  1. QUOTE(StatManDu @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 06:09 PM) Freddie Mitchell: The White Sox 50th round pick (and last) in the 2000 draft as an outfielder out of UCLA. … Did not sign. … Philadelphia Eagles' first round pick out of UCLA in 2001 … Colorful and controversial receiver caught 90 passes for 1,263 yards (14.0 average) and five touchdowns for the Eagles from 2001 to 2005. … He is best known to Green Bay Packer fans as the receiver who made a 28-yard reception for the Eagles' on 4th-and-26 in a 2003 playoff game. The first down was key in the Eagles' comeback victory – one of the more crushing defeats in Packer history. ... And thanks for ruining my night...
  2. QUOTE(frankie5angels @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 01:10 AM) This quote makes me really scratch my head and wonder what the hell he is talking about "All this does is put the Tigers in a better position to contend with us"???? I am pretty sure the Tigers aren't worrying about us. Cleveland won the division last year. I think they are a little more worried about contending with Cleveland than they are with us. We will be contending with KC for last place. It's called confidence. He truely believes this team has what it takes to contend. And really, is he so wrong? How many people thought the '05 Sox would win it all? We weren't contenders at the beginning of the season, but the guys started playing well, and they gained more confidence. And look where it got us? A dominant World Series victory. So I understand we might not agree, but he could be right.
  3. Wow, so I just read through the entire thread and it seems, judging from all of your collective comments, that this trade is great. I also agree on the notion that Kenny will not just be flipping Quentin for someone else. He'll be on the team in '08. Still have no idea who will be leading off, and I don't like the idea of Owens in CF/leadoff at all... come on Kenny, pull off a big one, "under-the-radar" style.
  4. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 12:10 AM) Did you cut his head off and count the rings. How the hell did you come up with this. Are you an expert in the signs of outward aging. This is a stretch.
  5. QUOTE(PAUL KONERKO 14 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 04:43 PM) woooow in health class our teacher is like we traded for cabrera and i was like YESSS then he said orlando and im like o... Haha, you got owned. Pretty funny though. I saw the thread and all it said was "Garland traded for Orlando..." and I thought Hernandez. I screamed loudly. Then I read it and wasn't as disappointed. I got owned too.
  6. QUOTE(NCsoxfan @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) While I appreciate everything Garland gave to the organization I always thought he was a "me-first" player. Besides the obvious whining and snubbing of White Sox fans, I had the unfortunate experience of meeting Jon and Kip Wells on a road trip to Cleveland in 2001. While no player has the obligation of talking with fans, Jon was arrogant and unfriendly to me and my father. Remember, at that point, he was only 21 years old or so. Everyone has bad days and maybe this was one for Garland, but in all my experiences with him and memories of him dealing with the press, I will not miss him at all. Way to be the jackass who hijacks the thread. Nice work. Big Jon, I definitely will miss you. While I was one of many who would get frustrated with you from time to time, I really appreciate all you did for this team and this city. Without you, we arguably wouldn't have won the big one in '05. I sincerely wish you the best of luck in LA and hope you end up staying strong.
  7. Wow, good luck Garland. I hope you tear it up over there in LA.
  8. Lol for serious? Wow. Where's he gonna play?
  9. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) I don't know where these magic players are coming from that are better/younger/cheaper than Uribe that you want. Tejada's not coming. Eckstein's hurt and older. Greene's not leaving SD. Wilson and Everett can't hit for average OR power. Vizquel's too old. Furcal might come. While costing us prime prospects or a quality SP in Garland. Also, he's 13.7 mil a year, declining, and is a notorious "me" guy. Uribe costs the Sox no players to get and 4.5 mil isn't bad for a SS of his defensive caliber. I understand your frustration, but the offseason's far from over. I don't care who replaces him (minus Eckstein). This guy is an auto-matic out in the lineup. I would rather see a minor leaguer play there than him, although I know we have no prospects at the position. I just don't care who it is because atleast we could try someone and see if we could get lucky rather than have a player like Uribe who you pretty much know is gonna hit .240/.280/.390 and play up-and-down defense at best. I hope just as much as the next guy that I look like an idiot next year and he ends up having a stellar season, but come on, do you REALLY think thats going to happen? I just don't.
  10. Well, we just assured ourselves a 90+ loss season. That might have seriously done it. I can't believe Kenny is that much of a f***ing idiot. Wow, just when I start thinking hes getting there (Myers, Erstad) he goes and gives one of the 10 worst hitter in White Sox (MLB?) history a new deal. Un-f***ing-believable.
  11. This might be one of my favorite days as a White Sox fan (obviously other than THAT day). Juan Uribe is one of the worst baseball players I have ever laid my eyes on. Worst batter I can ever remember, and while his D was spectacular at some times, other times it just make me stop and stare in disbelief. Please K-dub, do the right thing, let him go!
  12. Can I ask why Buehrle's value is so low?
  13. That was a seriously fun day, minus the fact that we couldn't hear anything they were saying, even only 50 feet away from the stage. It definitely was magical.
  14. Hey hey! Lucy is already infinitely better than Molina!
  15. Andy Gonzalez is the worst baseball player to ever play for the White Sox. That is all.
  16. Keep it up Juan. You're well on you're way to locking up a starting spot next year!
  17. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 04:47 PM) Garland as a starter, year by year, ERA vs. WHIP: 2001: 4.03, 1.65 2002: 4.58, 1.40 2003: 4.51, 1.37 2004: 4.89, 1.38 2005: 3.50, 1.17 2006: 4.51, 1.36 2007: 4.86, 1.39 Draw your own conclusion. I say 2005 was a fluke and Jon Garland is an average pitcher. But its frustrating because we've seen how good and dominating he CAN be, he's just so damn inconsistent. I don't get it.
