever, Fuentes. They took a reliever off the DL, Cales, and called up a starter with Recchia. So before Doyle was cut they had 6 starters and maybe McCully was going to the pen.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 16, 2014 -> 08:41 PM) Maybe, though that experiment pretty well failed. They could do that and promote a reliever like Hanson from W-S. Don't they have 5 starters? Beck, Jaye, Snodgress, McCully, Recchia.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ May 7, 2014 -> 01:17 PM) http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20140507 Charlotte has a morning game. Johnson starts. Let's see if Gillaspie is still there. Winston-Salem plays this morning as well.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 01:44 PM) I never knew Trayce Thompson was related to Golden State Warriors SG Klay Thompson. That's pretty cool. Other than that, glad to see Thompson and Johnson start off great with the Barons. Their dad, Mychael, was a better athlete than either of the two kids, and that is saying something.
  20. Olmedo was thrown out twice in Tuesdays game on outfield assists. One was at 1B by Mitchell. Today Olmedo was just thrown out by Mitchell at either 2nd or 3rd.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 03:23 PM) Omo was released? I didn't know about that one. http://m.timesonline.com/sports/blackhawk-...4.html?mode=jqm
  22. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Feb 22, 2014 -> 06:39 AM) The Rule 4 draft is 40 rounds, so teams must jettison 40 players from the minors each season. Now some will move to the majors, others will just decided to find a new profession, some AAAA players won't be offered new contracts...but there are still a lot of cuts to be made. Where do most of the cuts come from? Is there a big fallout rate after the summer Rookie League? Or guys who can't get past low A? Most teams do not sign all 40 of their picks in the draft, but typically 25-30 is a likely number. Since most players newly drafted players start out on a Rookie League team (like Great Falls or Bristol), which are not full season teams (they start after the draft) there is not a need to really cut 25-30 players. They normally are weeded out in Spring Training minor league camp, and a majority would be from the previous years Rookie League teams or teams in A ball. That is my take.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 10, 2014 -> 10:16 PM) Leyson Septimo has signed with an Atlantic League (Ind) team, so he's gone. Only remaining MiLB FA's who were with Sox org that remain unsigned with any team: RHP Simon Castro (my guess is the Sox re-sign him) RHP Johansel Delgado (23 yo in Rk lg last year, hard to say what happens with him) 1B/OF Jimmy Gallagher (he's 28 now, and I don't see the Sox needing his services, he's a MiLB bench guy) RHP Ramon Troncoso (I don't see him back either) How about Jason Berken? UPDATE: I see Berken signed with SF, how about Miguel Gonzalez, the C. I do not see that he signed anywhere?
  24. The 4 Sox pitchers: McCray, Leesman, Bassitt and Vance have yet to give up a run in the AFL. Impressive thus far.
