  1. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 09:05 PM) The boos get louder every inning. So those ARE boos? I mean, it just sounds weird, kind of a low drone. Are people just sitting and booing for a half-hour at a time? It's just a real strange sound.
  2. Rays go on the ropes, and Javy pulls them off. He has a track record of breaking White Sox momentum over the years. I swear he did it continually in 2006. This year, down the stretch, he undid the team's good work in KC by giving the Twins the game, the momentum and the confidence in the first game of that series. Who knows how this one would've ended up, but I'm pretty sure the Rays felt a lot better about themselves after they took the lead back in this game.
  3. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:12 PM) Why is the ump right on Coop's heels? Likes him a lot.
  4. QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:09 PM) He's not coming back tomorrow whether he pitches this inning or not. I would think that, for one hitter, he could do it. He hasn't pitched in two weeks, and he's normally a starter.
  5. QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:08 PM) Richard in there to eat this one. Not a big fan of this. They may need him tomorrow night to get out a hitter or 2.
  6. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:05 PM) I still can't stop thinking of what a s*** head Javy is. I just can't get over it. I know. I know. It's like contemplating the vastness of the universe. Basically incomprehensible.
  7. I'm just hoping that we don't look back and say this series was over the minute that Javy Vazquez went back out to the mound with a 3-1 lead.
  8. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) Nope. He's gone after this year. Ozzie challenged his toughness and in response Javvy has done nothing but meltdown...this will be like Shaun Tracey all over again, except on a higher profile. mark my words, Javier Vazquez is done as a member of this baseball team. I was kidding, actually. I like the disciplined approach of Dye. He did a good job shortening up on that one.
  9. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) Richard is acquitting himself quite well today. That is one of the lone bright spots of this game. I think he gets a spot in the rotation nextyear... Burls, Floyd, Danks, Richard, acquired pitcher via trade or FA I noticed you didn't put Vazquez in there. I'm sure that was just an oversight.
  10. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) PK didn't twist his right knee did he? Sometimes, and I mean this in the best possible way, our team is hilarious to watch.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 02:53 PM) Judging by Griffey's body, I don't think he's ever hungry. It's like he ate Ken Griffey Sr. In one sitting.
  12. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) Sox signed him to a new contract. But couldn't find money for a guy who'd twice won 17 games, Jon Garland. Not one of Kenny Williams's better decisions.
  13. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 02:33 PM) The Orioles would be a decent bet. Maybe go after Roberts with Vazquez as one of the main pieces. Not going to happen. We'd have to eat salary, and I just don't think that's in the cards.
  14. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) if we make it to Javy's next start, I bet Javy gets benched. Were we to make it to the ALCS, I believe that Javy would be our mop-up guy, just like in 2004 when the Yankees also realized that he's lousy, put him deep in their pen, and then watched him put Game 7 out of reach by giving up a home run to Johnny Damon.
  15. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 02:29 PM) The problem is with dealing Javy, he only wants to play somewhere close to the East Coast. I'd enjoy watching him go back to New York. f*** that guy.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) He's paid a lot of money to get hitters out. He sucks...this will be his 17th lost on a team that almost won 90 games. No one in the organization respects him either. I can't wait until he's traded so we can hear how despised he was. This is the heart of it. His teammates must just hate playing behind this guy.
  17. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 01:53 PM) Reynolds just described Uribe as a huge situational hitter. Someone didn't do his research. He got the first part right. Credit where credit is due.
  18. I'll say the same thing today that I said in the game he pitched in Minnesota. If the game gets out of hand, he should throw as many pitches as it takes to save our pen. I don't care if it's 250 pitches, if it's a blowout, he stays out there -- and that's the last game he ever pitches for this team -- just like the Minnesota game should've been. I meant it then, and I mean it now.
  19. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 01:35 PM) Javy is unbelievable. And I actually had confidence in him going into today. You know what I hate most about this piece of s***? Every time he starts a series, he sets the tone. In Minnesota, doom. Here in Tampa, you have a chance to really assert some will on this team -- but instead, Longoria is off and running and thinking he's Superman. And that will carry over beyond today. The lesson, as always: Javier Vazquez is Spanish for Oh, What a Vag.
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 01:32 PM) Im sorry but if Vazquez is on this team next season Im not watching the games he starts. He frustrates the hell out of me and I cant stand him anymore, I dont care what he does in the future I never want to see him pitching again. I actually started a modified version of this rule in 2006. Since then, if Vazquez starts, I only watch by first mentally preparing myself for a loss. Even given these greatly diminished (zero) expectations, Javy still manages to be a disappointment. Thanks, Javy!
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) JVINAGP
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 06:12 PM) What were your favorite crowd moments last nights? My top 5 were: 5. The "Paulie" chant after Thome's homer 4. The play at the plate 3. Thome's homer 2. Span grounding out in the 9th inning for the 2nd out 1. The double play in the 8th inning The reaction after the double play was awesome. The whole park was like "oh s***, Jenks has a chance to close this out". I'm going to vote for the play at the plate, simply because of the odd circumstances surrounding my viewing of it. I had seats in left field and went to the bathroom during the previous inning. As you noted, the bathrooms were jammed. By the time I was done and walking back to my section, I knew that Cuddyer was on 3rd with 1 out. As I approached the section, I could see, from behind some big dudes (and I am not a tall guy), the ball rising into center. I saw it touch Griffey's glove and him wind up to throw. Then I lost sight of the play as people stood up, only to again pick up the play as AJ grabbed the ball and Cuddyer plowed into him. Then I couldn't see again. But I heard the crowd reaction. Out. Being typically cool-headed, I then basically lost my s***, screaming wildly, RUNNING down the steps to my row, high-fiving like 45 people on the way down. It wasn't until I got home and saw the replay that I realized how shallow that ball really was. Though Griff made an excellent play, from my vantage point -- under, around and behind a bunch of people -- I thought he caught the ball much deeper.
  23. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) Wise appears to be a faster Mackowiak-great as a part time player, but less than mediocre as a starter. Swisher in left- Wise isn't real good in the outfield, and hasn't hit well since starting. But another reason that I like starting someone else is I think Dewayne has been a really good player off the bench, whether it's pinch-hitting or pinch-running. He's truly a valuable guy in that capacity, and -- in playoff baseball -- you need guys like that.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 10:50 PM) BTW, having Kubel hit for Gomez was terrible. I know Gomez isn't very good, but he can get on with the bunt or infield single and that would be an automatic double. Fathom, I was at the game, too -- and thought the same thing about PH for Gomez. Jenks doesn't hold runners well, so Gomez and Span were threats for that reason. Still, the way Bobby was throwing, I don't think anyone had much of a chance. Great to see that -- and probably made possible by scoring a couple extra yesterday so Bobby didn't have to be used.
  25. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 08:49 PM) Should the SOX play Swisher over Konerko tomorrow? http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/8120/b...gVFGxmRtxWFCLcF Judging by those numbers, we should play Anderson.
