Gamethread 6-29-06, Sox vs. Pirates
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 12:22 PM) Widgers CERA entering this game is 5.17 What is that, the ERA when he catches? Terrible.

Gamethread 6-29-06, Sox vs. Pirates
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) What do our bench coaches get paid for? Can any of them ever mention to Widge that he might want to sprinkle in a couple inside pitches throughout a game? Widge has been absolutely terrible behind the plate all year long. Every game I see him catch, he does the same s***. Makes me appreciate having AJP that much more. He KNOWS what to do. Widge doesn't. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) this is discouraging, you know detriot is going to be much more dominant against the Tigers Might want to check that, maybe.

Verducci's All-Star Picks
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 10:09 AM) I believe he said he's not going to be in it. And that last line made me laugh. Ah darn. I know Ozzie was pushing for him not to do it, but I hadn't heard anything from Thome himself.

Verducci's All-Star Picks
Kind of off-topic, but has Thome said if he will hit in the Home Run Derby? He probably wont get a chance though, because hes not from Paraguay.

Jenks Slider
I love this success Jenks is having. I was reading this article last night, and they were basically predicting Jenks to do almost nothing (except one guy). But man, he has turned it on. He is just so unbelievable right now! KEEP IT UP BOBBY! Hah, the article about Crede is hilarious too.

White Sox Up For Best Team ESPY
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) The Steelers will probably win, but the Sox truly played like a team (Than again so did the Steelers). Yeah, they played like a team with the referres on their side. I'm not a Hawks fan though.

Thread for people who left the game early tonight!
QUOTE(bdt91680 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) I went to the game with chisoxrd5 and he wanted to leave in the top of the 4th. The only reason he stayed was because i promised him that his favorite player montero would make an apperance in the game. I cursed my head off at Montero when he came in. But then I saw he put up 3 innings of 1 hit baseball (I believe) and I was pretty happy.

Thread for people who left the game early tonight!
QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:37 PM) Sounds to me like they came back after you left, and lost when you returned. I HOPE you've learned your lesson - stay on the damn train next time!!! Ahahahaha, its so true. But really, my friend was supposed to go to the game with us, but couldn't get off work. And so she decided to call us and wish the team bad luck, hoping they would lose cause she wasn't there (jokingly), and everytime she called/texted us, the Astros scored. While we were on the red line at the tunnel before Cermak, she texted us saying I hope the Astros score. Guess what? 7 minutes later the Astros scored in the top of the 13th. Grrrrr, she if I give her a free ticket to the next game. Bah!

Sox in Pittsburgh
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:10 PM) Oh I hear ya; but I won't be there. But I personally never ask for autographs anyway. The Paper Valley, the hotel in Appleton, has an autograph area. You stand in a lined-in area and if the players want to sign, they come to there. The one in Chicago had one too, but there was no line, just a guard. But I have only run into one player, Dan Marino, who refused to sign autographs at the Paper Valley. Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, Daunte Culpepper, Aaron Brooks... all these guys signed, except Marino. QUOTE(steve @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:29 PM) The White Sox are like Chuck Norris: They don't sleep, they wait. Not only is that sooo old, but its way out of place.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:18 PM) Yeah, except that's not the way Juan pronounces it when he says it. However the person wants it pronounced is how it's pronounced. We have a winner!

Sox in Pittsburgh
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) Just out of raging curiosity, do you ever encounter players when you stay at their hotels? Obviously you probably walk by them, but do they ever hang out? Or do they keep to themselves as you wave at them from across the room? I've always been curious how this works. What about Hawk and Deejay? See them too? DJ mentioned while in Cincinatti walking back to the hotel and seeing nothing but Sox fans the whole way. Any good stories? Well, I stay at a hotel in Appleton that the opponents of the Packers play, and they always come around and sign autographs and chat with fans. I also stayed at a hotel in a Chicago in '99 that the Packers were at, and I sat down and had a soda with Corey Bradford. I was like 11, and I was with my dad. He is the nicest professional athlete I have ever met. He let me wear his gold, diamond-plated "85" pendant necklace. I love that guy! So anyways, professional athletes are generally nice people (some exceptions) and I bet they would have no problem chatting and signing a few autographs. Just be nice. Remember, they don't have to if they don't want to. I should take some pics of my autograph collection sometime.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) After you left the game he had an infield single in extra innings. After a couple pitches he was replaced at 1st by Uribe. Apparently he tweaked something trying to beat out the play on the hit. Ouch. I didnt see anything in the postgame articles either.

Thread for people who left the game early tonight!
Well, I will also say I left the game after the 7th inning. But, as some kind of giving hope, on the train ride back some chick had a cellphone and said they tied it up, so my friends and I got off the train and rode 50 minutes back to the stadium. We got there at the start of the 13th inning, and had to stand in the rain for nearly 25 minutes listening to it. Let's just say, I learned my lesson. I will NEVER, EVER give up on this team again, ever. It was some kind of sign.
