Travesty.... Finding Neverland was the best movie of last year. very, very sad

QUOTE(Yoda @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) Eastwood pulled the plug on Hillary Swank’s character when the nurses weren’t around. I remember correctly that they were going out for lunch so at that same time Eastwood’s character injected her, meaning no one was around to hear any alarm of some sort. ... and there goes Eastwood with the Oscar. (saw it Friday night) One Nurse Says to the other nurse, "I'm going for coffee" meaning that the there was a nurse at the nursing station. Plus, how did Eastwood AND Freeman get into the building without being checked in by security?? And once Maggie is discovered WITH HER AIRHOLE UNDONE AND THE MACHINE TURNED OFF why aren't the cops alerted?? as for Maggie giving up? any thoughts on that? very disappointing movie.

Mystic River > Million Dollar Baby too bad.

QUOTE(Yoda @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) Best Actor goes to Jamie Foxx. No problem with that. ... though Eastwood is nominated for best director isn't he? I second that. Foxx is very, very talented.

QUOTE(Yoda @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) WTF are you guys talking about? Hillary Swank deserves that Oscar. Now all we need is Clint Eastwood for Best Actor. did you see any of the other movies/women up for an oscar? I had a real problem with the end of Million Dollar Baby. It was a extremely flawed movie. First and foremost, don't you think there'd be an alarm if Maggie's heart monitor went flat? but besides the many logistical mistakes, I thought it was so unlike Swank's character to give up the fight for live. No one, especially a fighter like she was just says, oh well, I had a good run. furthermore, what message does this send to (if he were still alive) Christopher Reeves? more importantly to his family? his accident was some 10 years ago, and all that time he had with his family instead of giving up like Maggie did? In all honesty, I really feel emotionally cheated by that movie. It leaves you with zero hope or joy. I saw The Aviator and Finding Neverland (FN being the best movie I saw last year). I didn't need to see Ray, and I heard that Sideways was great, but it's too non-mainstream to win the big prizes (we'll see)

sweet, hillary swank wins for a role about a fighter with a heart of gold...who turns out to be a quitter...

QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) I hate Sean Penn so much. Way to take everything seriously, dips***. agreed

QUOTE(Whitesox029 @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) First post! WSI veteran here. I just thought I'd double my fun and join up at soxtalk. Might even get into a political scrum here and there for a change. GO !!! It all depends... are you a republican or democrat?

Josh Groban > any singer in history

I really liked "the motorcycle diaries"..... I really hate Carlos "anyone could play that guitar solo" Santana

Kate Winslet looked great, but too bad that dude looked Hiiiiiiiiigh. I'm not gonna be a "Passion" homer, but I just saw Aviator today and by no way was that nearly as beautiful a film as Passion. I smell Aviator Sweep, minus the Morgan Freeman lock.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) Why, why, why did Natalie Portman wear THAT dress? Ick. jealous much?

so I guess we should just elect know-it-all smart ass bong toting college students like yourself to solve all of the problems... nope, Tom Delay is a much better choice, thank you very much....

well if the self-proclaimed "critic" didn't like it, it must be trash

It could be worse, you could just have the Dems refusing to believe that the other have even exisits.....

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) While I agree I don't think we'd have consistent views as to what qualifies as playing nursemaid. Southsider2k5 doesn't shut up about playing nursemaid with Texsox.... and f you in advance for any miss pa jokes

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) Call me oblivious, but I'm not scared of some rogue missile hitting me or my country. And seeing as the majority of Canadians didn't support involvement in missile defense (anyone actually know what this involvement would include?) they don't seem to be too worried either. see Canadia's got a missle defense

the problem is that it has become THE ONLY PLAN for millions of people. And it sounds like you've just got poor advice with your investment package. I'm currently getting a modest 4.5% on my IRA. I won't say you're wrong about it being a huge task to switch over to this plan, but I will say that the social securit plan was a huge mistake in its planning and current implementation.

so I don't need a phone line at all? I got a line with ATT so I could get dial up, cos I thought it was my only option...

I don't get it. I was just pointing out that John Ashcroft gets raked over the coals for ENFORCING law not MAKING law... yet friggin' Janet Reno SHAT on law in her 8 years in office. And by the way.... You are absolutely right....

so let me get this straight... the government can't tell us how to live our lives behind closed doors (consensual homosexual sex), but they can tell us how to spend our money? (non privitized social security). I don't favor repealling the first one, it's just the second part that I don't get. from the AARP website: they don't like privitized SS becuase it's risky, but here....invest your money in a mutual fund so we get a commission. AARP's mutual funds that makes NO sense what so ever...

anyone with experience with this? I'm working on starting an adopt a computer foundation for inner city families. I know people that have P3's sitting in their basements collecting dust, while families in rural and urban areas bust their budgets to get new PCs or just don't have them. I'm working with a couple people on the idea, just thought I'd ask anyone if they had any advice or personal experience.
