  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 02:45 AM) Per a source. Honel is supposed to be there too, saw it in a Great Falls newspaper article.
  3. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ May 11, 2006 -> 01:39 PM) Depends on if someone is hurt or struggling. They could just "DL" someone rather than send them down. Anyone ever hear what Sweeney's injury was?

  8. Guess I had not seen that move, Signed 2B Victor Mercedes and OF Ernie Young. Released RHP Matthew Nachreiner. Placed LHP Armando Almanza on restricted list.
  9. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 05:49 PM) I would really like to see Malone continue his success. As well, Ricky Brooks needs to step up and show his potential. Well, Malone had a Shutout into the 8th, it was 4-0.
  10. QUOTE(Chisox_10 @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) I know its early but Amador 0-5 hitting .156 and not showing production in previous years. can anyone clue me in to why the sox relased spidale and sent him to birmingham? Spidale is older, has had his chances at upper echelon leagues and did not pan out. Amador may be struggling and likely won't pan out either, but you have to give him his chance. Do not want to keep around career minor leaguers to prevent growth in the kids, no matter what it does to the records of the teams.
  11. Charlotte wins 7-5 this afternoon, offense from Fields and Owens and Velendia. Haeger with win, tho not sharp. Lopez with another save, he has done well. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...=g_box&did=milb Birm leads 2-0 after 8, 2 run homer for Schnur in the 7th for only runs. Lumsden 5 scoreless (yet to give up a run so far) and West with 2 scoreless. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...biraax_hunaax_1 Win-Salem won 6-4 tonight. Whisler with win. Offense from Gomes (first homer and another hit), Kelly and Smith. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...myrafa_wswafa_1 Kanny down 7-4, all 7 in first off the starter, great relief. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...ashafx_kanafx_1
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 04:22 AM) Getz is on the 40 according to the Sox website. Muñoz is in extended spring, should join the squad soon. I see the following on DL's, suppose they could be in extended ST, but listed on DL. Char - Munoz, Josh Fields (the pitcher) and Vlad Nunez, TIm Hummel Birm - Honel, Wing, Carlos Lee, W-S - Cole Armstrong, Ryan McCarthy, Kanny - Clayton Richard, Grant Hansen, Eric Hollis, Where is :: David Sanders the reliever? Armando Almanza?? Josh Shaffer (maybe we finally released this guy, about time)
  13. QUOTE(mac9001 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 03:37 AM) Where is Arnie Munoz? DL
  14. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 07:16 AM) I hope he does well too, but he's still somewhat of a dick. Was before he had his big year in the minors, I am told. My first experience with him was during that year and he was not a major asshole, just stuck on himself and just a dick. I don't know how else to explain it. I had a friend that played on the Nats last year and he intimated not much had changed and that Rauch wasn't the most popular teammate. The guy could pitch, I'll give him that, but he has always been one of those guys without a lot of friends at the ballpark. I guess that is the best way I can put it. So Jamie Carroll did not like Rauch much eh?
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 06:35 AM) Actually I think Upton is still play SS for them currently and its most likey that with Chris Young Upton would play LF. Stephen Drew is their future SS.
  16. QUOTE(BB2ZZ @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) What about the Warthog "Bombers" Hall, Daigle and Collaro? Hall and Daigle are now in Orioles system, so they will not be in Birmingham.
  17. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 05:35 AM) I'm honestly not sure. Yep, latest BA has some cuts in it Brice, LHP Eric Everly, catcher Cesar Castillo, LHP Jim Bullard, OF Clint King, OF Seth Morris, 3B Mike Swain, SS Derek McNeill, RHP Orionny Lopez, RHP James Casey. All were released.
  18. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) OF/P We released him correct?
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 05:22 PM) Seems a little topheavy on recent prospects, but that's not really a surprise. That would be cause most of the earlier prospects he traded did not pan out, despite how promising they were, ie Royce Ring, Joe Valentine and on and on. So in a few years when guys like Gio and Haigwood either make it or not, this list would be interesting to look at. Give me a solid proven major leaguer over a prospect most of the time.
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) Wasn't he supposed to be included in the Garland/Erstad trade that the Angels backed out of a few years ago? Yep, he and Almonte were the two minor leaguers in that one.

Grade A Minors: Three teams made playoffs and Class A Kannapolis won Sally League title, but Charlotte was one of the worst teams in AAA. Grade B Talent Level: Bobby Jenks, Tadahito Iguchi and Brandon McCarthy played important roles in Chicago, and the system is stocked with outfielders. Grade B Player Procurement: Didn't have to deal major prospects this year, as most key pieces were already in place. Lance Broadway highlighted pitching-oriented draft. Grade B Org Direction: Few looked to Kenny Williams and Ozzie Guillen as pacesetters before the season, but now they look like they could keep on winning. Grade A

  23. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) They seem to love the ones with unusual names. Fabio Castro Ruddy Yan Frankie Francisco Well, that's all I can think of, cause Anthony Webster isn't really fun to say. Ryan Wing too. for a while
  24. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 06:58 AM) Btw, with all this talk about how good Haigwood is, my sleeper pick turned out to be pretty good, eh? Good choice, but no idea how you can qualify Haigwood as a sleeper, he has been good since we signed him. Struggled a bit after being off a year with the knee injury.
  25. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 03:56 AM) I'm with you on the percentages and likelihoods, but Buehrle doesn't have 1, 2 or 3 starter stuff either. Some guys can just flat out pitch. I was really impressed with Haigwood, so count me in on the lovefest with Jason. But I did only see him twice and he still has a long way to go, so I am not here to pronounce him as the next Buehrle, but he is as close as I have seen - with a better breaking ball! I am with Rex and Jason. I know Haigwood does not have Gio's arm, but he has good stuff, is bigger and stronger, knows how to pitch. I have a feeling he is going to surprise.
