QUOTE(Thunderin @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) He has no value at this point to be tradeable. If he does get traded, it would be another Ken Williams masterpiece then. ha!, don't you know Kenny can make something out of nothing. you should have more faith in KW it would serve you well

everyone i apologize, the reason we've lost these past two games is because i hadn't made an appearance in the game thread. sorry. -
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 10:17 AM) Hmmm, didnt realize that I should put so much trust in a guy who gave pretty much nothing to the team the second half of last year due to injury, had the winter to rehab, and had the injury resurface after only a couple of ST outings. So he did piss in your Cheerios. The guy was automatic the first half of last year, and a lesser man would stay at home and wait for his checks in the mail, Dustin is actually trying to be proactive, i see nothing wrong with having some hope for him taking over mop up role for the sox.
-
Man Kyle you've been really down on Hermanson since the news of his possible return was announced. Did he piss in your Cheerios? Seriously though. Yesterday he pitched again in one inning threw 10 pitches 8 for strikes, 2 ground outs and 1 strike out. He then came back out for the next inning and preceded to walk two batters, but they were both on full counts, that makes two scoreless IP, and he has yet to give up a hit. Why wouldn't you want him coming back? were paying him for this year and were only asking for him to have a career norm year(4.21ERA & 1.36 WHIP). All this sox BP needs is a person for low leverage work that wont s*** the bed.

Hermanson could be back by the end of the month...

think he will come out for the 8th inning? -

im watching dustin on milb game day, 3 pitches 1 ground out thus far, go dustin! another ground out on 3 pitches, hes thrown 6 pitches 5 for stikes, looks like hes comanding the zone. and a strike out, nice work Dustin!, 2 ground outs 1 strike out. 10 pitches 8 for strikes, and from what i can gather from game day he was controling the strike zone. -
I don't Girardi would, he seems to be a man of principle. It would be too easy for him to take the Yankee position and win. I think he would rather build his reputation from the ground up starting with these baby marlins, that way he can lay claim to their success and rightfully so. Another note on the Olivo front, since hes only 27 he realistically can be their catcher until hes roughly 33/34ish and then remain in a back up capacity. Since the marlins goal is to rush the NL by '08 that would only make Olivo 29, I don't see him going anywhere JMO, provided he can play up to his potential as seen this year.
-
think they would be interested in Soriano? if they did that they would prolly then have the weakest D in the OF in all of baseball. They've definatly got the prospects to get him.
-
i was going to put uggla up there but he was a rule V, i was going more for traded busts, i guess i should've put that in the title my bad.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 12:39 AM) Brian is hitting like .279 in July. Albeit, a small sample, but still awesomely encouraging. Seriously thats so huge, to you BA, and thanks for making me eat a lil crow *even though i said IF he didn't turn it around we would need some help*. GO FG bring your A game and show up we need to take this series since the Ms are in a tailspin.
-
Yeah alot of people felt bad for Girardi but he stood his ground down in south FL, glad to see the marlins doing good things. The best part about the Olivo/Marlin conection is hes cheap($700,000) kinda young hes only 27 i know for a catcher thats maso menos but still, i think he will be their C for a while.
-
i was watching the game over on wciu so i didn't have a chance to hear that but thats awesome.
-
Former sox prospect Miguel Olivo has got a cannon(31SB/18CS/.367CS%), hes handling the best young pitching staff(4.22CERA and thats with Brian Moehler(6.84ERA)....ewww) and hes tearing the cover off the ball AVG .291 | HR 9 | RBI 34 | OBP .321 | SLG .492, which is exactly why we will not get him, but its good to see Olivo doing well with the Marlins
-
yes thome was an excellent pick up, but im aiming for more "under the radar" people that were once considered top propspects gone bust, or something of that nature.
-
Since the ASG is closing in fast and half of the season is already over, I was wondering what everyone would consider some of the top pick ups so far this season. For me 3 come to mind. Brandon Phillips 2B Cincinnati Reds 25 years old. acquired from the Indians, for $ or PTBN .315, 7hr, 44rbi, 16sb/1cs, 22bb/34so, .366obp Brandon was named the NL player of the week Corey Patterson CF Baltimore Orioles 26 years old. acquired from the Cubs, for SS Nate Spears and LHP Carlos Perez .283, 10hr, 35rbi, 31sb/6cs, 14bb/51so, .320obp Corey has become what Steve Stone said he would become at the bottom of the order and is curently second in the AL in SB. Matt Thornton P Chicago White Sox 29 years old. acquired from the Mariners, for Joe Borchard. 3.49ERA 3W 1L 28.1IP 21H 11R 11ER 4ER 11BB 30SO 1.13WHIP Since coming over in the trade and under Don Cooper, Matt has become incredibly solid in the sox bp, and continues to only get better.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) Personally I love it when the board blows up like this. When we're losing it's far more entertaining to check out the game thread than it is to watch the game. /agree -
hangar they did send him down to AAA for a bit.
