#2 When you draft last 6 times in an 8 year span, do you really think you will be able to draft well? How many second rounders turn into superstars? Hey Krause did a pretty damn good job by beating most GM's to the punch and drafting Euro players. Heck if Tony Kukoc were to come out today he would have been a top 10 pick. Krause got him in the 2nd round and got him to come to the US for not a lot of money. #3 Pippen wasn't lucky. The Bulls didn't draft him. Portland did, and we suckered Portland into Olden Polynice for him. #4 no free agents wanted to sign with the Bulls because of Michael Jordan. It is well known that MJ's fued with Krause and his never lose attitude made him call many of the potential FA's that first year and tell them NOT to go to Chicago.
