  1. QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) Is it just me, or does anyone else think Chris Young is vastly overrated? You're not alone. I'm not with you, but plenty of people are.
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) Now, yes, when we traded him, no. I'm not sure I'd have pulled the trigger on that deal, even then.
  3. Good article. I'd definitely like to have him back, even for Javier.
  4. Remember, that talk about Adam Dunn being traded to the Nationals? I've been told the deal was pretty far along when the Nationals pulled the plug on it. No explanation was given why. But here’s one theory I heard: Jim Bowden never intended to do make a deal. He just strung the Reds along to waste their time. The Reds do still have a grievance pending against the Nationals over the Gary Majewksi episode.
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 12:18 PM) See, I don't know what is so hard about doing buisiness like that. Although I'm sure it wouldn't work if the rest of the family wasn't all like that in some way. I'm lucky in that regard. Thanks for the insight Greg. Yeah, I don't get why more people can't be very forward. Some people can pull it off and come off as jerks, and some pull it off and come off as very wise, and some people can't pull it off at all and people laugh at them when they assert themselves.
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 12:14 PM) I just read a 2001 scouting report on Floyd when he still was in high school. One scout liked him better than Prior. He said Floyd threw 95 and had a devastating curveball. He said Floyd could pitch in the major leagues "right now"(2001). Must have been a White Sox scout. Further evidence of his great potential. Ninety five with a devastating curveball? MERCY!
  7. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 12:09 PM) Could be, but I just want to point out that unlike Dye, PK is still an above average defender at his position. He is slow as molasses on the basepaths, but he covers 1B very well, and still has some quickness in that first step (quickness not being the same as speed). Konerko is not an above average defender at first base. He'll catch things hit right at him and he can make most picks. He has awful range. Awful awful awful.
  8. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 09:51 AM) This old dog don't run no more. s***, even Jay Sherman gets it on on the Internet sometimes.
  9. Yeah, I'm with you, Steff -- "shut the f*** up," end of discussion. You drain your grain and you drain your brain. You know what I'm saying? I don't know where that came from. (It's an old Dugout that's on my mind.) Really -- shut the f*** up, make sure you never tell her anything or let anyone else tell her anything, and that's that. I have a few relatives I'm estranged with and whenever there's bulls***, the relationship's beyond repair unless they apologize for their past bulls*** I say, Shut up, and it usually works for a good while, with some people just leaving you be.
  10. Yeah, immediately after I asked that Q I got on my Yahoo! and added Hafner over Salty. That was a no-brainer. I don't know what the hell I was doing. My brain was a little crossed up last night until someone else pointed that out to me.
  11. Last night's Braves game was so much fun to watch. Shame that they lost.
  12. It's just eight of us in my league. It's a school-type thing. You'd put Hafner over Salty?
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 01:05 AM) Sorry if the post seems angry. I am not angry at all. I am just trying to find out how killing and rape are equal. Both are terrible crimes, but not equal. Vick and his band of idiots had these dogs rape each other and they killed them for various reasons. It is not a true apples to apples comparison. No, but I wasn't making the initial comparison. I am willing to say that you're more likely to win a battle in public opinion fighting off a rape charge than animal cruelty, which is cruel in itself.
  14. You need to calm that indignation down. A woman, raped or merely claiming rape, is easier to slander than a dog who was killed. A woman, whether genuinely raped or not, will be smeared as a whore and a slut and blamed for the rape and will find a less sympathetic audience with a significant portion of men who won't believe her. Killing a dog, especially for fun and to teach it not to lose a fight or not to be weak, will immediately draw ire from men women and children.
  15. It is easier to slander a woman who is raped than a dog who is killed. That's a terrible testament to our society.
  16. Couldn't find anyone who'd take Travis and I got tired of him. Picked up Braun to be my Utility man. My lineup is: McCann Salty Roberts Upton Guillen Rollins Ichiro Crawford Carlos Lee Braun I'm happy with my lineup.
  17. Brad Lidge will never in his life be the same again.
  18. Hope none of these Braves are truly injured.
  19. That KW is one of the top GMs of this franchise isn't a testament to how great he is. It's a testament to how bad this organization's history is.
  20. If I'm San Diego, I don't let Barrett anywhere near Peavy.
  21. I wish nothing but the best for Dayton Moore and the Royals, as well as other cellar-dwellers in the near-future. Except the Nationals.
