QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 01:54 PM) Why we get rid of Makowiak and keep bums like Cintron and Uribe is beyond me. Because it was a deal I couldnt refuse-Ken Williams
-
Cut that >:**&^% Cintron RIGHT NOW

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 01:46 PM) Here is the nut of it. About a month ago, Kenny was steaming in the papers about how changes were coming. He put everyone on notice. And pretty much did nothing. The trade deadline is here and gone. What is the penalty now for the vets to play bad. Williams is nothing more than an actor

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 01:43 PM) This just goes to show how far this team has fallen this year. We score 8 runs in the top of the 2nd only to have the Yankees come back with 8 in the bottom. The bad thing about this is now I am almost convinced we will lose and probably by a large margin. The Yankees have scored 32 runs off our picthers in 20 innings How dare you say we have pitchers

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 09:27 PM) What really irks me is that KW, Ozzie, Walker, and Cooper likely won't lose their jobs this offseason. I'd settle for KW-the record since last July 1 is on him -
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) For all the people that like this move, I am curious about something, if Floyd continues to pitch like he has shown, how many starts do you give him until you do pull the plug? When is enough enough? Until Sept call up time-thats maybe 4 starts?

Nice acquisition, wasnt it, Williams?

Let's help Kenny out and think of some other players...

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 03:21 PM) I never liked KW, but like many, after 05 I backed off and gave him the benefit of the doubt. But since that he has reminded me of why I really don't like him as a GM. I'd be interested in how other GM's view him-he just doesnt seem to connect with the majority of them-never gets serious offers on possible trades. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 08:46 PM) Floyd's stuff is just not really impressive. And like Flash says, KW looks worse with every passing day. Didnt think that was possible, but he may have hit a new low with the day/night developments today -
No way he should start another game
-
Its worse than leaving a job-you dont live here anymore either

I am sick of Ken Williams-2005 in rear view mirror folks

Mac on AM 1000 just said Dye is in the line up at NY tonight

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) The amazing thing is that we'll still have KW as GM, Ozzie as manager, and Walker/Cooper back next year in the same roles. You couldnt even call the White Sox "Sellers" at the deadline. We just threw players into a homeless person's styrofoam cup
-
So far KW has filled as many holes as a city street crew in an 8 hour shift.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 11:44 AM) I can't see him ever putting up anything higher than a .650 OPS, no this 93 AB stretch has not convinced me that he's a competent major league leadoff man. If the Sox expect to contend next season I really don't want to see Jerry Owens and his twig arms at the top of the lineup. I agree-some players do ONE thing really great and warrant some patience-have not seen that one thing yet
-
Screw them-keep Dye
-
Funny how all the Contreras talk died-with his arm I hope they are not taking valuable time trying to unload him

QUOTE(Lemon_44 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 09:07 AM) Being from Columbus,I watched Wily Mo when he was in Cincy. Basically, it comes down to if he can ever hit the breaking ball, he will be a an absolute stud at the plate. His problem is that he has had to learn at the MLB level. I think he can be a good fit for the Sox. One thing that i believe can help turn him around is that he'll probably be more comfortable playing for Ozzie. Also, i don't think his defense is as bad as everyone is making it out to be. He was playing CF at a game i attended in Cincy against the Cardinals and he made two extremely nice play in CF by robbing Edmonds of a HR and made a diving stop on a ball hit by Rolen. It was only 1 game but he definitely wasn't lost out there. I always thought Cincy was stupid to get rid of him. Someone earlier mentioned a comparison to Konerko. I could see the same thing happening. PK had been shuffled around with 2 teams but when he was given a shot at playing everyday, he thrived. It's like Darrin Jackson said in the booth one day, alot of times all a young player needs to hear is that he's the guy and will be out there everyday. That relaxes them instead of having the pressure on them everyday to go 3-4 to stay in the lineup. Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come.

QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 08:08 AM) Reverse inflation? I'll believe that when I see it. Rowand will likely be looking for $10-12 million and will probably get it, hopefully not from the Sox though. I think that a deal for Pena and Masterson would be ideal. Delcarmen reminds me alot of the guys we already have in the bullpen. I think Masterson could also be a closer in the future if we got the inclination to deal Jenks. At worst Pena can platoon in LF with Sweeney next season, at best he is our full time LF and our DH to be after Thomes contract expires. It was clearly the fault of the North Side team what happened last year. With their ownership issues, maybe things will stabilize
