QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 01:58 AM) Ryan Zimmerman never made it to AAA. Not really arguing, just thought I'd point it out. at least AAA, so I am counting guys who skipped AAA.

Call up Logan, Tracey, and Hermanson September 1st (maybe Owens, definately bring him up when Charlotte's season is over). Call up Fields and Sweeney when Charlotte's season is over.
-
Granted he's moving to the NL, but Moyer will get eaten alive at Citizens bank. His road ERA has been awful the past couple of years. I guess its not a bad gamble for the phillies because they didnt give up much.
-
He's no blue chipper, but for as much as everybody b****es about the guy he is only one of eight guys from the 2005 draft to make it to at least triple A.

QUOTE(loltrain @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) Boston and New York seem to be doing a good job showing why they're scary (great hitting) and at the same time almost laughable as serious playoff contenders (terrible pitching). Mostly Boston of course, but Sidney Ponson and the Big Unit aren't too impressive either. Yea, who knows how they will fare in october. Though Wang and Mussina are pretty good starters. With Zito, Haren, Blanton, and maybe a healthy rich Harden, I wouldnt be suprised if Oakland came out of the AL and won the world series.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 12:23 AM) Just got back!!! I know it goes without saying, but it was indeed the greatest movie of all-time. The theater was sold out, and as soon as the movie started and Samuel L's name flashed across the screen, everyone got up to give a standing ovation. It was crazy! I've never seen such a crowd reaction to a movie. The crowd was nuts through the entire movie, clapping when ever Mr. Jackson said a word, or screaming out "SNAKES!!!" whenever appropriate. Oh, man when he said the line, the enitre theater just erupted, and you couldn't even here the rest of his speech. Unfortunatly, the credits at the end had to roll sometime, but not before more standing O's. I'd give it 96 stars out of 4 We mine as well skip the best actor award for Samuel L because it's too obvious. Instead, just give him his lifetime achievment award now- as he'll never be better than he was in this movie(unless there is a sequel of course). I went to the sneak preview tonight becuase my brother is leaving for school tomorrow and he wanted to see it. Let me say it was the first, and last, sneak preview I will ever go to. I just cant stand people clapping in movies, I hate it. Every time Jackson killed a snake everybody had to clap. I guess I couldnt judge the movie accurately because the crowd, but it was decent. I guess it was what I expected, I like how they mixed in some comedy.

Two 18 inning games in one day!!!
WhiteSoxfan1986 replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in The Diamond Club
The astros were really creeping into the wild card race and the central race, then they get swept by the cubs at home. -
We might not be able to set it anyway, because if we win the wildcard it could come down to the last game of the season.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:33 AM) anyone else think it was VERY irresponsible of Baker to play all 25 players?? One tweeked muscle or ejection and they would have forfit the game!! He used all 25, even the other starting pitchers? If thats the case, it was irresponsible. -
QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 11:17 PM) Padilla was at it again tonight for the Rangers. Throw at Vlad's chin, Vlad hit a 3 run donger to break a 3-3 tie and later in the inning Padilla plunked an Angels hitter and was ejected along with Showalter. I wanna say Vlad got thrown at 3 times. I don't know why the Angels didnt retaliate. Cubs and Astros deadlocked at 6 in the bottom of the 16th right now.

New Monday Night Football team

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 01:30 PM) Kornheiser = Dennis Miller but with more sports knowledge. I think it's going to suck. So, the long recent tradition of sucky MNF crews continues. On a side note: I really digg the new MNF graphics. THe little score board thing on the bottom is VERY slick and not obtrusive. Thumbs up! Yep, this is Dennis Miller all over again. I don't even know if Kornheiser knows more about sports than miller either. The scoreboard sucks too. It will be tough watching monday night football this year. -
Javy wasn't great tonight, but I'm not putting this loss on him. It was a mistake to send Gooch with Konerko and Dye at the plate, I am really getting sick of Cora screwing us. The fan interference down the left field line didn't help either. Then there was Dye with the error. It's too bad we couldn't get more than two runs off of Hernandez and his 8 ERA. If we dont take the next two this will be a huge dissapointment.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) I just read on a Mets' board that Pedro is headed to the DL and could be out for quite a while. That's a big, big blow for the Mets. Their pitching is suspect as it is. Anything less than Pedro at or damn near close to 100% come playoff time, and the Mets are in trouble. Who's getting called up, Pelfrey? Cole Hamels with another great start tonight, he could be very key in the wild card race. The guy absolutely racks up the K's, 96 in 84 IP this year.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
WhiteSoxfan1986 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Very impressed with BA today, he now has his average at .225. -
I thought this would be a fun topic to discuss, the best teams since 1980. We could do all time but this is a lot easier for now. Here are mine 1. 1998 Yankees 2. 1984 Tigers 3. 1986 Mets 4. 2005 White Sox 5. 1989 A's

D-Backs. I would like to see philly win it though.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) Overrated... Player: Torii Hunter. Not a doubt in my mind. I've mentioned on here like friggin 100 times about how bad he is offensively, and even though he is still amazing defensively, he's a bit softer now a days and definately gets injured a bit more. Manager: Bruce Bochy. Not necessarily media wise, but for a guy that's been in San Diego for like 10+ years, he hasn't brought them much other than a playoff birth or two and a World Series appearance where they got swept. His team this year has quite a bit of talent, and they are a mediocre ballclub. GM: Theo Epstein. He's got a $150 million payroll, yet his rotation is mediocre, his bullpen is a little above average, and his offense is built entirely around two hitters. Without Manny or Ortiz, the Red Sox offense is nothing. Underrated... Player: Justin Morneau. If Jim can give lovin to Rally Crede, I'll give lovin to the Canuck. Best 1Bman in the AL. Manager: Joe Torre. I don't know understand how people can say he's overrated at all. For 12 straight years(assuming they make it this year), the Yankees will have been in the playoffs. I don't care that the Yankees have a $200 million payroll...Torre doesn't control that at all. I don't care that they have talent up the arse...he doesn't control that either. However, the man's job almost never seems to be safe, as rumors fly about his job security. He also has more egos in his clubhouse than a celebrity golf tournament, yet he keeps everyone in check and keeps everyone happy and producing. He can keep his team playing well through injuries and through the media storm that is New York. He seems to know when to take a pitcher out, when to leave him in, who to call in from the bullpen, who to have pinch hit, when to steal, and when to let Mo get a 2 inning save. In my mind, he's the best manager in the AL, and top 2 in the majors(no idea who I'd say is better between he and Cox). GM: Billy Beane. Big time supporter, obviously, but I don't understand why people think he's overrated. He isn't the god the media sometimes makes him out to be, but he is a top 3-5 GM int he game. Hell, a book was written about him and his philosophy on how to build a team, everyone read it, and yet he is still always one step ahead of the entire baseball world, and has his team loaded with talent and competing with a $45 million payroll(or so). That's just awesome. Completely agree with you on Morneau. He would be my pick for MVP this year, unfortunately Ortiz will get it. Torre is a good manager, but it's ridiculous to say he's underrated.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jerry Owens as the left fielder next season. He is hitting much better the second half, and has hit at every level. He has 37 SB and has only been caught 11 times. He could at least be as good as Pods but much cheaper.
-
Fields should get called up too. I'll like to see Stewart, Fields, Owens, Tracey, and Logan up. One thing to keep in mind is the knights could be playing well into september, so some of these guys wont get called up right away.

Are they with or without the spread? Im sure the college one is.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) Because there are none(unless controlling offensive linemen counts as a new feature). EA is trying to steal your money. Madden is a great game and I will be buying it, but I was kind of disappointed in Madden 06. They really didnt have many new features, and it sucks that there isnt many new features in this years game. It pissed me off when EA bought the NFL rights because I knew this would happen. -
Garza could be solution to 5th spot in rotation...
WhiteSoxfan1986 replied to CWSOX45's topic in The Diamond Club
Why is everybody so down on Broadway anyway? Garza wasnt even supposed to go in the first round, most tems would have passed on him. Broadway has a great curve and is putting up great numbers in AA. A level a lot of first round picks haven't reached yet. Everybody complains about his strikeout rate (which is a legit complaint) but Lumsden's strikeout rate was worse and everybody loved him. I would love to see the Sox take more high upsied guys, but I don't get the Broadway hate. -
WCIU blows. I really wish the Sox would stay with just CSN and WGN. It sucks having to miss those games.
