White Sox vs. Astros, 6/9/07 (L)
TitoMB345 replied to Controlled Chaos's topic in 2007 Season in Review
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 04:04 PM) I hope this team wins. I just, don't even care any more at this point. I have almost nothing left to give for this team. It's so draining. I have two tickets to sit in the premium club level box seats to the game tomorrow, the best seats I've ever sat and I usually die when I get tickets there, but I just don't feel like going. If I go I'll just watch s***ty baseball, spend money I don't have, and have to be late to my baseball game at 5. Before, I wouldn't even question it, I would go. Now, I am seriosuly weighing my options. -

I hope we lose this game 1-0. It's just so fitting. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) Uribe's horrific mechanics have taken away all of his power. I can't believe Greg Walker still has a job. Uribe is just a terrible overall hitter. One of the worst I have ever seen. I think the White Sox are the only team that a career .296 OBP guy would still be starting. Every time this guy bats, I want to vomit. -

Can we please just leadoff Thome? God damn it. -
QUOTE(zygoat @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 11:30 AM) what game was this? Houston or yanks Yanks game thursday night. Thing is, I'm almost positive it was a K swinging. I don't know why he was arguing.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 10:09 PM) Ozzie had a lot to do with who's on this roster also though. He's the one who needs his "speed" guy at the top of the order. He's the one who didn't want to give Anderson an extended shot this year. He's the one that never gave Gload the chance to see what he could do as a leadoff hitter. In no way am I blaming Ozzie for how bad this talent level is....but he isn't exactly out of the loop on these decisions. Right, but I'm talking about going back, before Ozzie was here. Kenny has been here since 2000, and while I can't say I am 100% certain, I can't think of many (if any) players that he has drafted that are making an impact for this team. Something down there needs to change. The scouting department is not doing a good job. Thats why I feel more of the blame falls on him rather than on Ozzie. And yes, Ozzie does have a thing about riding people out of this town without a fair chance too, and thats what I hate most about him.

Why doesn't Bobby Jenks ever pitch in close games?
TitoMB345 replied to bigred3535's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) Bobby at least gives this team a chance for a comeback. However, he should only be brought in if we're down 1 run in the 9th inning. No reason to waste him if we're down 3 runs....we can't even get that in 9 innings.I Agreed. Thats what I have been saying. -
Now the real question is: can Ozzie do ANYTHING with the talent (or lack there of) that this team is built with? I'm not an Ozzie fan, but lately, he just doesn't have any better options. Eventually, Kenny needs to man up and stop talking a big game too. This falls about 75% on his shoulders.

QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 06:36 PM) That just illustrates that Ozzie doesn't have any clue how to utilize his bullpen resources, and apparenlty a lot of posters here don't either. It's useless to have a closer if we're never in the lead in the ninth inning. So the question is, would you rather have your best pitcher come in after the starter leaves in the seventh or eighth with a one or two run lead and two runners on...then have a s***ty pitcher come in in the ninth with no runners on and perhaps luck into three outs without any runs scoring OR would you rather have Nick Masset come in in the above situation, let the two runners who were on score, in addition to one or two more probably and not use your best pitcher at all. It's a simple matter of leveraging the talent that we actually do have in the bullpen into the most beneficial use, and Ozzie hasn't done that all in the last few weeks. With the quality of our bullpen pitchers and offense we can't afford to lock our best one into a situation that hasn't been occuring too much (1-3 run lead in the ninth inning). It's a pretty outdated concept that doesn't apply to the White Sox. P.S. Lighten up. It's only a joke...I didn't know the forums were only for serious talk like "FIRE KW," "I hate the White Sox" and "Let's trade Jermaine Dye for Carl Crawford straight up; the D-Rays will do it." NOTE: Edited to fix quotes THANK YOU! Finally someone who actually understands. There are very, very few "save" situations for this club now, and therefore Bobby could sit on the bench and rot. Id rather take my chances bringing him in in the 8th down by 1 and atleast have a CHANCE to win in the 8th and 9th rather than put in someone who is going to make it obvious we aren't going to win. -
Over/under on the number of games before Fields gets a hit? is he pulling a Molina? Wow, a scoreless inning for Jenks. Who would have thought?

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 04:46 PM) Great Post! How about the fact that we don't win games. Might that have something to do with why Bobby Jenks is never brought in to close? At this point in time, Bobby isn't our "closer," as there is no such thing exists on this team. He is our "best bullpen pitcher" who should be used to "keep it close" so we atleast have a chance to win, even if it is very, very, VERY minute. Who would you rather bring in? Bobby Jenks and his shiny 2.49 ERA or Ryan "27.00 ERA, suckas!" Bukvich/Bret Prinz/? Not even a question in my mind. -
Who are some options for us at SS in 2008
TitoMB345 replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
I love how people think Uribe's D is so super solid! Wow. I guess its good when you compare it to Cintron, but he's one of the worst defensive SS's I've seen in a while. -
This was a terrible game. The fans at the Cell left right before A-Rod came up with the bases loaded. And the ones that DID stay all knew what was coming.. everyone around said "I told ya so" when he jacked it. If this team finishes within 5 games of .500 I'll be shocked. Heads need to roll.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 12:19 AM) I just read somewhere that Pierzynski threw his helmet in the direction of the ump after being tossed. If so, I'd expect a suspension coming up. He did. It was not at him but more at the dirt behind the plate.

god, it just doesn't end. in my mind, there is a different between losing, and not winning. for example, the royals are not winning and we are losing. we have the talent to win, we just don't. they don't have the talent to win. thats why i think we are the worst team in the AL. flame on. -

Joe Crede to 15 day DL, Josh Fields called up from AAA.
TitoMB345 replied to marsh's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Why do I have a feeling Fields won't play? Ozzie is going to keep on keepin' on and playing Cintron at 3B every day. *sigh* -
Thank you Thorton! SOOOOOO glad Bobby Jenks is on this roster.
-
I'm fine with this decision because Garland doesn't throw very hard and has good mechanics, so his arm should be good.
-
I love how Bobby Jenks is pitching for our team ever, oh wait. He isn't. Nice!
-
Hah, the sacks are loaded!
-
Man, I didn't realize until today how terrible Joe Crede is at hitting this year. Damn. I'd rather take my chances on Fields.
-
So... I hope 3 runs is enough to win. Cause we sure as hell ain't gonna get anymore. Cy is on the mound!
