  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) Hey Tyrus Thomas, you suck. lol
  2. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) wow so much enthusiasm...so young. wait nevermind.
  3. 6-2. plenty of time to get back into the game.
  4. Fields stance reminds me of Rios(tor) that was a productive out.
  5. who gets Jose's last start? Haeger or McCarthy?
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) It's getting to the point where if we can get some good value for Contreras, you have to consider trading him. There's been such a huge decline in his stuff since last season. No one is mentioning how he's throwing 3 mph less than he was last year. agreed, judging by KWs comments in the trib today along with his comments in ST his goal is to get younger. Next year i expect the tigers to regress a bit and the royals to to actually compete. OMG!
  7. woo how many times has this f***ing team given the lead back?
  8. so whos looking forward to Fields AB next inning along with the ball finding him at 3B. that breaking ball didn't break, and the second time the leadoff man has gotten on.
  9. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 07:47 PM) It ALMOST seems like the Sox are playing with urgency. Jermaine's dive on Ichiro's single, and Tad taking second... yeah like they almost have a chance being 5.5 back with the O's leading the twins and 3 games remaining with them at the end of the season almost
  10. Go Fields....I bet those kids saying gotta believe couldn't hold back the laughter when the camera turned off.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) Michael Young WOULD solve the leadoff hitter problems... He might not be a traditional speed guy, but he is a guy who is on base a ton. I agree he could leadoff, and honestly i don't think that would be a bad idea. Young is just a great hitter, hes got over 200 hits again this year, and with him in the lead off spot he would have more ABs and i imagine it would cut down on his GIDPs a lil bit. Young has two years left on his contract @ 07:$3.5M, 08:$4M club option (may increase to $5M) ($0.5M buyout) His contract is really friendly. I think Jose or Garland and Uribe would get it done, both of Jose & Garland have a few years left on their respective contracts. Jose is locked up until 09 (07:$9M, 08:$10M, 09:$10M) Jon is locked up until 08 (07:$10M, 08:$12M), Garland induces alot of GB thats definatly an asset in a place like texas. Either Jose or Jon would help strengthen their SP and would make a good 1-2 punch with Millwood. As for Uribe hes locked up till '08(07:$4.15M, 08:$5M club option ($0.3M buyout)), The Rangers are high on Arias and could break him in slowly with Juan and as ive stated you know what your going to get with Uribe 20HR 65RBI great to amazing defense, putting him in Arlington would only help him. If he sucks in '07 you only have to pay .3 to buy him out in '08, if he returns to form like when he first came to the sox you can deal him for something.
  12. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 09:01 AM) You want an old man for a leadoff hitter lets go see what Rickey Henderson is up to these days. intresting fact, Rickey is only 3HR shy of the 300 300 club
  13. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 01:17 PM) Garland and McCarthy and Fields for Willis and Cabrera. Move Cabrera to LF. But since this wont happen forget it. Garland is our best pitcher. There is a reason KW signed him to that nice contract. thats crazy talk! Willis might be moved this offseason, if he is it will be for a pretty big package( a young CFer, catching prospect and of course more pitching, even though the marlins have tons of pitching). Miggy isn't going anywhere, he will comand a Pujols like contract(7 years/$100M) if not more. Lastly the marlins want young cheap talented players, Garland fits 2 of those but not the cheap part, and i think if KW has held onto McCarthy this far he won't be moved esp after a bad year in the BP.
  14. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) We have a CFer who had a .302 OBP during the 2006 season. To say that we don't have CF woes, or that Anderson is a lock to have a better season in 2007, is very optimistic. I think that if Kenny can upgrade he should. Also, someone needs to have a long talk with Ozzie about not playing Mackowiak in center. Ever. Wow, you really think Brian is going to strugle like he had at the begining of the year, next year? i don't and i don't think its too optimistic to think Brian is going to hit .270 15 60 next year, infact thats what i expect from him. He has performed very well at every level of baseball including college. Since June 11th here are BA's stats .280 .329 .420 .750, that certainly doesn't look like we need an upgrade in CF, considering his glove is the 1337 sauce and hes our #9 hitter. Also from KWs own mouth from todays trib Ozzie may hate Brian, but Brian is KWs guy. To sum it up; Brian is the future and piece one of a young and upcoming talented OF(Sweeney,Anderson,Fields). He isn't going anywhere and KW is going to constantly bring in young talent when its applicable like Fields/Sweeney in LF next year.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) Whoever we get the best offer for. Unless we can't extend Buehrle. If we can't extend Buehrle's contract before Feb., then he has to be moved. He's too valuable a trading chip even off of this down year to wind up only getting draft picks for him. Agreed if we can't extend him move him, no team will be getting draft picks for FAs anymore.
  16. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 08:28 AM) If I traded a starter it would Garcia (whose value has shot up recently,) then Contreras, then Vazquez, then Buehrle and finally Jon. Jon is the last guy I would trade, he was out best pitcher for the last two seasons. Thats basicly my ranking of the order of SP to be delt, great minds think alike.
  17. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 11:34 AM) rangers need pitching and lots of it....the could care less about uribe, they have spider arias. Agreed, but i think Uribe has some upside, at the very least you know what your going to get 20HR 65RBI and excellent to amazing defense having that while breaking in Arias isn't that bad. I think if you put him in Arlington with a new hitting coach he would flourish again and if he doesn't work out for '07 you have a .3mil buy out, if he does well in '08 you can deal him and get something in return. I think to aquire Young your going to have to give up Jose or Garland + Uribe and possibly paying a little on their contracts with a B level pitching spec coming back our way.
  18. QUOTE(blazewc77 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 10:04 AM) Gary Matthews Jr will be a free agent ? Should we pick him to help us clear our center field woes ???? As balta said we don't have CF woes, we've got managerial, back end of the BP, SP, LF & SS woes. Brian will be fine, also Gary is coming off a career year, he's 32 years old and reminds me alot of Tom Goodwin circa 1998, let some other club bite and overpay.
  19. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 01:20 PM) If the Bears and Bulls didnt have such potential for success this year it would be a lot more difficult lol agreed, we got the rings last year, this season we all had high expectations and it didn't happen. I look forward to seeing the moves made this offseason along with ST, and how fields/sweeney/anderson do in winterball. The future is still bright for the white sox, and the central is going to be a dog fight all season next year, the royals are much improved and have no where to go but up same with the tribe, it should be fun
