  1. Anyone else on a team or following HS Soccer at all? We shutout Morgan Park for my first Shutout of hte year (I haven't played before) (I am the goalkeeper) and then I was suspended for one game Monday because I tested positive for steroids. No, MLB isn't in charge of steroid punishments, I was just making this up. Really, I was suspended for a trivial matter that I regret. Essentially, I got into an argument with the coach over something. In the game they played without me, they lost 6-0, but won via forfeit because the other team played ineligibles. We've got three games this week. Brooks, Little Village and some other dudes. We're fixing to win. Speaking of Brooks, Monday's win is for you, Slavko! My Cyclones will tear your Eagles up! My only regret is that you're too AFRAID OF ME to face me and my team!!
  2. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 07:47 PM) Unless its Barry Bonds. Barry Bonds isn't a great player anymore. He's the Darth Vader of baseball.
  3. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) I heard an interesting comment from Black jack McDowell Saturday when he was broadcasting the game with DJ. A relief pitcher must have a certain mentality going and it's not the same as a starter's mentality. Brandon doesn't have it as a relief pitcher. The kid gives up too many homers and more often than not in atough situatgion he can't get the first batter out. Our bullpen for the most part has done everything they can to lose games, Black Jack said that the mentality shouldn't be different for starters or relievers, regardless of role. Their mentality should be simply, "Get outs."
  4. QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) Wrong. McCarthy was the only sure thing the first couple months of the season. I dont understand all the Anderson hate. Did you really expect him to hit well? The hitting is up to 3-4-5. Brian plays a very good centerfield. Get over the whole Aaron Rowand s***. He really is not that good. Jenks was the only sure-thing in the first couple months, thanks. Brandon has been mediocre all year long.
  5. Let's take the first game of the series. Screw the Angels. (Admins, Mods: I made this earlier than tomorrow because I wanted to make this game thread, and I wanted to scope it out early. Like a Star Wars nerd. I hope you don't object.)
  6. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) Wish I would have caught that, sounds like my kind of guy. Yeah, he's the type of guy I'd like managing the White Sox if Guillen were to go. (But I like Guillen, overall, so I'm not clamoring for his absence or anything.)
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) I was at the game last night, so I swear I didnt hear it... Ha, okay. Black Jack was saying that pitchers who complain about their "roles" and how their "role" affects them -- he said that was bull, and they should shut up because their only role is to get outs. Period.
  8. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) Blah,Blah Blah, Ozzie is using Brandon in the wrong role. Im sick of that. Brandon has one role. Get Outs. That is his role, along with everyone else in the bullpen and the staff. Get outs. Right now, he is not getting it done, plane and simple. There was ALOT done wrong today, but McCarthy needs to step it up, because he isnt helping his cause by getting more time on the mound... Hi Black Jack, I didn't know you were posting here. (He was saying the same thing on WGN.)
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) I asked this in the game thread: who's more overrated right now, McCarthy or Anderson? PS: they're not overrated. It's just that Ozzie's not putting them in the best possible position to succeed.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) Yeah, please don't take it as me saying that he's not doing well. However, it would be nice if he actually just went out and won us a game, instead of losing the momentum as soon as the 6th inning comes around. The team lost its momentum when they decided to be incapable of hitting left-handed pitching.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) I asked this in the game thread: who's more overrated right now, McCarthy or Anderson? That's one hell of a question. I've never particularly cared for either, and I've never bought their hype.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 12:33 PM) The absence of Steve Hutchinson is going to cost him. Ah, yes.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) Shaun Alexander with a fumble after the Seahawks work their way down field into Lions territory. This is not going to be a great year for him. Are you saying that just because he had a fumble and you're extrapolating, or is there something I don't know about him?
  14. QUOTE(Yoda @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 12:06 PM) Good news for us since he didn’t have to play against us, bad news for his team and the fact that he was having an MVP type season. Bad news for baseball, too. It's always sad to see a great player go down.
  15. People underestimate Al Gore. He can win again, and this time, Katherine Harris, Clarence Thomas and Ralph Nader won't be around to help the Republicans. (Katherine Harris was a hack Secretary of State. [And yes, I am intellectually honest enough to say that most SoS are, but that doesn't make her any less of one.) (Clarence Thomas: for him and the entire SCOTUS, look here: http://www.thenation.com/doc/20010205/bugliosi [i love the fact that, on a Google search for "None Dare Call It Treason" this is the thing that pops up: None Dare Call It Treason Five Supreme Court Justices are criminals in the truest sense of the word.]) (Ralph Nader. Well, he won't be around to credibly say that Al Gore is George Bush's twin, separated at birth and not baptised in a pool of alcohol during College.) I love Al Gore.
  16. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) I might be wrong, but I don't think there will be any investigation into the sexual assualt allegations. After all, the suspect has been murdered and cannot even defend himself. And the charge should not be reduced if it ends up being true, anyway. That just reinforces vigilanteism. The father broke into that guy's house and brutally murdered him, end of story. Spot on, Double S. I, I, I ain't opposed to seeking justice but you're going about it all wrong
  17. I love Travis Hafner and Grady Sizemore. I wish they were ours. I hope Pronk comes back next year and dominates. Except our team.
  18. I hope Frank Thomas gives him a nice welcome back on behalf of his old team.
  19. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 11:25 AM) No LIE....I blacked out after the AJ home run I can laugh now, but it was scary. We were sitting in 107. I had thoughts of the Dodgers game runnign through my head. I turned to my brother and mentioned that AJ is going to do it again. The BAM. There it goes!!! I jumped up(as did everyone else) into th aisle and jumped up and down screaming as the ball sailed into the stands. Then the next thing I see is the back of the chair infront of me as my wife and friends are asking me if I'm OK. The fireworks were still going off and as I sat I saw the celebration forming as AJ rounded the bases. So this lasted but a second. I felt fine and was completly aware. But MAN what this team does to me...LOL So anyway the Doctor I saw afterwards explained it was a Vasovagal syncope caused by sitting for a long time and jumping up too quickly(i'm sure the beers helped, too). Most people would get light-headed, but you can pass out for a brief second too. I'm fine. But it was weird. My advice...If AJ has the chance to win a game...stand-up slowly before he swings. Aj makes me swoon, I guess. Did anyone swipe your wallet while you passed?! Great story!
  20. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) How was this man even given access to the 2 year old child for any length of time? This guy needs to rot in jail for a long, long time, regardless of what happened to his daughter. We don't need vigilante justice. I hesitate to even call it "Vigilante Justice" because there was nothing just about this, and I don't see how anyone could spin it that way. He broke into someone's house and murdered them after his wife told him something (disturbing). But I'm with you.
  21. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 10:55 AM) I've been to plenty of those games, thank you...and i stand by my statement. No one was even talking after they blew the lead. Not a word. Somehow I doubt that.
  22. This game favors us on paper. Let's bring another one to the column!
