AND THIS BALL GAME IS OVA!!!
Great game all around today. I loved BA's hustle on the double, too bad he will probably be benched Friday. Any more details on the Iguchi mishap?

Twins vs. A's - 9/13/06
A's take the lead 1-0 on a Payton double. They got helped out by Randy Marsh on a bad call on a stolen base. Haren is absolutely dealing.

Liriano just left in the top of the third with an injury, looked like the elbow.

MOVIE TIME
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 01:19 AM) Am I the only poster who likes sabremetrics and dislikes that book? I read a few chapters, and I just thought it was dull. It is a hagiography of someone who is good at his job but not all that interesting otherwise. I mean, I thought I would like it. I'd see the movie just to see if I come away with a better impression. I liked the book but I'm not a big fan of sabermetrics

Going to the bottom of the second, Liriano looking sharp. Good thing he is only going to throw 60-65 pitches. He made Frank look awful.

Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:11 AM) I can't believe we just threw him a 2-0 fastball right down the plate. Dear Bobby Jenks...please find your fastball. What was his velocity like?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:06 AM) No, the game he stunk was at the Cell. The winds were nuts that day and he had no chance basically all day. I was at that game. He looked awful. Sosa made a horrible error on a fly ball too.

QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) is he really that awful in LF??? Cuz his bat would help this team so much He wouldn't be any worse than Pods.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:54 PM) How the hell did the Twins come back from a deficit against the A's pen? Did Duchscherer or Street blow it? Or does anybody know. Joe Kennedy. Gave up 4 ER.

A good manager like Scioscia will put his 2 best relievers in during a tie game.

Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
We dodged a huge bullet that inning. Haeger probably pitches the 9th with Ozzie managing.

Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
You have got to be f***ing kidding me. Give me haeger or tracey over hermanson.

Bert Blyleven
Man, that's a lot funnier than I thought it would be.

Tie goes to the Sox
I don't know why they just dont do head to head record to determine home field. If the teams are tied just do division record (AL record for the wild card).

Is the Starting pitching back?
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 08:54 AM) You don't have pitchers throw on 3 days rest. That has worked like one time in the past 5 years, being with RJ and Schilling. With a rotation this talented, there is no need. I don't care if Buehrle and Garcia have been struggling. They would start one friggin game in a 5 or 7 game series, so you can probably get atleast a decent outing out of one of the two. Save your starters' arms further from falling off and just go with the 4-man. What could work out in our favor is the possibility of getting the Tuesday-Thursday series (STL-SD got this series last year, so two AL teams will get it this year), with a day off between game 1 and 2. Only one of our pitchers would have to go on three days left. I wouldn't have many problems with Garland going on three days rest either.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) Uh no you wouldnt. He is Pods with speed. he cant hit, he cant field, and he has a bad arm. So what you are saying is he's a better option than Pods

White Sox v. Angels, 9/11, Gamethread
Owens in, at this point I would rather have him leading off and playing left than Pods.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) Was he warming up? I think Ozzie just likes to do it raise our blood pressure. No walks! Farmer said he was warming up. I doubt he comes in, but hearing that phrase in a tight game makes me queasy.

You have to be s***ting me, Hermanson shouldn't come into a game unless we are up by at least 5 runs.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 11:00 PM) It would be quite lovely if Pods can find a way to get Uribe in. I'd rather see Thornton after Napoli bats. Yea, I forgot we had a couple of switch hitters coming up.
