  1. Agreed. Ask yourself if you would be furious if the Sox acquired Shields for nothing and tried to sell it to the fans as an upgrade if they were contending. Shields isn't an MLB pitcher at this point, despite his results, any attempt to claim otherwise is ridiculous. He's only going somewhere if DFA.
  2. Shields doing Shields things. i.e. giving up gopher balls. Now that the weather is better expect him to go from serviceable to crap.
  3. When they play the Twins, I want them to win. I don't really care about any other series, just beat the Twins.
  4. Randy Marsh???? I'll show ya a 2 ball count.
  5. OK ump, you can stop giving Moncada "the rookie treatment" No more 26 inch plate.
  6. If you looked up "punch and Judy hitter" in a baseball encyclopedia his mug would be in there
  7. Santiago is clearly going to the bullpen when Rodon returns and Kopech is coming up when Shields is launched.
  8. I'd rather give Palka ABs over Davidson TBH. Platoon them going forward. Or try to hide him in LF. Also, Tilson needs to lead off and Moncada needs to go to the middle of the lineup.
  9. This weekend becomes fun. Listen to a postgame show with two Rondons and a Rodon on the team-Hilarity will ensue.
  10. Fuck the Twins. Pound them into oblivion
  11. La La La I can't hear you Tatis Jr.=Voldemort. Forever to be known as "He that shall not be named" unless he is a complete flop at the MLB level. As soon as Shields isn't going out there every 5th day I can choose to forget about Tatis.
  12. Yeah, it would have been shades of 02-04. We all need therapy for our PTSD from that era. I remember one time Castillo was up vs Freddy Garcia and he hit a ball off the turf of the Dome just barely in front of home plate it went so high that Castillo was standing at 1B when Garcia caught it in front of the mound. It was so infuriating.
  13. If there is really interest from contenders in Shields, launch his ass now. Turn the page on one of the worst trades in the last 25 years of Sox baseball.
  14. He was a decent player, but it always seemed like Jason Kubel used to kill the Sox in the later part of the 00s. I never understood why they couldn't pound Radke and shitty players like Kielty, Mientkewicz and Koskie used to kill the Sox in the early part.
  15. This season I don't care if they lose every other series, just beat the fucking shit out of the Twins. Pound them into oblivion.
  16. If they blow this game it will be reason #1,723,688 why I fucking hate the Twins. The Sox and Twins are going to be battling for the division for most of the next decade, they can't let those fuckers get in their head like they did 15 years ago. There is no team in baseball I hate more than the Twins, and yes, that includes the Chicago National League Ballclub.
  17. This is Giolito's 2015 Futures game appearance This is his MLB debut with the Nationals.
  18. We really don't know what it is. He's not the same guy he was in 2015, that's for sure. It's up to Coop and the Sox to get him as close as possible.
  19. They had already started tinkering at that point. go look at his 2015 stats and then his 2016 stats I'd imagine they were night and day.
  20. I disagree, if he's putting his faith in one of the best pitching coaches in baseball. Remember in 2007-08 when Floyd was first with the Sox he was in the 89-91 range and when he got comfortable repeating his new delivery with Coop he was sitting 94-96 regularly. You'd be surprised.
  21. We don't know for sure actually. I don't think him returning to 95-96 is out of the question though. I really think he's working on muscle memory and they really don't care about results quite yet. There's that curveball. He's been broken down and rebuilt twice. Again, Washington tried to fix what wasn't broken and messed with a guy in the process. He's probably working on repeating his delivery in a controlled manner and as we saw with Floyd, once he got comfortable he turned it loose and his velocity returned. What gives me hope is that he only goes to 90-92 when he's out of whack, and when he's controlled, he's more 93-94.
  22. Yes. I think that the Sox, Coop and Giolito himself know the stuff that made him the top pitching prospect in baseball is still there, it is going to take some time for it to be unleashed, If they didn't think that guy still existed I think he'd have been sent to Charlotte long ago.
  23. I saw a lot of encouraging things from Giolito today, I think he's close to turning it around. Might take until after the ASB, but watch out the 2nd half of the season. He's still been bad by all accounts today, but there are still some encouraging signs.
  24. They were talking about him flying around on the mound and it was my observation of the last inning that had the rest of that. I'd be glad to send a note to Coop, but I don't think he'd take advice from a nobody like me. I guess I could let Gio know over Twitter because I follow him but I don't think that would be appropriate.
