QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 03:20 PM) And for anyone to think for a second that ARod or Pujols are just going to storm to the record and take it with no one booing or questioning how they got so big, you're wrong. There will always be controversy. It hasn't been brought up yet because they aren't close and nothing has come out yet. The reason Bonds gets the criticism is because his suppliers got busted (Balco) and others have publicly spoken about him (Sheffield) and he's grown so much. It isn't just because he was chasing the records. Nobody's on Miguel Cabrera yet, fair or unfair, because he doesn't look like he's juiced, nobody's said that he's juiced and he hasn't much changed except for getting fat, and I doubt anybody truly does unless there's something there. I don't care for Alex Rodriguez or Pujols, either, but nothing's out on them for sure. Pujols, though, is not someone that I think will hit all of these homeruns. I think he's going to break, and I've heard that a lot of scouting reports worry about his longevity.- List of Baseball Entrance Music
And Ichiro likes Hip hop, apparently.- List of Baseball Entrance Music
Hafner's a wrestling fan.- Barry Lamar Bonds
Or a big collector. It'd sell for enough money to make me happy. It's all mental masturbation, though, since I didn't catch it and won't be catching any of his homerun balls this year.- Barry Lamar Bonds
I'd tag it and sell it afterward. It'd still sell.- 2007 Post ASB MLB Catch-All Thread
Just heard a clip of Greg Maddux telling an umpire this season, "I'm really bad now, so it's really hard for me to throw four strikes." YouTube is amazing.- Official Love for the Milwaukee Brewers Thread
He has one more.- Last Night's Debate: Help! me find a transcript, please?
The only way you can give straight answers as straight as his is if you have no chance to win.- Official Love for the Milwaukee Brewers Thread
The Brewers need to stop pitching Chris Capuano. It's become an absurdity.- Last Night's Debate: Help! me find a transcript, please?
Been looking can't find. Help me, I'm in distress! Also, I guess, if you want...we can talk about the debate here, I guess.- Barry Lamar Bonds
I'm proud to say I wasn't watching.- White Sox vs. Indians, 8/07/07 (L)
I just finished reading about Pud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- White Sox vs. Indians, 8/07/07 (L)
Hawk has a reputation as a bit of a bully (see: Wimpy). I wonder how much of that has to do with his relationship with DJ on the air. I don't particularly care for DJ with Hawk, but he's better without, and Hawk is better with someone who knows the game and won't be bullied by him, either backstage with teasing (like Wimpy) or with his presence (you come into his booth, and you KNOW that Hawk's Da Man). Steve Stone clearly has no problem being an equal partner. And Steve Stone likes John Schuerholz almost as much as I do.- White Sox vs. Indians, 8/07/07 (L)
Like what? "Don't tell me what a player hits...tell me when he hits it!" "He gawn!" ? Just teasing. But really, he provides insight maybe twice a year for me.- White Sox vs. Indians, 8/07/07 (L)
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 08:54 PM) Hawk occasionally will say something that'll make me think a little bit. I just really don't like DJ. He doesn't add anything to the broadcast. He agrees with Hawk on anything that comes out of his mouth, and he doesn't provide any insight. DJ's most interesting moments come when he talks about the Japanese league and his experience(s) there, but even those are weak at best. DJ was fine on Fox. DJ would be fine, IMO, with another real broadcaster.- White Sox vs. Indians, 8/07/07 (L)
QUOTE(Linnwood @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 08:29 PM) AJP my favorite player on the team (the only authentic jersey I own) but it drives me nuts to no end when players don't run it out to first. AJ's in my top five but he grates on me at times like those and when he does other things. When he gripes about Hall. When he bunts right at a fielder for a double player when the fielder is RIGHT THERE (Minnesota, early in the season, and that game seemed like he did it on purpose because he was mad at being told to bunt -- he looked angry, and he bunted it at the third baseman TWICE, each obviously meant to go down third when the guy is right THERE). I hate the lack of hustle on this team, but it's getting a little better of late.- White Sox vs. Indians, 8/07/07 (L)
QUOTE(Linnwood @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 08:26 PM) Way to not run that out AJ! He's a very frustrating player. Satisfying, too, but frustrating as well.- Weekly World News to end...
I thought they were already dead because I haven't seen them at any Jewel or Walgreens in awhile.- White Sox vs. Indians, 8/07/07 (L)
Oh, and Danks has a no-hitter through four. His changeup has been filthy. Discuss!- White Sox vs. Indians, 8/07/07 (L)
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 08:16 PM) Having Stone here is great. He really shows the insight that a color commentator is supposed to have. For example, that little thing Richar did with his glove on the stolen base -- I would've never picked up something like that. I don't think DJ has EVER given me a "Wow!" type moment of insight that Stone gives multiple times during a game. Has Hawk given you a Wow moment? He's given me, "Uh, wow, I guess," moments, that's for sure...- White Sox vs. Indians, 8/07/07 (L)
The benefit of having Stone is, I think, that he'll shame Hawk out of yelling "Dag gum it!" just by being there. Hawk needs supervision, see? He's great to listen to.- White Sox vs. Indians, 8/07/07 (L)
John Danks is a f***ing man- Barry Lamar Bonds
QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 07:19 PM) If I were the fan who catches barry bonds 756th homerun I would give the ball back to bonds under the condition that he admits his steroid use He'd smile at you and that'd be it. You might get a snarky comment, but no more. - Barry Lamar Bonds
