QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 02:08 PM) Interesting deal for the Cards. With Holliday in LF and Bourjos in CF, they don't have room to play Taveras if they also wanna keep Craig/Adams. Not to mention Jay, who I could see being traded to the Sox for Lexi. I would love to see the cards empty the warrens for Tulo.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 10:44 AM) If there is another Chris Sale at #3, you draft them and pair them together at the top of the rotation. Its a pretty deep draft this year and as it stands now Rodon could lose some shine and someone else could get some helium and he could drop to #3.

I would be very open to dealing for Span and moving De Aza to left field. Then going and making a move for Lawrie and spending some money on McCann call it an offseason.

Blue Jays reportedly interested in Gordon Beckham

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) Sale Quintana Danks Santiago Johnson Rienzo Axelrod That is how I see it right now, though guys like Snodgress and Beck are closing in. It is also assuming that we don't pull in a RHP project. Why not re-sign Floyd as he rehabs with a option on the cheap? -
QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 10:42 AM) You don't think contending next year is important but you want to trade a starter with nice upside for a 27 year old with a pretty apparent ceiling. Doesn't make much sense. I like Bourjos for CF but not straight up for Hector. I agree at his absolute peak Bourjos is a 4 win player Hector could easily surpass that starting next year. I've mentioned it a number of times here but his peripherals and career look strikingly similar to Liriano. Why give up all that upside? The biggest thing we have going for us is all the money we have available to spend, so continue to spend it; go sign one of McCann or Ellsbury. Move DeAza to LF and put tank at 3B and use Conor as a defensive replacement while he continues to develop. If the sox are going to be a dark horse next year its going to come from their young core of pitching continuing to step up and John Danks getting back to normal.

I would love to see Hahn continue his IFA signings and go hard after Alfredo Despaigne and C yenier bello. We still have plenty of money left and unless we can get McCann I would rather spend the money on high upside power hitting catcher in Bello, and former Cuban league MVP in Despaigne. How incredible would it be if the white sox fielded 4 prominent cuban players? edit: apparently it isn't alfredo who defected.
-
I know he is going to have a lot of suitors, but I hope the sox try to bring him onboard in some capacity and some of their talent evaluators that are sure to get kicked to the curb shortly.

Who Makes It Back to the post-season first, Sox/Cubs?

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 10:49 PM) If Rienzo becomes another Q/Santiago out-of-nowhere type pitch, Sox are looking good. I agree, I mentioned it in the game thread but Rienzo reminds me a ton of Chad Billingsley. If he can produce at 2WAR level at the back end of the rotation with the upside to go full on 4WAR that would be huge. I hope the sox spend 2-3.5m to sign Floyd to a one year deal as insurance, that would give them the ability to move Johnson or Rienzo along with the likes of Snodgress for a young bat. Lastly Hahn still needs to lock up Q and Santiago this offseason though. -
Rienzo reminds me so much of Chad Billingsley low 90s fastball that he is able to put a wrinkle into it, good 12-6 curve, quick pace on the mound. I just hope he doesn't suffer the same fate.

Nice work Rienzo
-
that was horse s*** defense....nice work Dayan.... watch Rienzo's ERA balloon up again because the official scorer doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground...

Television isn't the right medium for ha.h...hhh...haynes...jesus...

I just don't see the sox and Padres matching up, I see the padres emptying their farm and moving one of Blanks or Alonso along with hedges and friend for the likes of David Price

as it stands for this SSS he has a 5BB% & 17.5K% not terrible and he still really young i love seeing the adjustments he is making at the plate and i still think he develops into somewhere between Carlos Gomez and Jose Guilien. His BABIP is pretty high in the SSS but that is just a testament to his hit tool. I think he can be something special and I hope he challenges Viciedo. If Viciedo can turn it around and develop along side Garcia that will be huge for the sox.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 04:10 PM) The Sox have a chance to compete next year, so they should get rid of their closer because only teams with a shot to compete need a closer? I'm simply saying that yes he is talented and young but he is a luxury on this team, especially because he could go to a team looking to contend for a world series title and bring the sox back a nice haul similar to what Boston gave up in acquiring Bailey(Reddick) and Melancon(Lowrie).

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 04:04 PM) Yeah, but for some reason some people think he sucks. I don't think he sucks, I just think he isn't a valued asset on a "retooling" team and that his high leverage innings could be replaced by the likes of Jones or Webb. The sox have an outside chance to compete next year, its foolish to keep an above average "closer" on a team that isn't expected to contend.

Great AB by Garcia, loved the take on 2-0

I would really like to see the sox change their OF alignment to De Aza, Garcia, Viciedo

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 02:31 PM) Pheg's has been having better at bats as late, which is good, as this would be the point in time where you'd start to see him make his adjustments and give the scouts early returns on what his potential might be. Agreed, I will be happy if he can develop into a solid 1.5-2WAR regular something along the lines of Jason LaRue.
-
real solid AB for Phegley

wtf is Hawk talking about? you have the #1 in the draft its not f***ing token....

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 10:26 AM) Which is why I really believe we see Quintana or Santiago dealt this off season for a power hitting 3B of some kind. Would you be ok if Hahn traded Santiago to the mets for a package like this: Wilmer Flores and Ike Davis with a low level high upside arm coming back?
