QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 10:46 PM) Tadahito is getting prematurely old IMO. I was all for signing him earlier, but I think there are some pretty good secondbaseman available after this season who wouldn't break the bank. 2008 Free agent market. 2nd Jeff Kent (40) - $9MM club option vests with 550 PAs this year Marcus Giles (30) - $4MM club option for '08 Luis Castillo (32) Tadahito Iguchi (33) Center Ichiro Suzuki (34) Andruw Jones (31) Torii Hunter (32) Eric Byrnes (32) Corey Patterson (28) Milton Bradley (30) Aaron Rowand (30) Mike Cameron (35) Kenny Lofton (41) Right Jermaine Dye (34) Bobby Abreu (34) - $16MM club option for '08 Ichiro Suzuki (34) Milton Bradley (30) Geoff Jenkins (33) - $9MM club option for '08 Trot Nixon (34) Jose Guillen (32) - $9MM club option for '08 Shawn Green (35) - $10MM club option for '08 Eric Hinske (30) Shortstops Omar Vizquel (41) David Eckstein (33) Juan Uribe (29) - $5MM club option for '08 Cesar Izturis (28) - $5.45MM club option for '08 Left fielders Eric Byrnes (32) Adam Dunn (28) - $13MM club option for '08 Geoff Jenkins (33) - $9MM club option for '08 Luis Gonzalez (40) Barry Bonds (43) Brad Wilkerson (31) Starting pitchers Carlos Zambrano (27) Curt Schilling (41) Jason Jennings (29) Freddy Garcia (32) Kenny Rogers (43) Mark Buehrle (29) Jon Lieber (38) Bartolo Colon (35) Joe Kennedy (29) Tomo Ohka (32) John Thomson (34) Kip Wells (31) Wade Miller (31) Livan Hernandez (33)* Randy Wolf (31) - $9MM club option for '08 Paul Byrd (37) - $8MM club option for '08 Jeff Weaver (31) Tom Glavine (42) - $9MM player option for '08 Kris Benson (33) - $7.5MM club option for '08 Jaret Wright (32) David Wells (45) Eric Milton (32) Kyle Lohse (29) Matt Clement (33) Rodrigo Lopez (32) Josh Fogg (31) Byung-Hyun Kim (29) Odalis Perez (31) - $9MM club option for '08 Brett Tomko (35) - $4.5MM mutual option for '08

Is it just me or do the White Sox lead the league in getting runners nailed at the plate by 20 feet? -

How would that preseason rumor Crede/McCarthy for A-Rod trade look about now? -

I am as concerned about this season as I am about the next 5-10. We are looking at a lot of talent either suffering from age and injury or leaving the team at the end of the season if not sooner. Contreras (old), Thome (old), Dye, Buehrle, Crede, Iguchi to name a few. We had a shot to be a serious club again this season. We need a shortstop and left fielder for the defense and leadoff hitter for the offense. But with the potential of all of those names being off the next seasons starting lineup, I am concerned that the Sox will tail spin for another half decade. I am not ready to throw in the towel on this season just yet if only because I really fear what the next few seasons will look like. -

Replacements for Ozuna and Sisco...
My Dixie Normus replied to JohnCangelosi's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Per Roto. Are the Rays actively shopping Crawford? Or is the Elijah Dukes (What a nut job.) situation created some hesitation on their part? -
The Sox are 2-6 on Sundays. 4/8 - Rested Pods against the Twins. Loss 3-1 4/15 - Rested Pods, Thome, AJP vs. Cleveland. Loss 2-1 4/22 - Rested Iguchi. Loss in 12 by 1. 4/29 - Rested Iguchi, Thome. Loss 5-2, LAA. 5/6 - Rested AJP ( who PH 2r, HR in the 8th, game winning single 10th), Win 4-3. 5/13 - Rested AJP, Erstad. Loss to KC, 11-1. 5/20 - Full line up (LF still a ?), won 10-6 vs. Cubs. 5/26 - Rested AJP, Erstad. Loss, 11-5 vs. TB. I have had a weekend package for the last several years. Before that I had either partials or full season since 1980. I get a fair amount of tickets through work and other sources that I see enough weekday games on somebody else's dime. For the first time in 27 years I am considering not having a personal ticket commitment next year because it seems as if I am pissing 50% my money away to go watch half a roster play, even in division games. I understand that players need a game off, particularly catchers. Thome requires a little more rest because he is an older guy by baseball standards. But I can't help but feel as if I am wasting money on Sundays. Maybe I am just pissed because I haven't seen a home win on a Sunday yet this year. I'll probably change my mind by the time I get the invoice for next season. Is it just me?

North would fit right in, in New York. He is an asshole and so it every New Yorker I have ever met. I used to go to NYC in Mid-Town twice a month for work. To their defense, New Yorkers have to put up with the most impossible traffic and transportation systems in the world. I would go across the GWB, the Trapenzi (Sp?) or through the mid-town tunnel and it would take hours. Plus you get to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $6-12 for the aggravation. The other option was to take the subway, an experience of sights and smells you will never forget. These are New Yorkers excuses. North has none. I would hope that when he gets out there, he forgets he is from Chicago.

I love reading Marriotti's columns on how dysfunctional the Sox, Jerry and Ozzie are and then watch them go out and pound a team.

This series has been as fugly as Dick Allen's avatar. -
Take the Cubs out of the equation. Are you happy with beating the Angels in that series? Taking 2 of 3 in Minnesota? Besting the Royals in three? Sending the Yankees home with 2 loses to think about? We won the first 4 series in May and we hit like kittens. Screw Wrigley Field. Screw the Cubs. They mean no more than two loses right now. B.F.D.! Fact is we're not hitting right now. But we are still in it. The Pen is looking a little weary, but we are still not out of it. I would rather let the Cubs sweep the Sox in all six games and play in October than vise versa.

White Sox vs. Yankees, 5/16/07 Lets Play Two!! (W), (L)
My Dixie Normus replied to RME JICO's topic in 2007 Season in Review
Nice hustle that inning. Even Sweeney poured it on down the line on the last out. That is the way I like to see this team work. Crede went to two on the fly out. Mack bustin ass and making a good slide. That is how you manufacture runs, boys. Well done. That fly ball was no deeper than the one AJ tagged on against the Cubs last year. Looks like Mack takes a little different approach than AJ. -

We need to give this kid some run support today. I'll be at the second of the twin bill tonight. Hope we can get some runs then too. -
Not yet. The Sox took the last three series. If the slump continues and we start losing three and four series in a row, then it is time to get pissed. For now, just be thankful we are still winning ball games and are sticking with the division leaders. Once everyone gets healthy and opposing pitchers have to pitch to our complete line-up, things will turn around. Promise. : The Cubs are coming up. There is no better slump buster in the majors than batting against their starters in Wrigley.

AJ dogging that one into second is indicative of the way this team has played. Lazy. -
So Garland is probable for Saturday?
