  1. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 06:07 PM) it's pure idiotic to have Uribe in there over Quentin. Quentin should be LF, Swisher in CF, and Ramirez at 2B... It's Ozzie, seriously, what do you expect? The guy has consistently proven he can't put the best lineup on the field at any time.
  2. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) Whaaaa?!!! Did you forget about 2006? Anderson could barely hit above .200! he's got a nice arm but that's about it. 2006 was what, 2 seasons ago? Are people not allowed to develop? Jesus christ, what a horrible argument for being against BA.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 01:46 PM) Carlos Quentin is just a better baseball player IMO, he was always rated higher as a prospect, put up much better numbers than Brian in the minors, had a monster rookie season (in extremely limited ABs), finished off Spring Training with some outstanding play and has made the absolute most out of his opportunity to play thus far in 2008. The better question is; how do you justify sitting down Carlos Quentin at this point? I don't think you can. I can justify it by saying he's still extremely young, and we have other young players that need to be given a chance too. I've always been a fan of the theory that we need to put the best team on the field at all times, and I can't say that we have that right now, ONLY because BA hasn't been given his fair chance. Why not let Brian and Quetin rotate for a few weeks, and see what we have? If Quetin out-performs, fine, let him have it, I'd be fine with that, but I think its pretty agreed upon that Brian seems to have turned the corner. I just want to see what the kid can do at this level. Besides, if he can do well, maybe next year we have an outfield of Swisher-BA-Quetin. That's probably even the best solution now with how old Dye is getting (although, he is raking at the plate right now).
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 01:39 PM) With Quentin's potential and the way he's started off this season there's just no room for Brian. There's no excuse for him not being in CF in say the 8th or 9th inning of EVERY close game this season but aside from the occasional start to give one of the old guys some rest there's just no room in the lineup for Brian Anderson right now. But you don't even want to give Brian a chance? Why does Quetin deserve it and not him? He had a hell of a spring, and we know hes proven on defense, and we're just gonna sit him on the pine. I don't get it.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 12:22 PM) Career vs Verlander: 7-18, 5 HR, 6 BB, 4 K That's a line of .389/.542/1.222/1.764 Wow, I hope he keeps that up.
  6. Seriously, I think Anderson is just never going to be given a fair shot. I think I'm finally going to let go and find another manlove.
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 11:25 PM) I believe we talked about this a few times in the off-season, at I agree Furcal would have been a good fit, probably better than O-Cab at this point. I also agree Swish is perfect in the lead-off spot right now, and if you got decent pitching all season, you would see a very successful team with Swish leading off. While I agree that he is doing great right now, (6 straight walks? sick), but lets agree that he is not your prototypical leadoff guy, only because hes not a threat to steal. But to me, that doesn't matter. if a guy can get on base, then he is a good enough leadoff hitter. Clearly. that is what Swisher is. Plus, he's a threat to go deep too (or so, he was in Oakland). Always a good way to start a game.. leadoff homer. Let's keep it up, don't mess with the lineup, and keep on winning.
  8. We historically have killed Verlander... LETS KEEP IT UP! Early gamerthread, but I'm watching a movie and calling it a night! GO SOX!
  9. QUOTE(lostfan @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 11:26 PM) Yeah I assumed that's what you meant. Danks is Baby Buehrle anyway though. Which is great for us. Think about having TWO Buehrles in the staff, a few years down the road. How sick would that be? Assuming one of Broadway and/or Floyd develop into good starting pitchers, and Danks keeps it up, I think we have a good rotation 3 years down the road.
  10. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 10:37 PM) Sweeney was 4-4 last night. Damn.
  11. Chris Young has 2 homers tonight.. just saying..
  12. Yeah I'm pretty much a BAMF at making gamethreads.
  13. Isn't it great to see a leadoff who consistently can take a walk? Swisher has given some good ABs so far this year. I like this kid already.
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 05:19 PM) It's the 5th game of the season, and they have played against 1 other team. There is no possible way to make the call at this point of the season. I just mean overall, last year included. They are just so up and down.
  15. This offense is sooooo inconsistent. And don't try to tell me it's Willis pitching well..
  16. What a change from Mr. Noodle Arm Podsednik.. Holy s***. He has won my respect.
  17. Dye looked like he didnt want to even try to get that one.
  18. So seriously, why is Anderson on this team? Can we please get rid of him so he can go somewhere else and be a star? f***ing ridiculous. We don't even use him when we need a strong defense, instead, we but Swish out there in CF. What a joke. /rant
  19. Why oh Why is Hall starting over AJ? AJ is one of the hottest hitters right now (albeit, only 4 games), and you take him out? I don't care if hes a catcher, let him ride out the hot streak.
  20. Going for three in a row!!! LETS KICK SOME TIGER ASS! GO SOX GO!
  21. Looks like I'm 2-0 all time for gamethreads... *crosses fingers*
  22. Did Bobby go head-hunting? According to Gameday he did.
