  1. QUOTE (qwerty @ May 27, 2009 -> 03:12 PM) Tyrus thomas should stick to basketball. I think they should've had Z come up to do the 7th inning stretch. "Fresh from his ejection, Cubs fans, here's Carlos!"
  2. Truly comical Zambrano meltdown just moments ago -- close play at home on a wild pitch, Carlos puts down the tag, runner called safe -- Zambrano goes apes***, bumping the umpire, throwing his mitt, hurling the ball all the way to the warning track, and then goes into the dugout and takes a bat to the wall and the Gatorade machine. Awesomely hilarious.
  3. Wait a minute. Not to nitpick here, but that was Getz that caught that, right? And Nix was coming onto the field after the game, from the dugout. So, let me get this right -- when Getz pinch-ran, Ozzie took out the best 2nd baseman on the team, and left in our crappy 3rd baseman/worst fielder? Cool.
  4. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 26, 2009 -> 11:32 PM) A strong case can be made that Chris Getz is the most fundamentally sound player on our baseball team. I’m also eating crow on my Colon pessimism for earlier. The Crow has been eaten. Also, the LA announcers love us. I think that you're right. They just showed him rounding third to score. I knew he'd cut the corner of the bag. He did.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 26, 2009 -> 11:28 PM) Damnit Pods. I have a lasting memory of Pods being a terrible sacrifice bunter in 2005. Just miserable. Rowand and he could have had a contest for crappier sacrifice bunter. And he shows that he's no better now.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) You can't keep walking the #9 hitter. Dotel is warming up, which makes me think Linebrink is hurt. If true, shocker.
  7. In real time, it looked like Howard was fouled. On the replay, not as much. Maybe a good no-call there.
  8. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ May 26, 2009 -> 10:14 PM) ref didnt really have a choice Guess so -- though Lebron had his elbow up and initiated most of that contact. Tough call.
  9. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 18, 2009 -> 09:17 PM) That's Josh Fields-esque It's Kenny Williams-esque. The GM loves his big, free-swingers. Woot, KW. Woot.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) And that's the Gavin we've learned to hate. Grooves the first pitch fastball to a lefty. Just checked in to see the score and what's happening. Saw that the Jays had gone up 4-2, and my first thought was: "I'm sure that Floyd gave up a bomb to some lefty hitter." Sad to say, he's just entirely too predictable right now. He's flat-out awful.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2009 -> 11:31 AM) I swear Getz is faster than Lillibridge and might have beaten the relay there. Esteban Belte, Jr., your ticket is already purchased for Charlotte Friday. Again, with Lillibridge, I just don't get his whole set-up. He's got the bat held high, with his hands way up above his shoulders. Now here's a guy whose swing is too long; why would a hitting coach let a guy who can't get around on the ball start so that he has to bring his hands down and then try to catch up?
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 12, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) Sowers looks like Sirotka Good call. Lillibridge looks like Fred Savage.
  13. If you put a uniform on John Goodman, he'd look vaguely like Corky Miller.
  14. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 11, 2009 -> 07:49 PM) When they put him in the 2 hole they probably told him his job was to get he guy over. He is not a major league hitter (yet / maybe) and really is unable to adjust to the pitcher. That is why I think they need to begin lookingat Greg Walker. There are no adjustments made to a pitcher. Here's where you just need to look at the back of the baseball card. (Actually, with Lillibridge, that's pretty accurate.)
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) You know the one thing that really does bother me about Walker? He's too damn patient with these young guys. How long did it take to finally get Anderson to overhaul his swing? Ditto Fields. Ditto Lillibridge. These guys need (ed) some serious help and it took forever for it to happen. The Lillibridge thing is crazy -- and not just from Walker. Here's a guy who has struck out A LOT the last 2 years, and he's got the damn bat wrapped around his head with his hands way up in the air. The man cannot get around on a pedestrian fastball!!!! Lower his hands and put the bat on a different plane!!!!
  16. ERA stands at 7.11. This actually could be a pretty cool promotion.
  17. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ May 11, 2009 -> 07:20 PM) Anderson was hurt, but after he was sent down to AAA. Tubby Hall was hurt in ST but didn't bother to opt for surgery costing the Sox $3 million over the next two years for the most worthless backup catcher of all time. Cream pies. You forgot the cream pies.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2009 -> 06:15 PM) His footwork at SS is comical And not ha-ha comical either.
  19. QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 11, 2009 -> 06:14 PM) Gavin has no ability at all to get first pitch strike this year. He's replacing Javy for the ability to hang lousy breaking pitches to left-handed hitters. These pitches are creamed.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2009 -> 06:07 PM) That would make a whole lot more sense than Lillibridge. Of course, we've had a terrible fastball hitter batting 2nd most of the season. The thing with Fields is that he doesn't really even have a big swing. He just has really slow reflexes, so he can't hit a fastball and balls skid past him at 3rd regularly.
  21. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 11, 2009 -> 06:01 PM) Why is Lillibridge in the lineup and why is he hitting second? Shouldn't Ramirez be hitting second? (1) More fastballs hitting in front of Quentin; and (2) If Getz is on, it might get him focused on going to right field, instead of trying to pull every pitch.
