  1. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) These would be a lot more watchable if they told congress to keep their buts in their seats until the speech is over. Its the same thing no matter who is president. Whatever party the president is in, spends half the time jumping up and clapping like they never heard of such awesomeness. The other side has a grumpy look on their face. This years mini-SOTU that the republicans ran afterwards was stupid as well. Nancy Pelosi had some sort of facial tick thing going on. That was scary. How about hooking up a generator to her eyes to power the grid with her blinking?
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) The one month treasury bill yield went negative again today, first time since the plummeting stopped last March. That means investors think that there's likely to be a sell-off in the near future, if I understand these things at all, and they're willing to lose money on treasuries rather than keep money in stocks. And everyone says I'm Dr. Doom.
  3. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...0012701601.html I know, I always point out negative news.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) I assume he meant that 90% of the value of the stock market would be lost and we'd enter a new dark age. (Probably means 90% of the publicly traded stocks go down). S&P 500 stocks.
  5. We should have a 90% down day this week if not tomorrow!
  6. What would have been courageous is a CUT in spending of 20%. Freezing does nothing. But then that would mean gov't would have to shrink, and we cannot have that, can we?
  7. Pence will not run against Bayh for IN Senate. Bayh trailed by 3-4%. But former Rep. Hostetler is running and currently trails Bayh by 3-4%.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 09:38 AM) This government intervention will linger for a decade? I find that nearly impossible to believe. In terms of the magnitude of its impact, every measurement says it was an order of magnitude smaller than the housing bubble itself. The effect of the housing bubble will linger for a decade, I'll buy that. Here's a way of looking at the government intervention: Destruction of Debt will last at least a decade.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 09:31 AM) Everything in the last year of the market needs to be considered in the light of the massive government intervention in the housing market. One way to interpret that is that Chicago saw a rush of buyers to take advantage of the tax credit, and that rush of buyers kept the housing market from falling as fast as it would have had the employment bust been able to affect it on its own. The end result of that might therefore be an expectation of a more severe price drop in that region due to unemployment once the government housing price support program ends. I cannot repeat this enough. This time is different. It was not a typical bubble. It will linger for a decade at least.
  10. Sell all rallies, a large move is imminent. Pulled all money from the mkt. Told family the same.. FWIW...
  11. Well it looks like the R's will pick up there 2nd seat for sure. This time DE, as Beau Biden says he will wait until 2014 to run.
  12. FWIW we were down Wed,Thur,Fri going into black monday. We will turn the monthly chart on SPX down next week and the subsequent move down to the low 1000's should play out.
  13. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) What would you say, the FMV of the Dow should be? Don't really know, I trade futures. But I will say the high may be in for a while....10700 area was a good area to short..And we turned the monthly chart down today on a weekly closing basis(Very Bearish)..We should test the 9858 level in the coming week or so..
  14. Free Falling!!! If futes close below 1080 today, I believe we gap down huge Monday....Fwiw.....Regardless.. we will see low 1000's by expiration....1007ish(SPX)...And if there is no bounce there 945-954 area(SPX)...
  15. Liquidity will dry up if this plan on banks passes. But gov't always over-reaches.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 09:46 AM) The Dow down almost 160 after the GOP picks up another seat. Dow down 207 waiting to hear Obama chastise banks.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 07:31 AM) If the Dems can lose in Massachusetts, they can lose ANYWHERE. At some point, they might want to think about giving people a reason to vote for them. We might be better off letting the Republicans shut down the government and driving unemployment to 15% than we would putting up with this charade. More Gov't jobs...More Gov't jobs...More Gov't jobs...That unemployment rate will be at 5% in no time....If we just pass this health care bill we will save 35 million jobs... Blah blah blah...
  18. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) Take a pay cut, for the good of the government. s***head.
  19. Man flees police in Munich airport after his computer tests positive for explosives. I am unable to link to the story, but it was from CNN.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) Here's the new Republican champion, Scott Brown, reacting with a smile as a constituent yells "Shove a curling iron up her butt!". Ladies and Gentlement, your modern Republican party. In October 2005, a Somerville police officer living in Melrose raped his 23-month-old niece with a hot object, most likely a curling iron. Keith Winfield, then 31, told police he was alone with the toddler that day and made additional statements that would ultimately be used to convict him. But in the aftermath of the crime, a Middlesex County grand jury overseen by Martha Coakley, then the district attorney, investigated without taking action. It was only after the toddler’s mother filed applications for criminal complaints that Coakley won grand jury indictments charging rape and assault and battery. Even then, nearly 10 months after the crime, Coakley’s office recommended that Winfield be released on personal recognizance, with no cash bail. He remained free until December 2007, when Coakley’s successor as district attorney won a conviction and two life terms. Hence the reference to the curling iron.
  21. “Why would you hand the keys to the car back to the same guys whose policies drove the economy into the ditch and then walked away from the scene of the accident?” Oops. Maryland Congressman, Chris Van Hollen Hey Chris, It is Teddy's seat. LMAO. What a douche.
  22. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) certainly it has happened before (at least on the house side). 11 in the Senate would be unreal. However looking at the actual races, is it realistic? Well certainly NV,ND,CO,MA,DE,PA,AR,and CT are in play. And I would say the first three are surefire pickups for the R's.
  23. “When we see what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen, this is the response, this is what happens, you know what I’m sayin’?”........Danny Glover.... Not as bad as the loon Robertson, but WTF?
  24. Let's hope this is true: http://www.nationalreview.com/onthenews/?q...DliZjQ2M2M0OGI= Keep up the good work
  25. Why is it the more I read about her the more I think Martha Coakley is the Deomcratic Harriet Miers?
